I remember in the early 2000s when we could walk out purlins.every connection was done sitting on the column.they would put the whole stack between the eave strut and 1st purlin clip and off you went.now its all out of baskets.its still a rush but a lot more safety in mind now on the prefab buildings

100% tie off does suck and does slow one down but you can't put a price on your life. I get the old timers didn't learn being tied off so it was an annoyance. Worked with a guy that never wanted to tie off. I would always tell him... i mean wtf you're wearing a harness! I attended his funeral. He fell and was working alone. No telling how long he was there before someone seen him. I couldn't even imagine just laying there thinking.

you have to love the connectors that double washer on the nut side.. dont worry, detail will get it.
@spudwrencheddie4 жыл бұрын
Vincent Quattrocchi you should google “DTI washers”, also called “direct torque indicators”. Which have tabs that depress when the bolt is torqued to the correct spec, they require a typical flat washer ok between the nut and dti to allow for even pressure throughout the surface of the dti. Then when you’re done researching that, you should google “not talking trash when you don’t know wtf you’re talking about.”

6:35 How do you determine that the amount of torque is perfect ? In my case i would often brake the bolts (not like those bolts) or not enough tighten and it would get loose with time.
@peteywheatstraws4909 Жыл бұрын
A 3/4" A325 structural bolt should be between 250-425ft pounds. There are also TC bolts, which are pulled and snapped by a TC gun, which are used with load indicator washers. When the washer is flattened, it has been torqued.
