Probably the best tutorial I've watched on using the serger AND how to put the fabric together! You explain things so we'll and is easy to comprehend! Wondering though, I like to make shorts out of knit fabric (legging material) and I've not been overly successful because I do not have a cover stitch machine. On the fabric you are using in the video and the style shorts you made, you utilized a straight stich for the hems. What would you recommend instead for the hems on a knit without going back and fourth with serging and changing to a flat lock stitch?

Thanks Jeanne, It is most likely a simplicity basic shorts pattern. I'm not at home to see exactly what the pattern is. Sorry. Thanks for you comment :)

This is amazing! Going to try these, for sure. Now, when you do the foldover stitching for the final stage of the elastic waistband, you are simply serging (vs using a coverstitch), right? There would be a slight risk of cutting off some fabric, correct?

That's right but you just need to get comfy guiding. A little trimmed off in at process isn't a deal breaker. :) So glad you enjoyed it !!!

can you add pockets to the shorts using a serger? If so can you do a video on that? Thank you

It Depends on how the pattern is designed. You may need to serge the edges of the pockets and side seams then use your sewing machine to straight stitch up to the top and bottom of the pocket. :)

Sandra I used a basic simplicity shorts pattern. So any standard pattern with an elastic waist should be a great starting point. 🙂

@@suzanneg9684 Yes Susan it is. Although with the purchase through Udemy you have life time access of the technique tutorials. There are no live sessions included in this class concept. But If you want to have the tutorials to refer to forever is the benefit of this purchase. :)
