29:42 so to clarify, and this isn’t vouching for one side of this issue or another, but owning a firearm, high power or not, has ZERO political affiliation, as there are firearms communities, even in minority groups such as the pink pistols for the LGBTQ community or the black guns matter for the black community. So, this is t about the border issue or the Texas issue, just clarifying being a gun owner does not pin you to one political affiliation or another

Chapter 1: where still bickering over if the islamists are worth solving? Should we bring out the big guns, na people still hesitant to hurt the enemy. Chapter 2: We don't want or need a war with Ethiopia but nobody wants to be the one to give them a port, mabey we could build a new one or compromise but somebody aught to give them a port before they need to take it just makes geography sense don't care who or where but they deserve a coast and will get it one way or another anyway. Chapter 3: America doesn't know if it wants a border, mabey we should just let in anyone that asks and then act surprised when civil war becomes a genuine threat, border control is the one thing where the invasion clause is relevant this is a state decision and cession would be the right choice if the feds can't or won't shut down the influx of unwanted immagrants. Chapter 4: learning why whether it's a gang or a cop if you don't want to be shafted you better arm yourself. What's the difference between a gang and a government that's elected by the sway of the armed populace. You want a vote carry it in your holster.

The federal government doesn't have the authority to disregard federal immigration law
@rhov-anion
@rhov-anion 4 ай бұрын
That is an issue for Congress. The President gets the blame, but he doesn't have that power. Nor do States have the power to implement border policy. (Sorry, but that's established constitutional law.) Republicans in Congress brokered a bipartisan agreement on immigration (they held up aid to Ukraine to get it) but then suddenly Trump asked McConnell to nix it, because he wants to use immigration as a talking point. So you have a federal government refusing to implement a plan because "it'll look good for Biden" (although the President has no authority over this, and the plan was led by a Republican) and a state who wants to patrol their own border, which they're CONSTITUTIONALLY not allowed to do. The problem then is greed and corruption in Congress. Replace them with people who will do their job because the American people NEED it, not block policies because it's an election year.

@@rhov-anion Power to do what specifically? There are many different aspects to "border policy" and how it's implemented and how much authority the president has to implement the current laws is under constant dispute and interpretation. There are currently legal ways to enter the country and illegal ways to enter the country. (Sorry but that is actually established law). The president certainly has the power to deploy armed forces and construct barriers on the borders to prevent illegal entry and so do the states. There was never any constitutional question over Trump doing this except for disputes on how it was funded. The right of Texas to do this is also not really disputed. The recent supreme court case simply overturned a lower court's decision to bar federal officials from taking down fences constructed by the national guard. But there's nothing barring the guard from constructing them again either. There's no debate that the president could nationalize the national guard, Gov Abbott knows this and has already said he has other plans if that happens. The other aspect is that we have a seemingly contradictory law that allows anyone to legally remain in the US - regardless if they entered illegally - if they request asylum until their case is decided, which can sometimes take years. Under Trump, asylum seekers were sent to Mexico to wait until their cases were decided. That policy might have been challenged eventually in court, but that policy was ended by Biden. There's really no dispute there either - one executive policy was replaced with another. This new "bipartisan agreement" would have made it mandatory to suspend granting asylum when numbers exceeded a certain threshold. That might have been helpful but I don't think would have solved everything. But to say that Biden "doesn't have the power" to do anything without this law is just another narrative, sorry. I agree that the issue has been highly politicized. We are constantly being offered a false choice between maintaining law and order and being compassionate to asylum seekers. Ukraine has nothing to do with the border crisis, but it was seemingly the only way to force the issue to be considered. Both parties do this and it's an indicator of major dysfunction. Every complex issue gets torn apart by team red and team blue and then you get criticized for "compromising" by one or the other if you dare to consider all aspects of the situation. In reality, the opposite is true - a dogmatic approach is the real compromise.

This means some regulations and standards on food are also shared. The EU budget distributes money around the Union, including a large package of agricultural subsidies. Some food has regional protection. The benefit for nations inside this free trade bubble is protection from the outside. Anyone from let's say the USA or eastern Europe or Africa doesn't get this. Texas National Guard: 22 thousand personnel Texas State Guard: 1.6 thousand personnel Do not take this as an endorsement of the federal government’s actions but the inherent problem for states like Texas that wish to oppose federal authority is that they still love the federal government’s money. To clarify, State Defense Forces like TSG cannot be federalized unlike the TNG. The caveat of course being that all the funding comes from the state itself. Thus, in literally every state you end up with ratios like the above with the federal government’s ability to simply pull the rug from under a defiant governor. While its technically possible for the Adjutant General to reject federal authority (and essentially commit a mutiny). Even if no disciplinary actions were taken, the federal government could simply stop cutting the checks and allow the National Guard to reassess the situation.

The crux of the Texas vs US Fed border debate boils down to whether to defend the border or allow hundreds of thousands to millions of people to illegally migrate into the US completely unfettered. Sounds plausible enough, but likely that's not the reason. Considering the lack of wanting to get dragged into direct conflict with Iran, the US needed the time to make sure the targets and people they went after were important enough to send a message, but not so much to cause Iran to up the stakes in the region. The sad irony is, the US was talking of pulling out. This attack has delayed that now. And considering we now have the retaliation attack which hit 85 different areas (IIRC)... the time was needed to coordinate for that.

While I agree with Jefferson's concerns (judges in his days were landowning upper class citizens) even worse would be having congressmen or random governors be the arbiters of constitutional question, especially those who obviously can't pass an 8th grade Constitution test. When it comes to interpretation of the Constitution, SCOTUS is "meant" to be the non-partial, non-partisan interpreters. Yet when you have constitutional scholars decrying that the rulings coming out of their chambers clash or overturn legal precedent and we can all predict how decisions will be made based on the political leanings of the Justices, SCOTUS has proved itself to be anything but non-partisan. Some are there purely to boost the causes of the oligarchs who are "gifting" them stuff.

It is basically the same as cutting in line at the DMV, except that entering the country illegally is a federal crime, and supposed to disqualify someone for coming her in the first place. Also the current numbers of unemployed U.S. citizens is anywhere from 6 million to 11 million people, and allowing more people into the country that are technically illegal to give employment to is not going to help anyone, but the criminals who are willing to exploit them for cheap physical labor.

The funny bit is, now Texas is the one doing it wrong. The Supreme Court determined that, and yet Governor Abbott continues to waste Texan dollars. He doesn't ask for help controlling the border, doesn't ask for help relocating the tens of thousands of -does anyone remember?- *refugees* crossing into his state. Instead he plays on Texan fears to try and look hard and "fight the good fight" against a Democrat-led government. If the POTUS was a Republican right now, you can bet the Governor would be acting completely different. Calling the refugees at the border an "invasion" is racist and intentionally misleading. The Republicans can throw up their hands and let out a litany of "mercy me" all they want, but it doesn't change the facts. Texas should step aside like they were told to do. It's the federal government for a reason. The problem is the federal government is trying to remove all restrictions and facilitate human smuggling of illegal migrants into the country and providing them federally paid for benefits at a time when most legal migrants and citizens are struggling to survive. This would be akin to European leaders bringing in foreign workers and providing them benefits that are paid for by the citizens of their respective countries by increasing their tax burdens.

A subtle distinction between the states rights issue in Texas now and the issues in the US civil war is that Texas isn't claiming supremacy over federal law, but claiming that because the federal governments failure to enforce it's own laws; Texas is suffering. Under the US constitution the federal government has, among other things, a duty to protect the citizens and sovereignty of the states. If the federal government fails in the duties the states may take the issue into their own hands. Abbott is claiming that the millions of migrants that have come into the state over the last three years, with the Biden administration policies encouraging this influx, is proof of Washington failing in it's duties. And to be honest, if you get past rhetoric from both sides Abbott isn't wrong. Hundreds of known terrorists, MS-13 and other gang members, and migrants from pariah states have not only crossed the border, but been given paperwork by Border Patrol to enter and remain in the US.

The constitution makes it clear that the Federal Government has complete countrol over immigration and border enforcement Just like how a normal citizen can't just go out and arrest criminals even if the police aren't doing it, the State government can't enforce the border even if the feds aren't doing it. So yes Texas is in fact claiming supremacy over federal law. And this goes both ways the Federal government generally can't enforce state laws even if the state is ignoring their own laws.

A State does not have the constitutional right to defend its border. Texas is breaking Constitution Law. That's called "being a traitor to one's nation." Congress is the only entity with the power to change border policy, and they tried, they had something ready to go. Trump ordered McConnell to stop the bill. He wanted immigration to be a talking point in his rallies, and that doesn't work if Congress actually FIXES the issue.

This whole issue has been misrepresented as some anti-immigration, far right cause, which just isn’t true, and it isn’t just right wing republicans who want the borders properly secured, illegal immigrants is the issue and managing the number of migrants we take in to a sustainable level, right now, it’s not sustainable and illegal immigrants are arriving in record numbers, Joe Biden and democrat politicians don’t care what’s best for the country, they just care about turning these people into votes, i can’t fathom why this isn’t clear for everyone to see, our largest cities, who are majority left-wing, liberal, democrats have come around to speak out about the migrant issue, “sanctuary” cities are rapidly disappearing

I agree with Texas, legal immigration is good, but the US doesnt have infrastructure to support all these migrants currently. Honestly the US should only accept legal migrants. Also legal migrants that went through the process of immigrating must be feeling betrayed since these people can just cross the border and stay in the US. Also it is hard for the migrants, since they cant get jobs and live like homeless people. I dont support Trump or Biden, but this has to get resolved somehow. Another problem is that there is a lot of human trafficking and the trafficers say that the immigrants wont have to work and will get everything for free in the US, which is not true and can be dangerous.

Remittance money from working in the USA is a lot of incentive. Even a low-wage job in the USA can mean a huge improvement. If there truly was no work for migrants there would be less incentive. But at that point the USA's economy would need to be much worse than now, and you would have a lot more problems than migration. It's like watching very rich people across the fence complain how poor they are.

Hey Simon love watching all your channels and I live in Texas and a key thing you didn’t mention for why the argument in support of Texas’s actions is that in the constitution it says that federal government has curtain responsibilities and if they don’t follow through it’s up to the states to do so and that includes protecting them and securing the border and so because the federal government isn’t doing so texas is legally taking charge in the matter but as of right now there’s arguments in favor of Texas aswell as against
