Tom, As a former log buyer we NEVER wanted to take trees from homeowners yard sites, from tree services and when cutting standing timber you usually were very leary of trees on the outside property lines due to "NO hunting, trespassing, private property signs because of nails. You need or should invest in a good metal detectors. Could save someone from being hurt when a blade blows up from hitting something big in a logs. We kept a lot of garbage that was hit over the years. From nails, to railroad spikes, to a cannon ball. That's not a typo. Worst thing I ever got into were later identified as stainless steel climbing spikes in some Pecan. Absolutely DESTROYED a $2000 (back in 1980ish) 56" circular saw blade. Took teeth, shanks and shoulders right off the blade.

I can't remember seeing one and wonder if you will ever do a video with a chat around with all of your crew. Tom you are a great business man that has shown both crew and customers the way you expect your jobs to turn out. Hats off to you and your crew for yet another great job.

The patio steps didn't turn out overwhelming after all. My gosh isn't it beautiful! The border and broken stone edges are awesome. The finished landscaping you did was awesome too. All they had to do was throw some seed on it! The overlooking view of that patio had TSH all over it. Tommy catching the form there is routine for any one of your crew members, and hearing you brag on them was sweet music to my ears. As I've said before, I'd feel so honored to work for TSH. It was great to get back to the sawmill, but dang at the problems!! I hope you get it back to normal. Nice video, Tom, thanks.👍❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

Metal is very common depending where your logs come from. I have gotten a bunch of logs from neighbors yards and often there will be a nail or screw where they had a birdhouse, clothes line, etc or from the edge of a field. On the drive unit, is the drive operating, but not moving the carriage? If that's the case, you likely need to tighten the rope line. It takes a fair amount of tension to work correctly.

You should invest in a metal detector, do a quick scan before you load it on the mill. I was wondering if your customers complain after it snows or ice rains that the steps are very hard to clean? They look great, but seems imposable to get them cleaned off.

On the milling of lumber, Mark Galacic purchased a "GOOD" metal detector and he runs every log all around before he cuts it. Now i do not know how much it cost, but he said it was pricey. You may could buy a less expensive metal detector, it would not take too many ruined blades to pay for. Just a thought. :)
