The rooftop of all your building needs to be considered and put in the game.

I just bought an AO Smith pressure tank for my system, which I'll be assembling soon. We did 12,000 gallons of rainwater catch off a 4000 sq ft shop building roof. I got the spin down filters as well in 100 and 50 microns, and then I'm going through 20 and 5 micron media filters, then charcoal, and then a UV light (this will be our drinking water). Thanks for the video... It gives me a quick look at what I'll be assembling soon. We are over by DeKalb and New Boston, Texas.

Awesome! I’ll add more filtration in the future when we connect it to the house for backup.

You could also pop a ball or gate valve on the inlet side of your pump so that you're not having to shut off the water at the tank every time you want to work on your pump.
@CountryLivingExperience

Thanks, I did that previously. I have three ball valves out by the tanks.

Hey you did a good job. Good to have options. Dud you ever try the inline rv filters to remove the salt. It should work good. Just a suggestion. Hope all is well with you and your family..... Jeff

Thanks. No, I didn't. Those RV filters don't remove sodium as far as I have seen.

If you should forget to put the hose clamp on, you can unscrew them, put them around the pipe, and screw it on.

Looks good, I'm so glad you have an alternative, I know several who've tried to filter the salt, nope didn't work well. Blessings ❤

Thanks. So you know more people with salty wells? Near Tyler?
@amsohn1
@amsohn1 8 ай бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience no, these are mostly in West Texas and most have been contaminated by the oil field salt wells. Some are for whatever reason have massively high amounts of salt, so they've used different filtration systems... most have not worked. Blessings

Wouldn't it be better to have the spin down BEFORE the pump to protect it from sediment?
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience Ай бұрын
The pump can handle sediment like that. The pressure tank cannot as it will build up inside and potentially abrade the bladder.

We’d get in trouble if we collected our rain water. Per Washington state law, the state owns every drop of water within the state, even if it’s rainwater. We’re not allowed to collect our rainwater for irrigation or for household use.
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 8 ай бұрын
I don't think that is correct. I found this...."In 2009, we issued a rainwater use interpretive policy, which clarifies that you may use water collected from your rooftop without a water right permit. However, there are rules on using rainwater as a potable (drinkable) water source." ecology.wa.gov/Water-Shorelines/Water-supply/Water-recovery-solutions/Rainwater-collection You might want to explore it again.

Wow, how ridiculous. It's all about total control. Whatever is used goes right back into nature as intended.

@@JWTX when our Governor was a state legislator, he was for the people and I voted for him. I voted for him as our governor because he was such a great legislator, but as soon as he became governor he sold out to the Communist Left and he’s ran Washington state into the ground. He follows governor Newsom of California so closely that I’m quite sure our governor Inslee nose and tongue is brown. Washington state really needs to split the Left from the Right. Most of us here in north central Washington to eastern Washington are Right. But there’s fewer of us here than on the Left side. It’s a shame, I grew up in SE Washington and it was fun to go to Seattle and now we avoid going there. We make sure we have a loaded weapon on our person when we go to Seattle. I spent my career in Tacoma and watched it deteriorate over the years with Inslee in office. After retiring I couldn’t wait to sell my home and move over here to the conservative side. It use to take me 40-45 minutes to drive from Fife to Olympia and now it takes 2-3 hours because of the population explosion. I was living over there when those idiots were blocking traffic. I had just gotten off the ferry and had an appointment in Tacoma when there were protesters on the sidewalk. One of them stepped out into my lane and put his fists on his hips. I had 1 of 2 choices: 1, stop my car and get dragged out and beaten, or 2, stomp my gas pedal to the floor. I chose #2. He dove out of my way and I watched as his ribs hit the curb. The next day when I got off the ferry, I didn’t see him and there were only a few protesters on the sidewalk. Two days prior to me hitting the gas a man in Seattle stopped and the protesters did pull him out of his car and almost beat him to death. I had a choice of him or me and it wasn’t going to be me. About a week later a guy in a Ram pickup pulling a flatbed trailer put the pedal to the metal and ran over 2 of those protesters. Right after that people stopped trying to block traffic. In my opinion, they got what they deserved. Now I’m sure some LibTard will read this post and I’ll be blocked by KZfaq for 24 hours

@@CountryLivingExperience I’ll have to check it out for Chelan County (where we live) what our specific rules are. Before retiring I lived in Pierce County and All homes built after 2006, the roof run off had to go into a “dry” tank with a septic line under ground, just like one has to do with a drain field. Pierce County has some stupid regulations. For instance, if you’re building a house outside of the city limits you Must put a concrete “apron” that leads into your driveway (even if your driveway is gravel), so that if by chance a fire truck needs to turn around, they’ll have a concrete slab to turn around on. Yes welcome to the Communist state of Washington. 🤬
