I once had a talk with my christian aunt about natural disasters that destroy houses, killing thousands of people and leaving the survivors homeless. Her answer was:"Who told them to build their houses there?". At that point I gave up reasoning.

If Scripture is infalliable, why do so many struggle to understand it? That seems like a huge flaw to me. God, with His omnipotent grace would be capable of making the book more understandable or, better yet, He would not have trusted men to write it in the first place.

When I was much younger I was religious and followed alot of the teachings here. Like I was 'all in' and didnt question it at all. I prayed one night and as a 'feel good' to myself I prayed to get affirmation that my own held beliefs were correct something along the lines of "what is your favorite people?". I then went to bed like normal and didnt think about it at all. I then had a dream of talking to something which in my dream i had thought was god and he said "atheists." and i was just super confused in my dream so i was just like 'what?' and they replied "atheists are my favorite people as they work on bettering the world for no other reason than its the right thing to do. They better themselves and the things around them only bcuz its the right thing to do and not bcuz some book I have nothing to do with told them to. I wish for you to grow as a person and explore and learn about the universe I made for you." I then woke up in a massive sweat. I slowly fell away from the church after that. Looking back it was likely my brain just trying to think more logically about a situation and parse the contradictions I held all equally true in my head. I dont believe in a god but if there is a god, they are not the god of the bible or any bible for that matter.

My poor christian husband uses the "out of context" argument all the time. He is very busy studying the bible and listening to apologists to try to make sense of this nonsense. He was indoctrinated as a small child and it has brainwashed him completely.
