Your explanation for each and every contradiction here must have better explanatory power than "Well, maybe it just got written down wrong or something." (Read on...)

Yes. Maybe it got written down wrong. Or copied wrong by some anonymous copyist along the way. Or mistranslated from the original language (Jesus and his followers spoke Aramaic, the New Testament was written in Greek). MAYBE SOMEONE GOT IT WRONG.
What is wrong with any of those as explanations for the bible texts being in the shape they're in? Maybe it got written down wrong or something. Maybe, just maybe, it got written down wrong. That explains... ummm let me see,.... EVERYTHING, and requires no leaps of logic, no invented narrative glue, no convoluted excuses, no reliance on mysterious inconceivable underhand moves by an invisible deity who deemed it better to have his central, most important message to his favored species become filled with EVEN apparent errors, conflicts, and contradictions.
How NOT to respond to this movie:
a) By assuming that I have not looked into these contradictions with any level of depth and accusing me of not having tried to understand any kind of "deeper meaning". Wherever possible, I consulted christians' explanations. I've given them a good go. They're just shit.
b) By saying that these aren't errors at all, rather, that they are simply copyist's errors. Uh- derr. A copyist's error is an error. I don't care what kind of error it is, just don't make the claim that the bible is completely free of errors, except for the cases in which there are errors, which are only copyist's errors only, which aren't really errors.
c) If you agree with me that English translations of the bible contain errors, but you think that the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts are pure and therefore true - DON'T tell me this and then go on to criticise me and other skeptics for pointing out that the English translations contain errors!
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. That which can be asserted without evidence can be discarded without evidence.
I know, and actually find to have some weight, the New Testament apologists' conundrum - namely that if all of the gospel accounts really did match exactly, then critics of the bible would instantly accuse the authors of having conspired together. So, if there are inconsistencies it counts against the bible, and if there were no inconsistencies, it would still count against the bible.
Well - tough. The creator of the universe could have done a lot better. The only reasonable conclusion to come to is that the creative force that arranged the constants of the universe, gave birth to galaxy clusters, quantum physics and DNA, invented love, knowledge and truth, and is capable of any miracle he could ever come up with- had fuck all to do with this raggedy old contradictory book of bullshit.
Whenever I make a movie about what the bible says, I'm talking about the actual words that are printed on the pages of the bible. Funny how I always get criticised for doing so, by people who agree that modern translations or English translations are inadequate and erroneous.
________________________________________
I was very selective when deciding whether to include each contradiction in the script. Many that were listed on the lists and websites appeared to me to be either non-contradictory, easily explained, or simply too petty to really count significantly against the claim of biblical inerrancy. I drew heavily on skepticsannotatedbible.com , which actually has links to christian responses to each of the contradictions it lists, where one has been put forward. I read almost all of them and if the explanation sounded like a bunch of bollocks to me, then I dismissed the explanation and included the contradiction in the script. One of the criteria I used to ascertain whether I thought the explanation was good enough, was whether I thought a christian would accept a similar explanation for a contradiction in any other religions holy book, such as the Qaran or Book of Mormon.
For example:
LookingUntoJesus.net has this pathetic explanation for one of the contradictions:
"The text which is called into question is Luke 2:2. If Jesus was born in the days of Herod (who presumably died in 4 BC), then how could Quirinius be governing Syria (who presumably began his reign in 6 AD)?
The trouble is in the English translation of the text, not in the text itself. Keep in mind that the New Testament was written in Greek, not English. Since the translators were not inspired, there is the potential for erroneous translations". (LookingUntoJesus.net)

i spent a few hours to answer all the questions. summary is at the end. also everyone should checkout youtube channel "whaddo you meme", hes debunks these arguments and more. 1. how long does God's anger last? answer: that's up to God, if a person repents they are forgiven, if they don't repent they go to hell forever. so his anger is forever and not forever at the same time. it depends on if the person repents and importantly God was speaking to a specific group of people. its not contradiction its lack of understanding. 2. does Yahweh tempt people? answer: God doesnt tempt but God allows people to be tempted by satan. God only test people. Abraham sacrificing his child was a test, not a tempt. 3. is a man justified by faith or works or both? answer: a man is justified by faith but faith should lead you into good works. you cannot say you have faith and do bad works then you didn't have faith. faith leads to the good works. 4. has anyone seen God or no one has seen God? answer: when people see God in the old testament they see a vessel of God, like Moses seeing God, but hes seeing a burning bush, or clouds, etc. that is not God, for God is spirit and eyes cannot see God. what they saw is a vessel of God that God spoke through to them. No man hath seen God the Father except the Son of God Jesus Christ. and even the body Jesus had was a vessel he used because he said he existed with the father before coming on earth. 5. does Yahweh delight in burnt offerings? answer: you have to obey him first. the verses are not contradicting, God is telling the people that when he brought their fathers Moses etc out of the land of Egypt he didn't tell them anything concerning burnt offering, but he told them specifically to obey him. the people didnt care about obeying God but they cared about burnt offering. if you read in context its easy to understand. 6. is God the author of evil? answer: what is evil? God would punish people in hell is that evil?. evil is relative. other translations say, God creates calamity. calamity is also like destroying people in sodom and gomorrah by fire, is that evil?. again, evil is relative. when God does something we don't call it evil although it can be a calamity. 7. was humans created before the animals? answer: Genesis 1 is giving you a day by day steps. Genesis 2 is not giving you any day by day steps, genesis 2 is giving you different stories together not step by step. the point is, God created humans and animals in one day, there's also possibility he created some animals first, then human second then other animals etc. again, its not an hour by hour to-do list, its a whole day by day what was done in the day. 8. on the road to Damascus did paul's travelling companions hear the voice that spoke to paul? answer: acts 9 : 7 is clear, they heard the voice they couldn't see who spoke. acts 22 : 9, says they didn't understand. some translations write they "heard not". the point is, they heard but they didn't understand. another meaning for "heard not" is inaudible, meaning you're hearing but you cannot get what is being said, like you're listening to another language. imagine you're speaking to a friend and he quickly speaks another language, and you ask him, hey i didn't hear what you said, basically you heard it but you didn't understand and since you didn't understand you think you didn't hear it. in short they heard but didn't understand. 9. will the earth last forever? answer: other verse the author says one generation passes and another comes but the earth would last forever. the author is contrasting the humans passing to the earth always existing. its like saying, generations have come and gone but this earth is always here meaning generations would still come and go and the earth would still be here. the word forever, is actually flexible, it means a long time, example in the bible verse psalm 23 : 6, it says "and i would dwell in the house of the lord forever" does it mean we live in the house of God eternity? no. the author is saying he would be with God till the end of his life on earth. so in short its misunderstanding by people. secondly, some Christians believe there would be a new earth with paradise. so technically the earth would still be for eternity. 10. is Jesus the only man to have ascended to heaven? answer: Jesus was speaking here saying "If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man." two answers, there is possibility Jesus is telling the people hes speaking to, none of them has ascended to heaven. which is the fact. secondly, Jesus is telling the people, he came down from heaven so he has superior knowledge. no one has ascended to heaven and back with such a knowledge. do you think Jesus doesnt know prophets ascended to heaven? no. context is important.

11. are children to be put to death for the sins of the father? answer: Only God can do that. we are not to put children to death for the sins of the father. but same as God destroyed sodom and gomorrah, likely they had children, meaning the children likely suffered for the sins of their parents. so as moses law, we humans are not to put people to death for the sins of their fathers. 12. does God rest? answer: no. the verses he quoted doesnt say anything about God resting. but there are verses like God resting on the 7th day. it doesnt literally mean he went to rest for energy. it simply means he stopped creation. if you don't work on a day, its considered rest day, but are you really resting if you aren't tired?. no. its simply misunderstanding, applying basic logic to a verse. 13. how many valiant men of soldiers? answer: he took two different books of the bible and expect them to have the same number? lol. should they go to war everyday with the same number of soldiers? such a silly logic. its basically two different stories. 14. how many horse men? answer: same as above. two different stories from different books of the bible. 15. how many shekels? answer: Two different stories. 16. David killed how many men? answer: two different stories. what did they expect? David to only have one war?. such a silly logic. this is hilarious very weak atheist arguments. 17. how many people reviled Jesus on the cross? answer: you're comparing stories of witnesses of an event writing their accounts. one author says, those who were crucified with Jesus were insulting him, another says, One of them was insulting him, meaning the authors heard he was insulted. so they insulted Jesus and one repented later on. 18. how many blind men Jesus healed at Jericho one or two ? answer: Jericho is a city Jesus went frequently, there is possibility its different days or different times of the same day. the logic of the atheist is funny, hes expecting one miracle one event one person. Jesus performed miracles throughout the cities back and forth. 19. how many people visited Jesus tomb? answer: the logic of the question is flawed. when i write a story and say, trump visited india, and another person writes the story and says trump and his son visited india and another person says trump and all his security and his son visited india is it contradictory? no. each author is writing what they think its important to know. you take all together and form the complete story. the gospels are accounts of different authors of the life of Jesus, why would you expect them to copy paste from each other? lol. i really laughed at this question. 20. original designated punishment for fortune telling? answer: death. when Jesus came he brought sin and repentance. that's why when they were about to stone the adulterer Jesus said, he without sin cast the first stone, and Jesus forgave her. but God would still punish fortune tellers with hell which is the second death. 21. hitting your parents? answer: not death. do you think they just killed people for just tapping their parents? be realistic. the verse is regarding people who hit/beat their parents to the extent could cause death. 22. cursing parents? answer: this form of cursing is different from the modern form of cursing where we use swear words. that form of cursing was a spiritual form of cursing using the name of God its similar to spiritism. you can research on this as explained by Jews themselves. you think they're going to kill their kids for saying f*ck you dady?. lol. 23. a person who rejects the verdict of the judge or priest must be put to death? answer: Moses is telling them anyone who doesnt obey the priest or judge appointed by God in the land they are going, the person who disobeys their verdict must be put to death. it was considered contempt of court to disobey the verdict of the judge.

24. death for following another religion or not seeking Yahweh? answer: it says to the Jews he that sacrifices to another God except Yahweh should be put to death. the law applied only within themselves. they dont apply this law now because of Christ taking our sins away as we can easily repent. but people who still worship other gods would still face hell which is the second death. 25. prostitution or adultery death? answer: yes that was the punishment then, and Jesus forgave the adultery. as above, we have now repentance. but those who don't repent would face the second death, hell. 26. the rest of the round was the same repetition of the laws and the punishment which my answer would be the same as above 24 25. 27. rich as blessing, or giving to the poor? answer: we are blessed with riches and also we are supposed to help the poor then we get blessed more. its a cycle. 28. did the temple curtain rip before or after Jesus died? answer: it ripped during the time Jesus died. you're reading an account of three people, and the temple was at a different location from his crucifixion location, so they later heard the temple robe split into two, and this was because of his death, do you expect them to copy paste eachother story? no. one writes, after he died, one writes as he was dying. the point is, the robe split during his death. its like someone writes a story and say, he saw two cars in an accident on the street in the morning, another person later in the afternoon goes to see the cars at the same location not towed away, he says, he saw two cars in an accident. the point is they are giving the vital story of two cars that had an accident since they both might have not even seen the exact time the cars collide. the disciples were at the cross, they got news the robes split in the temple. why would you expect them to copy eachother story?. lol. 29. who put the purple robe on Jesus, Pilate soldiers or Herod soldiers? answer: the next verse says "12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves." in short, their soldiers. he was sent between Pilate and Herod consistently, meaning eachside soldiers were moving from one base to the other so if he was worn a robe at any of the sides base the other side army who brought him along would also join in, since they are friends. 30. did Jesus curse the fig tree before or after driving the merchants from the temple? answer: you're comparing witnesses writing an event of what they recalled happening on a day. why would you expect them to copy paste eachother?. the gospel of Mathew is known to be arranged topically rather than chronologically. 31. was Jesus born during the reign of Herod or during the governorship of Caesar?. answer: he didn't have a problem with Pilate and Caesar regarding Jesus robe, but he now has a problem with Herod and Caesar both being leaders? lol this atheist is funny. then they didn't have a country, they had people ruling districts like cities, so they had different leaders at different jurisdictions. 32. when the women arrived at Jesus tomb was the tomb opened or closed? answer: none of the verses say they arrived at a closed tomb, it says, the one that the atheist thought it suggested that, says the women came to see the tomb, meaning they took the journey to go see the tomb. likely the tomb was opened before they arrived and they met the keepers or security running back. 33. did Judas die by hanging or dying by falling and spilling his guts? answer: both, the hanging verse doesnt even say that's how he died. it just said he hanged himself. the later verse shows he actually died, so both is right, he hanged himself and fell and died. so in summary. i. read the verses in context. ii. understand that the gospels are written in level of importance or chronology based on the author. iii. the laws of death was practiced and now we can repent, but if people don't repent they face second death which is hell. basically we have easier repentance. iv. some stories are different.

@@thehonesttruth415 I've tried posting this a couple times, but I don't see anything. I'm going to try splitting it up as well and see if that makes a difference. I’m not sure why you responded to me instead of just making a regular comment (which would be toward the actual creator of the video), but I’ll give it a go I guess. 1. Did you actually look at the verses he referenced? Jeremiah 17:4 says, “I will enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for you have kindled my anger, and it will burn forever.” It doesn’t say “and it will burn forever unless you repent.” Micah also doesn’t mention anything about repentance. Funny how God doesn’t seem to care about repentance until the new testament. 2. Ah yes, the distinction between temptation and testing. You’re right though, Abraham wasn’t tempted, because tempting implies some benefit if he does it. The reason Abraham was totally willing to murder his son was because he was afraid of God: “Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” I’m not sure why the all-loving and all-merciful God would tell someone to murder their son, and I’m doubly not sure why such a god would want a prophet that’s willing to murder their own son just because God said to, but okay. 3. Again, did you even look at the verses? James 2:24 says, “You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone,” and Romans 3:28 says, “For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.” Those are clearly and directly contradictory. And before you say, “But different authors!” or something, let me remind you that the point of the video is not necessarily to “disprove” the bible, it’s to show that it is self-contradicting. The bible is supposed to be the infallible word of God, which is why it’s taken so seriously, no? So every time you say, “Well actually, it’s okay that the bible contradicts itself because it was written by multiple fallible humans,” you’re only proving the point of the video. Perhaps you should read the description because you clearly haven’t already. 4. There are plenty of instances of people seeing God, such as Genesis 32:30 where Jacob sees him “face to face,” but okay. Let me guess, they’re all out of context or not interpreted correctly. “Face to face” doesn’t actually mean face to face, right? It must be nice to able to pick what fits your belief and ignore all the rest. Can you answer two questions for me? Is God all powerful or not? Because if he is, he can do whatever the fuck he wants, like appear in front of humans with his true form. And is God human-like? Christians say all the time that we’re made in God’s image, so why can’t he appear in his true form? Is he not human-like? If he is, what is so shocking about his true form that we can’t see it? 5. “You have to obey him first” is not an answer to a yes or no question. Does God or does God not enjoy ritualistically sacrificing animals by fire? Here’s God speaking in Gen 22:2; “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering.” 6. Ignoring the verses again I see. Isaiah 45:7 specifically says, “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.” Are you going to say it’s a mistranslation or something? Because again, read the description of the video. Also, are you really arguing for relative morality right now? Last I checked, the main Christian position is that morality comes from God and is objective. NonStampCollector has other videos showcasing plenty of “evil” things that Yahweh has done, and if you’re going to say, “But when God does it, it’s not actually evil, it’s just a ‘calamity,’” then why does anyone need the bible for morality? Plenty of people have a sense of morality that these things God has done are wrong, so either morality doesn’t come from God or God is immoral according to the morals that HE gave us. 7. And how do we even know any of this happened? You mention several times that “Oh this is just because there’s different authors recounting their own experience,” but I’m pretty sure there weren’t any fuckin humans around when God created all of existence. So we’re supposed to just trust shit like this because “the bible says it happened so it did,” but in other areas that becomes “well there’s different authors”? 8. Read the description of the video. The bible is supposed to be the instructions from an all-powerful being, so it should be pretty damn clear, but it isn’t. Many people claim that the bible is infallible, and the point of this video is to show that it isn’t. This is supposed to be one of the most important documents in existence, created by the most powerful being in existence to spread his message, and yet you have to sit there and explain, “Well actually, it says one thing but that’s not what it actually means.” 9. Okay, sure, but there’s still the same issue as 8. “I know this is the most essential book in the world that tells you how to save yourself so you don’t suffer in hell forever (which apparently might not actually be forever since forever apparently doesn’t mean forever), but you have to interpret it very carefully because it’s not very clear cut with its meanings.” The fact that there are so many different Christian sects only proves this even more. Why is your interpretation correct whereas “some Christians” are wrong? All the different sects believe different things even though they all use the same book, and that’s a problem. 10. Jesus specifically says that no one has ever gone into heaven except himself, and the other verse says Elijah went to heaven. This isn’t a matter of context, it’s a matter of Jesus saying something that is contradictory to another part of the bible. Even if you’re correct, the point of the video is that the bible cannot be taken at face value.

11. Oh okay, so as long as God does it, it’s fine. I mean, in my mind, punishing someone for something they didn’t do simply because their parents did it is morally wrong, but when God does it, it’s not evil. It’s just a “calamity” huh? God is all-loving and all-merciful, except when he isn’t and punishes children for no reason because he’s a jealous psychopath. 12. “It’s simply misunderstanding.” Are you perhaps “misunderstanding” the definition of the word “weary”? You can also pull whatever mental gymnastics you want about how God isn’t ACTUALLY resting when it says rest, but the bible says that he rests. Even if you’re correct here, you’re only further proving that the bible can’t be taken at face value because it doesn’t actually mean what it says. 13. Oh okay. So when there’s a problem with eye witness accounts, it’s “They’re just retelling their own version so it’s expected that there would be some inaccuracies,” but here it’s “They’re not even the same story.” How convenient. Well, Mr. Context-is-important, when you look at the rest of those verses, it looks like the same story to me. 2 Samuel 24:2 says, “So the king said to Joab and the army commanders with him, ‘Go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and enroll the fighting men, so that I may know how many there are,’” and 1 Chronicles 21:2 says, “ So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, ‘Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are.’” They both also mention David feeling guilt and God giving David three options, among other things. They are so clearly the same story, you must be delusional to think they aren’t. 14. Same as above. Are you genuinely delusional, or are you just smoking something? Reading 2 Samuel 8 and 1 Chronicles 18 is like reading the same damn thing. “He defeated the Philistines, then he defeated the Moabites, then he defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.” Are you telling me he fucking fought and defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah twice? It’s painfully obvious that they’re the same story. It’s strange that you try to act like they aren’t, but for other issues you try to argue that “it’s just the author’s retelling.” 15. This is in the same damn chapter as 13, and again, they’re so obviously the same story about David building an altar. I don’t know if you’re just in denial or if you genuinely think these are different stories, but either way, your opinion on the bible isn’t very credible at this point. 16. We’re still dealing with Samuel and Chronicles, which are apparently the same damn book, so why would these be different stories? After describing the chief killing 300/800 in one encounter, they both go on to talk about Eleazar and how he fought with David at Pas Dammim and how three of the thirty chief warriors came to see David at Adullam. What do you hope to accomplish by suggesting that they’re not the same story when they clearly are? 17. What are you even talking about right now? Each story specifically says two criminals are crucified with Jesus but give different accounts about what they say. It’s not just a matter of “Well we heard insults.” Mark and Matthew both says that both rebels insulted Jesus, but Luke says that one was nice to Jesus. There’s eyewitness testimony and then there’s lying. If one of the criminals was nice to Jesus, why would Mark and Matthew not mention that? Frankly, I’m surprised you didn’t try to tell us that they were just talking about different stories. 18. Potentially, but this is talking about the same story. Mark, Matthew, and Luke all keep repeating each other, and this is the same. There’s mention of “the Little Children and Jesus” in both Mark and Luke, “Jesus Predicts His Death a Third time” in all three, and so on. They also all talk about the story of the blind man, and it’s pretty clearly the same story. It’s pretty easy to see that when you look at the context, which is something you supposedly love so much. Jesus, his disciples, and a large crowd leave/approach Jericho, there’s a blind man/men who start shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” The man is then rebuked by the crowd, but he shouts again. It’s the same story, but somehow the eyewitnesses got confused about how many blind people there were. 19. “Why would you expect them to copy paste from each other?” I don’t know, maybe because they’re talking about the same events? Imagine being a juror on some murder case, and the first witness says, “The body was discovered by Mary.” The second witness says, “The body was discovered by Mary and the other Mary.” The third witness says, “The body was discovered by Mary, Mary, and Salome.” Wouldn’t you be like, “Why are these people giving me different versions of the same event?” You would think that one of the most important events in the world - the literal son of God rising from the dead - people would be consistent about things. The authors aren’t just being generic, they’re mentioning these people by name. You’re also ignoring the angel part, where some mention two angels and some only mention one angel. Are you seriously going to tell me that these dumbass authors thought it was insignificant to mention how many angels there were? “Two angels came down? Eh, the audience only needs to know that there was one angel.” 20. Yes, congratulations, that’s what the video said. The whole point of this segment, in case you missed the intro to it, is that God is supposed to be all-loving and all-merciful, and “death” being the answer to anything runs counter to that. 21. “Hitting your parents isn’t punished by death, the verse is only talking about children who hit their parents REALLY HARD, only then are they punished by death.” - You. 22. First of all, you’re not denying that the penalty is death. Secondly, you’re nuts. You make it sound like these children are getting killed because they’re performing some satanic ritual, but in actuality, the punishment is death simply for using God’s name in the “curse.” So no, they don’t get killed for saying, “Fuck you daddy,” they get killed for saying, “God damn you daddy.” Either way, it still isn’t very all-loving and all-merciful. 23. Again, you’re not denying that the punishment is death. You can explain it as much as you want and make it seem very reasonable from this perspective or that perspective, but from the perspective of “God loves everyone and is full of mercy,” death is not an appropriate punishment.

@@notaseagull3320Giving a hard limit to the number to use is a little convenient, but I’ll give a shot at explaining even just the first 5. God does not have hatred for us, but for our sinful hearts and actions. God protected Judah, but they turned away from Him and thus turned away His protection as well. The punishment for their sin is separation from God, and that left them exposed to conquest. In Micah the ode states that God has immense mercy for us despite our sin and forgives us. This is later strengthened through Jesus who gave us a way to be with God in Heaven. While these seem to demonstrate that God both forgives and doesn’t forgive, it isn’t exactly that simple. God is infinitely holy, and cannot be in the presence of sin, so therefore any sin separates us infinitely from God without His mercy. God hates sin and through our own choices we turn away from His mercy and must accept the consequences of those actions.
@LHS_Shadow
@LHS_Shadow 9 ай бұрын
@@notaseagull3320The second one isn’t even debatable at all as God did not tempt Abraham, but tested his faithfulness. God cannot tempt because it is sinful to tempt someone into sin as the Bible states that anyone who pushes another to sin is guilty of the same sin. The third is stating that we are only saved by God’s mercy through Jesus, but faith without works is a little pointless. Yes, you are saved, but it is like saying that just because a man is hired he is employed, but if he does no work, his reward will be little. We demonstrate our faith and love for God through our actions, but it is not by our own actions that we are saved.
@LHS_Shadow
@LHS_Shadow 9 ай бұрын
@@notaseagull3320the fourth one is no man can see God, in His entirety. God can project Himself through vessels, such as the burning bush. Even in exodus it showed that when Moses was with God, his face was glowing afterwards due to God’s holiness and power. The fifth one is also irrelevant as burnt offerings are in remembrance as even stated in the very same verse that was cited in the video. It states that it is for His name to be remembered and He will bless you. Even the cited verse in Jeremiah shows this stating that God did not say that He wants or demands burnt offerings, but said to obey His commands so their life will go well. The sacrifices and burnt offerings are meant in remembrance for us to obey His commands.

It blatantly shows as just one of many examples why the bible is inconsistent and contradictory all the while Christians will claim all the live long day that the bible is the word or God and he is perfect and infallible and is not the author of confusion even though the Bible is the absolute most confusing and inconsistent book on earth. It also shows that the stone was already moved before they arrived which would be a simple coincidence that lead them to believe Jesus rolled it away and walked out versus some wild witness to an earthquake and angels coming down to move the stone. If you caught your kids sneaking cookies out of an unopened package and they told you that an angel came down and opened it up and gave them the cookies, what would your response be to that explanation?

Charles McMillion that is a complete misunderstanding of God and his ways. This video has no actual contradictions because it fails to actually look into what each of those verses actually mean, just as you fail to realize the truth of God’s will. God isn’t a puppet master who controls everything. People aren’t cursed and they aren’t doomed. Children starving is an issue created by the world, not by God. God works in “mysterious ways” because we can’t comprehend it, which is what makes it funny that you attempt to. You don’t and could not know the ultimate, divine will of the omnipotent God. You can’t, and I can’t for that matter, fathom hardly a thing about God and Heaven and his plan. Our human brains aren’t big enough. I don’t blame you for being completely off basis though, because the Bible says that those who have not received the spirit cannot have spiritual knowledge, and thus can’t understand spiritual matters. You can believe what you believe, after all, only God can save people and thus I can’t do a thing but plant a seed, but i won’t allow for you to say things that are inherently untrue. People dying is proof that people are imperfect and sinful, not that God doesn’t care. If humans really are so bad and evil, why should ANYTHING good happen? I think that’s the question you need to ask.

@@aurumjust5539 I've read the Bible. I grew up reading the Bible in a Pentecostal/Baptist. Actually *reading* the Bible is why I left the church. Following is a spot-on summary of what the Bible actually says. You let me know when you can make any of it sensible. The Bible in 2 Minutes by Ms. Rachel C. Millison God who is "vengeful", "furious" and "full of wrath" but who also, somehow "is love"... Creates the universe, including imperfect human beings, evil to tempt them and Hell to eternally torture them in when they inevitably fall for it. The entire first version of the human race is tainted with original sin and condemned because the proto-woman, who was made from a rib of a sand-man, bit the fruit of a magic tree-of-knowledge after being duped by a talking snake that was actually a manifestation of the evil God created in the first place. Even though he "is love", God gets upset and kills all the proto-peoples' descendants in a giant magical flood that over-topped all the mountains on Earth but somehow left no flood layer in the sedimentary record. Everyone and everything dies, except for the family of a 600 year-old man who built a giant boat and floated away with some 12 million species of plants and animals who commuted from all over the world to the Ark in pairs, even though many, if not most of those species reproduce asexually. Not to be outdone by a snake, a donkey talks later on as well. To the second version of the human race, who are also somehow responsible for the whole talking-snake thing, God offers forgiveness. But, there's a hitch, because the omnipotent, omniscient creator of the Universe apparently can't just forgive humans. He has to send part of himself (Spirit) to Earth to impregnate a Jewish girl so she can give birth to another part of himself (Jesus) so that that part of himself (Jesus) can be killed as a blood sacrifice to himself (God). This part of him (Jesus) was with himself (God) from the beginning of time, but somehow forgets about it when he gets to Earth. He gets dunked in a river and recovers at least part of his memory. Before being sacrificed, he spends 3 years teaching people to "love your enemies", "turn the other cheek" and forgive, even though the other part of him, which is "a jealous and avenging God", "takes vengeance on his adversaries, reserves wrath for his enemies" and "visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation". God, who commands humans to have no other gods before him but is somehow three-gods-in-one, outlines all of this in a holy book, but it's so obscure, inconsistent and self-contradictory that virtually no two groups of humans can agree on what it really means, and often end up killing each other over it. Apparently, the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of the Universe can't just write a clear instruction manual, either. In any case, if people don't get the message about being inherently evil and needing forgiveness, the part of himself he sent to Earth to be killed in the blood sacrifice to himself will judge them accordingly and he will send them to Hell to writhe in agony for all eternity, because he loves them and "is good to all". The End.

@Xeno The Strange whether you believe in God or not or whether we are idiots for believing isn't the issue here, the problem is that a bunch of people are showing up on YT videos yelling "contradiction" right and left without even looking at the entire picture. How many skeptics have actually read the bible cover to cover? I'm willing to say less than 1% yet they see other people commenting on contradictions and they jump right in the wagon without a solid foundation. @@AsianAnticsOfficial let's start with basic stuff. I'll simplify some things for now, and you're free to ask questions: 1) the Exodus never happened 🙅‍♂ neither was there a new bright star in the sky when Jesus was born 2) a lot of normal early Christians didn't believe that Jesus was god, but they were outlawed by the Christian elite later on (see Arianism), claimed to be heretics. obviously, they didn't believe in the trinity either. people do tend to become deified with time (the Buddha, Krishna, Roman emperors, etc.). now you may realise why the Christian elite would make up new verses in the Bible (see next point) 3) a whole sea of verses and chapters are inauthentic: Matthew 17:21, 1 John 5:7 (second half), Acts 8:37, Mark 16:9-20, John 1:1-18; 7:53-8:11; chapter 21 4) sometimes additional words are inserted in translations. there's no "fasting" in the original verse of 1 Corinthians 7:5. 1 Timothy 3:16 - the original says "who/which" (ὅς), not "God" (Θεός). 5) there are a lot of discrepancies in the Bible, because these stories were oral legends during dozens of years before being written down for the first time (btw, the Gospels weren't written by eyewitnesses of Jesus). compare for example Matthew 9:18-26 (the girl's dead) and Mark 5:21-43 (alive); Acts 9:1-9 (people heard the voice, but didn't see anyone), Acts 22:1-9 and 26:4-14 (people see the light, but don't hear the voice). 6) hell is fake, even if you only look at the contradictory Bible itself. there are some parts with eternal punishment, and there are others with no eternal punishment, and each Christian chooses which parts to believe and which parts of the Bible to ignore. look: * "You have become terrified And you will cease to be forever" - 'sinful' people will cease forever. they won't burn forever. * "fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" - souls will be destroyed. no eternity. * "surely a live dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten" - there's no afterlife. I could go on for hours. long story short, both modern understanding of the Bible and its initial statements are absolutely fake. do you have any specific questions?

Jesus died for us all! Have a wonderful day! Jesus is God! (The Holy Trinity is the truth) 1. Jeremiah 17:4 is saying that God’s anger burns forever against sin, not sinners. 2. God wasn’t tempting Abraham, he was testing his faith, to see if he was devout enough to lead his people. 3. These aren’t contradictory, but complementary. Paul says that you are only saved by faith and faith alone, Jesus explains that if you truly have faith in him, you would follow his commandments, and James goes in to further detail about what Faith is. 4. The Holy Trinity is complex, but the face you can’t see is The Father’s, and the face you can see is The Son’s (Jesus.) 5. Gods happy about the burnt offerings, but he’s really happy about your obedience to him. What good is buying someone a gift if you don’t respect them? The gift is empty that’s what it is, devoid of love or emotion. Just like burnt offerings were without obedience. (There’s no need for burnt offerings anymore though) 6. I’m not even sure what you mean by this, but God created everything, even those who do evil, but that doesn’t mean that God wants evil. 7. Hard to explain this, so let me visualize it for you. /spawn human(s) /spawn animal(s) /rank: (Human>Animal=true) 8. The men may have heard the voice of the lord, but Paul didn’t know that, being preoccupied with blindness and knowledge of the lord, so he makes a mistake and says later that they didn’t hear him. Acts wasn’t written by Paul, so it’s possible the correct information came about to the author, and the author just told it as it was, but telling the correct story in the chapter that tells Paul’s encounter as it happened, not Paul’s recount of the encounter in a speech he gave later on. 9. 2 Peter 3:10 doesn’t say the earth will be totally destroyed, havoc will just be wreaked upon it to cleanse its sin. The Earth will turn into a paradise once the rapture is over, Revelation 21. 10. John 3:13 means that nobody has ever returned from heaven, not that nobody has ever gone there. 11. Deuteronomy 5:9 refers to children who continue in their parents footsteps in disobedience to God. 12. Tired as in he is sick and tired of bearing our sin. And again, this is the lord complaining about humans disrespecting him, he isn’t actually tired. 13. This discrepancy involves the difference in who was included in each report. In the report in 2 Samuel, the number of men of valor who drew the sword was 800,000, but did not include the standing army of 288,000 described in 1 Chronicles 27:1-15, or the 12,000 specifically attached to Jerusalem described in 2 Chronicles 1:14. Including these figures gives the grand total of 1,100,000 men of valor who composed the entire army of the men of Israel. The figure of 470,000 in 1 Chronicles 21 did not include the 30,000 men of the standing army of Judah mentioned in 2 Samuel 6:1. This is evident from the fact that the Chronicler points out that Joab did not complete the counting of the men of Judah (1 Chron. 21:6). Both calculations are correct according to the groups which were included and excluded from each report. 14. This is undoubtedly a copyist error. Probably an early copyist inadvertently omitted the word “chariot” that we find supplied in some translations. This in turn created a problem for a later copyist who would have recognized that it was not proper Hebrew structure to write “one thousand seven thousand horsemen,” so he would have reduced the second “thousand” to “hundred” resulting in the reading we now have in 2 Samuel 8:4. It is probably the 1 Chronicles passage that retains the correct number. 15. These texts are often used to challenge the inerrancy and authority of the Scriptures. As shown above they pose two problems to the reader: (1) Who owned the land, Araunah or Ornan? (2) How much did David pay him? In response to the first question, there are numerous possibilities. For instance, it is possible that Ornan also went by the name Araunah. Having and being called by more than one name was common in that day as it is today as well. It is also possible that Araunah is a title rather than a proper name. Also, if Araunah wasn’t a Hebrew but rather a Canaanite, when his name was translated into Hebrew this could have resulted in some variation of spelling. Strong’s Lexicon (#728), identifies Araunah as an "orthographical variation" of Ornan. These are each reasonable explanations. So, I don’t observe a discrepancy in the text. As to the second, there’s a lot of difference between 50 shekels of silver (2 Sam. 24:24) and 600 of gold (1 Chron. 21:24-25). Any CPA looking at a ledger would immediately see these differences. However, there is no discrepancy. 1 Chronicles 21:1 states, "Then David said, 'Here shall be the house of the Lord God and here the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'" While the smaller 50 shekels of silver refers to only the threshing floor itself, the 600-gold figure included the land surrounding the threshing floor for "the house of the Lord God" - a rather large piece of property (cf. 2 Chron. 3:3-4). The figure may also have included the land for Solomon’s future palace and numerous other buildings referred to in 1 Kings 7-8 as well. So, once again there is no discrepancy in the text. 16. Chronicles 11 was compiled earlier in David’s career, and 2 Samuel 23 was compiled towards the end of David’s career. The mighty man just beat his record, no contradiction here. 17. The Good Thief reviled Jesus in an earlier part of the crucifixion, but later came around. 18. this isn’t really contradictory, but complimentary. Neither of these verses say that there was only one or two blind men, Matthew just reveals more information that there was two blind men that Jesus healed. 19. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are all written in very different ways. Matthew presents his material topically, not chronologically. Mark is usually very brief or ignores a great amount of information. Luke is the most complete and presents his material in a chronological order. The gospel of John is not as brief as Mark and is less complete than Luke. But like before, these verses are not contradictory, but complementary. None of them openly say that there was only one man/angel or two men/angels, and that they were or weren’t causing an earthquake. 20. Again, not contradictory, but complimentary. 21. God, Infinite and all knowing, creator of all, and uncreated, is the one who gets to pick the punishments for the crime, and you don’t get to morally grandstand with him. God’s standards are perfect, and we unfortunately are not. Thankfully, Christ has paid for our sins. And you know who Christ is? God. 22. If God wants you to have something you will get it. Obviously those who stick with the faith whilst living a poorer life should be rewarded in heaven greater than those born with a silver spoon. And is it really so wrong to share with the poor? (I’m busting your chops I’m well aware that this is a strawman, kind of like your whole schtick on faith and logic) And there’s a difference between riches YOU earned, and riches that God gave you. If you’ve earned something, it’s good to share it with those in need, but if God specifically wants you to have something then you can enjoy it to yourself. 23. I still think that on paper communism is awesome, especially here where it worked. But it is unfortunate that most communist governments crash and burn. Like the great atheist Soviet Union! R.I.P 1922-1991 24. The curtain didn’t rip before OR after Jesus died, it ripped the very moment he died. There isn’t a correct order for Jesus’ death or the ripping of the curtain to be documented, since they happened at the same time. 25. There were two events where Jesus had a fancy robe thrown on him. Notice how in Luke it says that Jesus was sent back to Pilate, but in John and Matthew it is indicated that the robing event took place in the “Praetorium” which is where Pilate was. 26. It’s important to note the different styles of writing Matthew and Mark used while writing their gospels, Mark told his gospel chronologically mostly, and Matthew told his topically mostly. Matthew simply didn’t write this story chronologically, but layer out the details of that day out of order. I must also add that Matthew never explicitly said that Jesus cursed the fig tree on the day following the cleansing of the temple, he only says “in the morning as he returned to the city.” (21:18) 27. It is possible that the prostitutes were foreigners, so the law wouldn’t have applied to them. 28. It is important to note that Luke mentions that the census to which he is referring is the first census taken while Quirinius was governing. This seems to indicate that at the time of writing, the readers would need to distinguish between multiple censuses. Luke specifies that this was the first one. Also, the term used for the ruling of Quirinius in Luke is not specific to a certain position. So, it's quite possible that he held one position at first and then was promoted to the specific position of governor and performed a census then as well. 29. Again, Matthew didn’t always write his gospel in the correct chronological order. 30. Yes, Judas initially died via hanging, but the rope probably broke, or maybe the branch it was hanging off of, and then Judas’ corpse fell from the tree and burst open. 31. No contradiction here! Kinda weird you put it in a video about contradictions in the Bible but okay, maybe you’ve had a change of heart! And I’m happy you have! Welp, I’m done with this now. Honestly I’m glad you made this video, even if you have led millions astray by twisting scripture. It has been such a wonderful exercise of my faith, and now I am a much stronger Christian leaving this project than when I started in November(?) and I thank you.

If you already go to read the bible with the mind to disprove it or criticise it then you will achieve it. The bible requires deep study and even sometimes requires us to go back and see what hebrew or greek words were used because there are flaws in english translation that don't fully bring across concepts or puns that the hebrew or greek do. It must be carefully considered but as I say if you go into it with the mind to already condemn it then you won't go as far.

John 15:12-17 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other” "Love each another". After speaking of love, Jesus deals with the hatred of those who reject the Word of God and who reject his disciples. He foretells that the world will hate and persecute Christians just as it hated and persecuted Himself. The world will be hostile to Jesus and consequently it will also hate those who live in his teaching. Jesus therefore gives another teaching: the tribulations and persecutions to which they will be subject must not frighten them since they, strong in their faith, know that Christ, who has conquered the world, is in them. Jesus' friends are not left alone in persecutions and painful circumstances: they must know that the Defender will be beside them, the Spirit of truth who gave witness to Jesus, will also give it to them. But even the disciples living the very life of Christ will be an uninterrupted witness of his works. In fact, the Spirit, sent by the Father through the Son, will be the "soul" of the Church. Jesus said: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church. A Holy Catholic, Apostolic Church.

SeraphimsAndAngels sorry mate, but the article yourself presented newer contradictions that I myself can find and point out. Too many contradictions are in the bible. For example: GE 1:3-5 On the first day, God created light, then separated light and darkness. GE 1:14-19 The sun (which separates night and day) wasn't created until the fourth day. GE 1:11-12, 26-27 Trees were created before man was created.
GE 2:4-9 Man was created before trees were created. GE 1:20-21, 26-27 Birds were created before man was created.
GE 2:7, 19 Man was created before birds were created. GE 1:24-27 Animals were created before man was created.
GE 2:7, 19 Man was created before animals were created. GE 1:26 Man is to have dominion over fish, birds, cattle, and all wild animals, yet--
GE 2:15-17 It is wrong to be able to tell good from evil, right from wrong. GE 1:26-27 Man and woman were created at the same time.
GE 2:7, 21-22 Man was created first, woman sometime later. GE 1:28 God encourages reproduction.
LE 12:1-8 God requires purification rites following childbirth which, in effect, makes childbirth a sin. (Note: The period for purification following the birth of a daughter is twice that for a son.) GE 1:31 God was pleased with his creation.
GE 6:5-6 God was not pleased with his creation.
(Note: That God should be displeased is inconsistent with the concept of omniscience as well as with the fact that God allegedly does not change his mind: NU 23:19-20, 1SA 15:29, JA 1:17.) GE 2:4, 4:26, 12:8, 22:14-16, 26:25 God was already known as "the Lord" (Jahveh or Jehovah) much earlier than the time of Moses. EX 6:2-3 God was first known as "the Lord" (Jahveh or Jehovah) at the time of the Egyptian Bondage, during the life of Moses. GE 2:17 Adam was to die the very day that he ate the forbidden fruit.
GE 5:5 Adam lived 930 years. GE 2:15-17, 3:4-6 It is wrong to want to be able to tell good from evil.
HE 5:13-14 It is immature to be unable to tell good from evil. GE 4:4-5 God prefers Abel's offering and has no regard for Cain's.
2CH 19:7, AC 10:34, RO 2:11 God shows no partiality. He treats all alike. GE 4:9 God asks Cain where his brother Able is. 1SA 8:2-22 Samuel informs God as to what he has heard from others

EX 20:5, 34:14, DT 4:24, 5:9, 6:15, 29:20, 32:21 God is a jealous god.

2SA 22:7-8 (KJV) "I called to the Lord; ... he heard my voice; ... The earth trembled and quaked, ... because he was angry. Smoke came from his nostrils. Consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it."
EZ 6:12, NA 1:2, 6 God is jealous and furious. He reserves wrath for, and takes revenge on, his enemies. "... who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and rocks are thrown down by him."

GA 5:22-23 The fruit of the Spirit of God is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. GE 4:16 Cain went away (or out) from the presence of the Lord.
JE 23:23-24 A man cannot hide from God. God fills heaven and earth. GE 6:3 The Lord said, "My spirit will not be in man forever, for he is only flesh; so the days of his life will be a hundred and twenty years."
GE 9:29 Noah lived nine hnndred and fifty years. GE 6:4 There were Nephilim (giants) before the Flood.

RO 3:10, 3:23, 1JN 1:8-10No one was or is righteous. GE 7:7 Noah and his clan enter the Ark.
GE 7:13 They enter the Ark (again?). GE 11:7-9 God sows discord.
PR 6:16-19 God hates anyone who sows discord. GE 11:9 At Babel, the Lord confused the language of the whole world.
1CO 14:33 Paul says that God is not the author of confusion. GE 11:12 Arpachshad [Arphaxad] was the father of Shelah.
LK 3:35-36 Cainan was the father of Shelah. Arpachshad was the grandfather of Shelah. GE 11:26 Terah was 70 years old when his son Abram was born.
GE 11:32 Terah was 205 years old when he died (making Abram 135 at the time).
GE 12:4, AC 7:4 Abram was 75 when he left Haran. This was after Terah died. Thus, Terah could have been no more than 145 when he died; or Abram was only 75 years old after he had lived 135 years.

@bobbobb4804 7 ай бұрын
@@zPigg You could’ve looked them up. Personally I just actually read the verses. All this video did was misquote and take the context out of a bunch of verses he copypasted from some atheist website. Jeremiah 17:4 Didn’t say God’s anger towards Judah will last forever. The fire lasts forever and is the consequence, but God’s anger doesn’t last forever. Genesis 22:1 Doesn’t say God tempted Abraham, it says God tested him. You cannot work yourself into heaven, but faith without works is dead, and you’ll find this in James 2:26. Jacob saw God in a dream. Genesis 12 says God “appeared” himself to Abraham, which he does many ways, and he didn’t physically show himself. Exodus 33:11 said Moses spoke to God face to face, not that he saw God face to face, and just right after that verse Exodus 33:23 says “Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”. A human being in the flesh could not be able to look at God’s face with their eyes. Neither Jeremiah 7:22 or Exodus 20:24 say God does or doesn’t delight in burnt offerings. Exodus 20:24 instructs the Israelites to do it, and Jeremiah 7:22 says they temporarily didn’t have to do it while they were fleeing Egypt. That’s not a contradiction. God brought all things into existence, including things that are evil. But God himself is Good. Also 1 John 4:8 seems to be a random verse you put. God created the animals first, and then the Humans. Genesis 2:18-19, starts with God saying man should not be made to be alone, and then God creates the animals. Genesis 1:25-27 talks about God creating the animals, and then finally creating the humans. There is no contradiction. Acts 9:7 says they heard it, but Acts 22:9 says they didn’t understand it. That’s no contradiction. 2 Peter 3:10 says the earth will be burnt, not that it will stop existing. So it doesn’t contradict Ecclesiastes 1:4. John 3:13, and 2 kings 2:11 don’t contradict each other, as Jesus miraculously ascended himself into heaven, but Elijah was taken up to heaven by gust of wind. Isaiah 40:28 says that God doesn’t faint, not that he doesn’t rest. So it doesn’t contradict Isaiah 1:14, and Isaiah 43:24. Deuteronomy 5:9 and Deuteronomy 24:16 don’t contradict each other, because Deuteronomy 5:9 refers to the descendants that kept their behavior. Isaiah 40:28 doesn't say God never rests, it says he never faints. Isaiah 1:14, Isaiah 40:28, and Isaiah 43:24 don't contradict each other. Also Isaiah 1:14 and Isaiah 43:24 don't refer to physical weariness. II Kings 25:8-9 says he came unto Jerusalem, and Jeremiah 52:12-13 says he came into Jerusalem. They don't contradict each other. 2 Samuel 24:9 didn’t talk about the soldiers in the already standing army. While 1 chronicles 21:5 talked about all the men who took up their sword. David took 7000 horsemen. 2 Samuel 8:4 only says 700 in some translations because it's a copyist error in the Masoretic text, but the much older Septuagint and dead sea scrolls have it written as 7000. 1 Chronicles 21:25, 2 Samuel 24:24 don't contradict each other. 1 Chronicles 21:25 says he paid 600 shekels for the floor, and 2 Samuel 24:24 says he paid 50 shekels for oxen. 2 Samuel 23:8 and 1 Chronicles 11:11 don't contradict each other, They are talking about different events. Luke 23:39-42, Mark 15:32, and Matthew 27:44 don't contradict each other. Luke 23:39-42 quotes one of the thieves, but it doesn't say there wasn't a second one. Mark 10:46-52, Matthew 20:30 don't contradict each other. Matthew 20:30 just brings up another person. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John don't contradict each other on the crucifixion of Christ. They told their perspectives, and what they said didn't contradict what the others said. God is just, but he is also merciful. The veil was torn in two after Jesus breathed his last breath. Matthew 27:50-51, Mark 15:37-8, and Luke 23:45-6 don't contradict each other. Luke described the event in more detail, after saying the veil was torn in two, and he wasn't saying the veil was torn before Jesus's death. In Luke 23:11 Herod's soldiers put a gorgeous robe on Jesus, and in John 19:1-2 Pilates soldiers put a purple robe a Jesus. Matthew 27:27-8 also brings up a different robe. These verses bring up different robes that were put on Jesus at different points in time. Matthew and Mark both said the story of the fig tree happened as they were coming to Jerusalem. There was no contradiction. 1 kings 15:11-12 doesn't even bring up homosexuals, and it doesn't contradict Lev 20:13. Luke 2:1 and Matthew 2:1 don’t contradict each other. Luke 2 doesn’t say Jesus was born at the time of the census. Jesus was born in the days that Herod still reigned. Matthew 28:2 and Luke 24:2 don’t contradict each other. Luke 24:2 is just less detailed. Judas tried to give his money back(Matthew 27:5), but it was unlawful to accept it so they bought a field for Judas (Matthew 27:6-7) where he then hung himself. Acts 1:18 describes the aftermath, and what happened to Judas’s body. There is no contradiction.

i spent a few hours to answer all the questions. summary is at the end. 1. how long does God's anger last? answer: that's up to God, if a person repents they are forgiven, if they don't repent they go to hell forever. so his anger is forever and not forever at the same time. it depends on if the person repents. its not contradiction its lack of understanding. 2. does Yahweh tempt people? answer: God doesnt tempt but God allows people to be tempted by satan. 7. was humans created before the animals? answer: Genesis 1 is giving you day by day steps.

My favorite contradiction is the belief of free will for man. That god gave man the ability to choose his fate. However, the bible also says that God created the universe spiritually before physically, that he knows all events before they happen as it is part of his divine plan. So if god knows the outcome of all events and is infallible, then all events must occur as he foresaw and dictated in creation, so man has no real ability to choose as said outcomes must occur in order for God to be omniscient and infallible.

@@DirectorOFun he doesn't have to interfere.. he already knows the outcome of all events before they ever happen. so that's a denial of free will. you don't have the ability to choose if everything you do has already been written before the opportunity arises TO choose. Like for example.. say there's an omnicient being.. and he knows that in an hour someone is going to offer you a choice between a pen and a pencil. He knows that you're going to choose the pencil. He is never wrong. You' MUST choose the pencil over the pen. If you don't.. then that means he is not omniscient and he is fallible. You also do not have the ability to NOT be at the correct place and time to be offered the "choice" between the pen and pencil.. that also means that the person who gives you that "choice" MUST be there at that exact time and place and MUST have both of those items in order for that "choice" to be made... every single action from from every single being, every single atom in existence, must perform, from the time of creation, in a precise way without deviation to lead up to that one singular event of you being given a "choice" between those two items. If any of it is wrong.. if any of it changes... that event cannot happen and therefore there is no omniscient being. So either there is free will... or there is god. Both cannot exist.

I know it's easy to hate, it easy to watch these videos and hate on Christians seeing them as idiots, short-sighted, narrow-minded, but that life is all they have lived in. And then go dunk on them in the comments. Tbh I am exactly the same, I've only lived as an atheist so I'm really just as ignorant. I think I am lucky to be on the side I believe is right, but we have to acknowledge that if we were born on the opposite side, we probably would've been a theist too. It's easy to think otherwise, but the evidence supports this. Please don't be hostile. If we want to be the better people we need to act like it, and instead of showing the hate that Christians have historically shown non-believers and believers of other religions, we should listen, understand, and respectfully disagree instead of insult.

As with most “contradictions” the Atheist thinks they find in the Bible, these are all solved easily by understanding the basic context of the verses. For example, in the first selection of verses from Jeremiah and Micah, the subjects of God’s anger are two different groups of people. Those to whom God’s anger burns forever are those who live in wickedness and refuse to repent. Those to whom God’s anger is temporary are those who repent to turn towards Him. Remember, a proof text without a context is a recipe for a pretext.

This is how I became atheist, by reading the bible. We used to do this thing called bible bowl which was a ginuinely fun competition for memorizing the bible. The firat time I did one was for the book of revelation and that was wacky and fun, but the second time was for genesis and that's where the cracks started to show through. At that time I was a hardcore Christian fundamentalist like my parents, but I was also a scientist, as in I followed the scientific process, but genesis gave me nothing to go on. As the god given account of creation, it sure sounded like god was making it up as he went, and the more facts I memorized the more I realized that they contriductet later points in the bible. It just snowballed from there, especially once I realized that you need actual evidence to know that something is real for sure, and the bible is dissproven by most of the evidence we have.

@@GodlessCommie Almost every single example he gives is not at all a contradiction except on cherry picked face value, and the video seems to either be ignorant of, or intentionally ignoring genre, historical context, translation decisions and just overall effective reading skills. If you want me to, I'll be happy to go verse by verse in the video and demonstrate this. No one in their right mind thinks a fair way to read any book is to pull out single sentences devoid of context and pit them against one another. Yet that is exactly what he is doing with the Bible. There is also a hefty dose of chronological snobbery in this video and this comment section, as if this is the first time someone has ever critically looked at the Bible, when intellectually honest men and women have been reading the Bible for 2000 years, and most of them spent more time reading, studying, and thinking about JUST the Bible than any us will spend reading in general in our life times. Maybe, just maybe, it's a bit arrogant to assume that men like Aquinas and Augustine were just intellectual frauds who ignored 100's of "contradictions" in the Bible. So yeah, it's an extremely bad faith video. There are plenty of compelling arguments and debates we can have for/against Christianity. so this may come across confusing but when sin is talked about in the old testament and when sin is talked about in the new testament are two very different things. You see in the old testament the was no holy spirit and there was no savor thus when someone sinned it was a much bigger thing, it was a crime against the Lord's nation thus they(the people of the God) would judge the crime how every other crime was judged back then, very harshly. In the new testament, however, when "death" is brought up as a result of sin it is referring to spiritual death which, if you haven't excepted the Lord's forgiveness will send you to hell... Another thing to realize is that if a sin from the old testament isn't re-stated in the new it isn't a sin anymore and has been forgiven by the death of Jesus (like cutting your hair, eating pig, braiding your hair etc.)... TL; DR no, Christians are not being told to go out in the street and kill sinners...lmao hope this clears this up :D

@@pedrocarreiras4497 I believe Tyler is saying that you can believe in a god (aka be theist) but not necessarily be tied to a strict dogma/religious denomination/set of beliefs. So basically you could be a spiritual person in general and not identify with a particular religion.

Its crazy how many of these replies are trying to explain half of the points here and straight up just ignoring the ones that are simply blatantly false and going "Welp I explained like 4 of the points here poorly, time to end my comment with 'context matters' because I cant explain the numerical inconsistencies"

Every time he gives another example, it solidifies the joke that much further, and the reality that these old books are full of contradictions and shouldn't be taken seriously. If it was just one or two contradictions, that might be acceptable. The fact that there are this many, is important to show.

Shows you've really read nothing from ancient theologians, these questions had been handled by torah and the Christian church fathers millenia ago. Most of these supposed "contradictions," when they are actually contradictions at all, were never an issue for believers until protestants tried to remake the Bible into a scientific document, which it never was, and tried to base the veracity of the text on various dry and absurd systematic theological schemes, 1:1 consistent word association games, historical/archeological arguments etc. instead of the simple power of the gospel itself to show people the beauty of what they were created for After leaving atheism in my early 20's coming back to these kinds of videos simply baffle me as to how I was ever so blind as to take them seriously. It shows me that when I originally deconstructed from Christianity in my teens that I never truly knew Christ to begin with

@papercut7141
@papercut7141 2 жыл бұрын
@@forloop7713 why should I bother? The concept of most of these being "contradictions" that matter in any way isn't even a theological premise that I hold. Like a lot are as pedantic as numbers of soldiers or something, as if the message of scripture is based on that. This all stems from the concept of scripture as some kind of systematic philosophical treatise that has to be able to be run through a logical function or syllogism and come out with zero errors to be valid. Even thinking about the faith in that way is so removed from the gospel and fathers that it's pointless to even debate. Words can be used differently in different contexts, things that seem to contradict logically are often the product of people using limited language to describe something infinite and incomprehensible. This is why the Orthodox understand the place of paradox in Christian teaching as a necessary facet of the work that challenges our minds to enter deeper into the mystery created by it, as the deepest "contradiction" of all is the heart of all Christian knowledge, the chief mystery, that God became man, so that man could become God (St Athanasius), through the crucifixion of Christ, the King who is Servant of all, who finds life through death. As he asks us to "lose our lives, so we may find it" So instead of engaging you in this petty game you want to play, why don't you give me a supposed contradiction and tell me why I should care about it at all? About what relevance it has to the revelation of the infinite God, the ground of all being, which is love, incarnating as man his Son to show us the path of love, mercy, and forgiveness, this grand "contradiction" that I've already found my life in? Show me how any of your petty word games could upstage that and maybe we'll have a conversation worth having

@FoxsoFunso

@@morganfreeman1906 Ah yes. Debunking the contractions in the Bible by interpreting the Bible differently. If you twist something enough it'll have any meaning imaginable. Sometimes it's best to take words at face value because making up a hidden meaning to fit your beliefs is just another way of practicing ignorance. That's the problem with the debunking video's logics.

@@FoxsoFunso The amount of projection in your reply is off the charts. There are no contradictions in the Bible. Not a single one. Every excuse you made is in fact something the video's author does, but you flip it around as a coping mechanism because it's your agenda to make the Bible appear invalid.

@@morganfreeman1906 Know what? There are plenty of things that break my immersion when reading a Bible, but, I suppose I can chalk it up to a personal problem and move on. As fun as cross referencing bibles is... I suppose the only Bible that matters for your argument is THE Bible. Have you read the original Bible or are you just as unreliable as a source as I am? I have never been good at learning new languages despite my effort... Too bad the Bible isn't perfectly understandable. A consequence of the tower of babble and a skill issue on my part.

@@FoxsoFunso lol what desperate deflection. The topic is "contradictions" in the Bible. There are none. And Josepheus mentions Jesus by name. That is "cross reference" If the New Testament was a work of fiction then he would never have known about Jesus.
