📣 Learn more about our 21-Day Yoga Challenge - www.yogachallenge.in/syt 🧘🏼‍♀️ There was a time I felt like a victim of my emotions. My emotions took me through a roller coaster ride through the day, week, month and year and I was totally overwhelmed 😔
Until I found Yoga. After just 1 month of regular asana and pranayama practice, I saw immense changes in my mood. 😃
I started to feel more balanced, my emotional triggers as well as reactions reduced and I started to feel joyful in general. 😇
And that’s when I started studying the science behind it. Pranayama practice allows for the left and right hemispheres to function in tandem, hence reducing mental conflict and the constant tug of war between the 2 sides of our personalities - the mind and the heart! 🧠♥️
When we feel very strong emotions, our breathing often becomes fast and shallow, as if our inner turmoil is reflected in how we breathe. This link between our feelings and how we breathe is not accidental; it’s rooted in our automatic nervous system 🌬️
Stress and fear activate the “fight or flight” response, making us breathe quickly and shallowly. In contrast, calm and serene emotions activate the parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging slow and deep breathing 🍃
A regular practice also detoxifies the body, making our blood and internal organs clean, thereby helping us feel light and clutter free in general 😎

True, I had suffered from anxiety for years. Nothing helped art , nature,music distracting mind, job , nothing. Only pranayama saved me.

I'm suffering from anxiety for the past few years. I'm taking xanax and l want to stop this medication. Did you get better by just doing pranayam? Were you also taking medication for anxiety? My blood pressure is also high because of it and I'm taking meds for that too. I want to get better . Please reply if you have time.

I love the positive energy and yoga teachings you spread with your channel! However, to those of you who are struggling with mood swings and other psychiatric symptoms: please consider getting professional help if you realize your mood swings are damaging your well-being and overall quality of life. Though pranayama and other yoga practices are most definitely HELPFUL to calm you down, these are not enough on their own to TREAT serious mental illness. Stay well, everyone.
