good Lord did you guys drive a pilot Super Sport? they have better cold weather performance than the p zero and are very effective up to about a hundred and sixty degrees. the rain traction is downright incredible and they have one of the best tread lifes I have ever seen on a Performance Tire. dry grip will also rival much lower utqg tires until you get into really hot temperatures where the dedicated track tires do what they are supposed to

Toyo Tires made nearby (White, Ga.) This plant has state of art equipment and technology... robotic assembly with robotic Quality Control allows for little or no balancing at the store. I just replaced my Yukon XL O.E. Goodyear with Toyo Open Country HT (265/70-17) and it drives and rides as well or better when the Yukon was brand new. This particular tire is best for heavy / full size SUVs, PickUp trucks. I am more than pleased with the price, tread design, ride, noise level....

I do my research and buy sub brand tires, they may have a different name but are made by Hancook, Cooper, Bridgestone and usually run around 30 bucks cheaper a tire with the Exact same quality and performance.

what happen to the A/T and M/T categories?

Yokohama geolanders was some of the best tires I ever had great off road quiet on road, they did wonderfully in the snow and when they wore down to almost nothing they were still super sticky to the road, I will buy them again never had any kind of problems with them on my dodge dakota

I just bought some Yokihamas G60 A/T for my Jeep Patriot, the best tires I have ever owned..it is a real comfort knowing your tires can handle any situation.

Hankook Dynapro atm is a great tire. Bought a set back in July 2013 for my 08 silverado 1500 crew cab 4 years and 74,000 miles later they still have excellent tread. But starting to show some cracks along the outer edge. They will dry Rot before the tread wears out. Time for another set.

We just bought a set of michelin cross terrain which are manufactured last 5th week of 2014. i did not noticed or we are not informed about the manufacturing date. then i search this tire model and its confirmed discontinued.. why? any one know this?

Kuhmo Crugen HT51 is a great alternative to Michelin defender for half the price. 70k mile treadwear rating.

Pirelli p zero tires are awsome I ran them on my thunderbird, and both of my mustang's but they dont wear well ,dunnlop, goodyear, falkin,toyo are good,we run cooper tires on my charger and they wear great, it depends what you want and your driving habbits ,I have road raced scca and have driven semi truck and have driven manny miles,and it depends on the compound and tire makeup.

How about the Douglas all season. We all cant pay $150 a tire.

My Michelin Defenders provided very poor snow traction even when new. Perhaps I got a set from a different factory than the examples CR has been testing. The Continental Truecontacts on my other car are much better. The consumer survey data over at Tire Rack seems to agree with my anecdotal experience.

Every set of Muchelins I've ever had were garbage. Last set I had lasted 2 years, replaced them with Yokohamas and they've lasted nearly 3 times as long.

I'm having good results with Yokohama tires.

I have Michelin tires on my pickup they're only about 3 years old and will have to be replaced next summer due to dry rot. Just took Firestone's off my other pick up that were nine years old had less dry rot then the Michelin Tires.

Where is the NOKIAN eNTYRE 2.0? WTF ! Just replaced the wornout, NOISY, POS Goodyears with Russian made Nokian eNTYRE's on my BMW Z3 .What an improvement in lower noise, handling, ride and tracking ! Nokian makes the BEST winter tire. Big seller up here in Canada !

What about those generic branded tires like nexen, general, etc?

I replaced my Michelin Latitude Tour HP's on my 2015 Lincoln MKC AWD with Sumitomo HTR A/S PO2 tires and the difference is like NIGH AND DAY folks...!!! Some Michelins just suck outright and the Latitude Tour HP is one of them. Plus, the Sumitomo's are half the cost of the Michelins and perform better in just about every area. You can't go wrong with the Sumitomo.

I buy Goodyear wrangler Duratracs for my pickup truck for use in Canada. I pay between $1200-1400 for a set of 4. you can't put a price on safety . Cheap tires are trash.

Hankook Dynapro , nice to see them getting some love. Never had any slippage with my set of tires, they do make some noise but nothing a good stereo won't fix ;-)

Seems Department of Transportation should start testing tires through Underwriters Laboratories vs leaving Consumer Reports Magazine to testing so few tires on America's roads!

Michelin's are good tires but they dry rot!!!!

I wanted the Crosstek because they looked awesome, like offroad.. Well, at the same price they offered the Crosstek 2. Installed mounted and balanced, front wheel alignment in Jul 2017 - Minnesota... 3.6l 4X2 20" gave them a easy 300 mile break in. Dec 2017 had them rotated per NITTO 7k.. It's Feb 2018 and I have 8k on them and no sign of wear yet - rated for 60k... If your looking for a great all weather look no further.. Quiet, smooth, handling dry awesome. I haven't been in deep snow yet.. You have to drive with sense in snow anyway. Once used the traction control and on I went... And these tires are manufactured in Georgia...

I have Michelin Defender tires on my civic. I dont like that they're constantly losing air due to fluctuations in the weather temps.

+1. .. for Pirelli P Zero's. .. We'll raise my rent !! .. would have bet the farm on the Michelin Pilot Super Sports in the "summer sports car" tire category. .. Okay, the P Zero it is. .. Back in the day say year 2000 or so I had that decades P Zero model on my '98 911 C2S coupe...Sized; 255/40/ZR17 .. It was a high performance tire no doubt. .. fast forward 15 years to year 2016. .. Presently four of our cars are wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport sneakers; 911 C2S coupe, VW GLI sedan, Subaru Outback XT and Frau's Boxster S. .. Excellent summer only tire: Short braking, sharp turn in, comfortable-quiet ride character, solid connected feel in rain @ Hwy speed, non existent hydroplaning, crumby wear longevity @ 20,000 miles the wear bars are close. .. In another 4k to 5k miles you are thoroughly on top of the Super Sports wear bars. .. That being said, I know the Pilot Super Sports pretty well. .. The VW GLI is next up for new sneakers. .. We'll follow CR's lead by fitting a set of the test leading P Zero's w/size 225/45/R17. .. Can't wait, with performance beyond the Michelin Super Sports .... yheee ha, yee ha, xxx..

pilot supersports are better than pzeros

I had p zero neros on my STI when I first bought it and really didn't like them. I've had much more success with my Dunlop Direzza z2's, which aren't even rated at the top of summer performance street tires.

Not sure how the Defenders are rated so highly. Had them on my car, the treadlife was poor (only about 30K mi and that's high from what I've seen on tire rack reviews) and lose their quietness pretty quickly. Also the XiCe 3 is a trash snow tire compared to the Blizzaks, I've used both. The XICE doesn't like deep snow and slush nearly as much.

So means the most expensive tires are the best. I was expecting to see more brands than these few I already knew is the best.

For trucks, Goodyear tires are the best bang for your buck.

BFG RUGGED TERRAIN tires have been DISCONTINUED due to tread separation problems. I had to take mine off with only 24k on 'em...just sayin'. Got warranty discount and replaced with Toyo OPEN COUNTRY...much better tire!

An app where you could try different wheels and tires on a picture of your vehicle would probably sell more products. Think about it and don't forget where the idea comes from .lol.

I went to a Les Schwab to get a free tire rotation. The guy said I needed new tires. So he gives me 4 estimates for different tire brands. I never even HEARD of any of the brands! I asked where these tires were made. He said he did not know, so we went in back and pulled down one tire from each brand. 2 were made in China, 1 in Korea, 1 in Japan. Thanks Les Schwab, for selling cheap Asian tires to make a quick extra buck! To hell with safety, just get the customer's money. I buy name brand tires only - Goodyear, Michelin, B.F. Goodrich, Cooper, Continental.
