What's the deal with piano sizes? We hear a lot of names referring to the size of grand pianos: baby grand, parlor grand, medium grand, concert grand, etc., are all names we hear all the time. Daniel Barenboim has produced a modern straight strung grand. A noticeable difference in bass string resonance as compared to regular grands.

This was very interesting and very educational. I thought it was all about string length. Now I know.

For some reason, I felt like the Baldwin had some tuning or voicing inconsistencies in the mid-range. Could just be my speakers, but I expected a much more pleasant tone there. I will say Kawai packs quite a bit into a small space there, but I wouldn't expect the same resonance at that size, so typically it wouldn't be a fair comparison.
