This is by far my favorite performance of Concerto Barroco. It just seems to have the best connection to the music.

I thought I had seen this ballet before, but apparently, I hadn't. Wonderful choreography. I really enjoyed these dancers; I thought they did an excellent job. Wow, this must be a tiring one to get through. Thanks for posting; the more Balanchine I get to see, the better.

Wow. Thanks for posting this wonderful performance of this Balanchine masterpiece. I have already watched it several times. Who knew Venezuela could dance Balanchine so beautifully. Up to now Symphony in C had been my favorite Balanchine ballet. This piece is now my favorite. It's difficult for me to say that this or that ballet is his best. I only know what I like, what moves me. The choreography here is amazing. Beautiful. Inspiring, as is the Bach piece. Two geniuses. One treasure. Great performers. They deserve greater recognition. I applaud them.

I adore this ballet. they do an admirable job. but many things so different from the video of 1966 with Suzanne barrel. steps have a much different intention in that one. you gotta see it. more expansive and more movement. in the duet. check it out.

Hi, I just saw that vid you mentioned (Suzanne Farrel, Morris, and Ludlow-1966). They’re NYCB, they have the authentic Balanchine’s style. It’s like watching ‘Petite Morte’ by Jiri Kylian danced by NDT (the original) and by others. In addition, the music from this video is faster than the vid from 1966, which it makes a big difference when you dance….

Yeah, I noticed that it is really fast. I totally got it. They seem kind of young too. But it is a great ballet. I thought it was great that balanchine would give out his ballet for free and didn’t charge anything because he knew it was important that even if they didn’t do it great they were learning something they were expanding. That’s what I think anyways. But for sure, some steps are held back. Like in the put out which is slower and she does those soutenu turns into a combre back. Completely different from the way Suzanne does it when she relaxes her arms and there’s a freedom in it.. I just find this looking stiff. There’s always a lot of factors when you stage of ballet. I’ve done it with Forsythe or I’ve even seen it. It’s about the person who’s done it and the people there. And if they’re open to learning something new. I see this ballet. I really wish that I was born as a woman so I could do it. Hahah

Also, the first step that the women do they do two tendus in the front . And then kind of a step back into a lunge. And the New York City ballet dances really lengthen out that lunge. That’s easy to do and makes it so much fuller and like the music so I guess it’s about the person that teaches the ballet whether they show what’s important or not. I’ve heard stories of the company actually was a Balanchine dancer. And another Balanchine Dancer came to stage the ballet, and once they left the Director, put it back to the way they wanted it to be done. So strange the ballet world.

Hardly any audio! Such a shame as it’s the most modern version on KZfaq, only 4 yrs ago.

John Clifford….please please do something about the far too low audio! This production is the most modern and THE best to watch this ballet. But lack of music spoils it. Oh dear, I’m on my iPad so. KZfaq things are always small, so I’ve ust made it full screen but it then is all blurred! Yet it is really too tiny to be not full screen. Can you do,something about that too please??

What are you talking about? First of all, John Clifford didn't post this video. Second of all, the audio can be heard just fine. Thirdly, the video is from 1989, so obviously it won't be the best quality.

I had similar problem with audio for Paris Ballet's Palais de Cristal. It was resolved by Amazon updating the settings on my Fire Stick.

@@jcliff26 you staged ‘Concerto’ in Venezuela in 1987’, two years prior this show, with different dancers. But it still had your signature. I remember that you also staged ‘Serenade’ in Caracas, probably in 1985. ‘Allegro’ and ‘Apolo’ were other two pieces by Balanchine that were danced by Ballet National of Caracas Teresa Carreño around the same time, but I’m not sure who staged them…
