I would LOVE you to talk about how you ended up talking yourself around to Arianrhod actually being associated with the moon in some way. I see her more as associated with the stars than the moon but obviously those are linked by virtue of both being things you see in the night sky.

This is really fascinating and entertaining. For me personally audio quality makes it breaks podcasts and I was able to listen without having to force myself. Thanks for bringing it guys!

i think when studying deities you need to separate place of residence (moon for example) and role of deity. for example we have many spirits living on the moon (called land of women) but their role differs greatly (especially with female and male deities, is it Moon mother or Moon father, well both). also most of the uralic place names are actually names of spirit homes or ancestral sanctuaries (moon being just one of thousands, albeit important one). many of the main totems or human like deities literally led their people to the current home lands (often in animal form). so in that regard it´s very much connected to the land, it does not really transfer to other lands (you´d need to follow those ancestors who led you there, to america for example). as for changing the deities i would argue that they were generational to begin with (here they simply added son or daughter to the name of the original deity when they took the idols to the sanctuary, so just as the human generations continued so did the spirit generations, part of that process i still don´t understand). it´s very complicated because they even had two first names in some places (secret and spoken, one being the protection spirit´s name), the secret name was only used at birth home (possibly the family / birth spirit) and also some of the names were hereditory (grandfather´s name changed to father´s name when son married). however i would say that all you needed was something from the land (stone, branch, idol) and then you´d already have the land with you (because spirits could travel in these objects or be called to them, but even still they´d actually be thought to be living in their proper location).
