Answering the thumbnail, people were pissed with women in BFV, because in the marketing for the game, EA always said how much of an "accurate ww2" game it was. But when the infamous trailer having a woman fighting in the British army with a bionic arm hit, and in the cover of the game the person there is a female people became angry. When you say that a game will be an accurate depiction of a real-life event the bare minimum is to accurately represent the people that fought on these battlefields and the weaponry they used. However BFV threw that from the window, and to make matters worse shamed their players telling them that they didn't know the true history, but it doesn't take a genius to know that females were the minority of the minority on the frontlines, and them being so prominent in the game takes all believability of the setting away. Not only that but is disrespectful towards the people that actually went to the war, cause if you make a game trying to "accurately" show how it was, and them the game that is supposed to honor that scenario is twisted and tried to be sold as this inclusive war that a lot of women died fighting in the frontlines, is disrespectful because is a clear attempt at rewriting history. It wouldn't be an issue if EA just said: "Well this is our own take at WW2, we will try to make the experience as inclusive and fun for as many people as we can while trying to not take the feeling of ww2 away." They would be fine if they did that, a lot of people would play, some people would take issue with that, but for the most part, no one would care enough to cancel it as it happened. If we want to learn something from this, do not lie to your fanbase, just be upfront and honest, if you want to do a weird take on WW2 do it, feel free to experiment on it, but don't try to sell your own version of ww2 as the true thing, cause it will make an entire segment of people angry AF.

The decision to remove player emblems from the post-battle screen in BF1 was, and will always be, a tragedy. Nothing like finishing a match and seeing something horrifically cursed and just laugh at its appearance. Of course, you open up the possibility for offensive content, but people will always try and be offensive through any means of communication, and humour tends to be more fun when it's more upsetting, though yelling slurs is just obnoxious.
