I just noticed a pattern. During his in-depth look at the utterly Irresponsible Spider-Man, the video did not conk out at all. Yet the moment the video reaches the portion about marriage, ie one of the things this comic is trying to erase, it finally does conk out. The comic is indeed so bad that it forced the speakers to be faulty.

The bullshit about nobody in the WHOLE Marvel Universe being able to help Aunt May is incredible. How about: Doc Strange: "I sense a weird dark power shielding May from my powers. I can't interfere." Later it's revealed that Mephisto is responsible for nobody being able to help May so he could make his offer to Peter. There. I needed about 10 seconds to come up with this. Sure I don't know much about Doctor Strange OR Mephisto and if this would actually work, but it sure as hell sounds more believable than the most powerful magic-user on earth not being able to magic the bullet out of May's body and magically heal her wound. Or how about doing that time-space distortion thing so he can treat may surgically without having to worry about her succumbing to the wound before he can finish?

They quit on their marriage and even more tragic, (they) quit on each other. Instead, we had them make a deal with the devil. 'Cause that isn't as bad'. Peter and MJ didn't quit on their love, they sacrificed it to save a life, that to me is a pretty heroic story." - Joe Quesada I haven't read One More Day and I never will, but this quote pisses me off so much at Quesada! First off, Peter and MJ did give up on their marriage! They did quit on their love for each other! And while they did sacrifice their love to save a life, they did so after that said-person told Peter to let her go and be happy! And how is selling your marriage off to the devil better than divorce or separation?! In fact, why do you want Peter and MJ to be separated from each other?! I don't like to be that person who rants in uncontrollable anger, but this is an exception I need to take: FUCK YOU, QUESADA!!! Everything you just said in that quote makes no sense, what-so-ever! What Peter and MJ did was not heroic! They refused to listen to a dying old woman who wants them to let her go! All of this is nothing more than to separate Peter and MJ without the need of divorce or separation, because it would make the character feel old. Well, newsflash, Quesada! Spider-Man has been around for over 50 years (almost 50 around the time of this comic)! In fact, a story focusing on a divorce/separation would have been heartbreaking and sad! It would have been a bittersweet way to end what has been going on for years by that point! Maybe Peter was given a choice to either quit being Spider-Man or lose the woman he loves, creating a conflict that is worth reading about. Say he gives up being Spider-Man, going on the run with Aunt May and MJ, but later dons the suit to save lives in another event. When MJ finds out, she confronts him about it and begs him to leave the life of Spider-Man behind, believing it has destroyed enough already. But when that same event gets worse, Peter leaves to help, but when he returns, he finds MJ gone and a note left for him, her final farewell. MJ returns to society, declaring herself no longer to be married to Peter Parker. Now that would have been a much fitting way to end the marriage, not this. Nothing that Quesada says makes any damn sense in this stupid story! He says that Aunt May can't be healed from a simple gunshot wound! He says that no one can help her! He says that the only way to undo everyone knowing about Spider-Man identity is to give up the marriage to a demon! He says that the only way to put an end to Peter and MJ's marriage without making them become older is to give it up to a demon! I can easily come up with an idea that would do all of those without the need of a demon being involved: Time-travel! Yes, it's been a million times before, but I can see it working here. Just change the event when MJ says yes to Peter's proposal, change the event when Peter joins Iron Man's side and just goes on the run to avoid joining the war or just decided not to reveal his identity when he did join Iron Man. Or even when Aunt May got shoot. Seriously, Quesada, you are the most dumbest, idiotic, dumbass of all time!

What always throws me hard about this is that virtually all comic creator-types who speak about this in interviews were lined up lock step against this marriage. Most hated OMD itself, but felt there were all these stories that just couldn't be told otherwise. Well guys, your blind unanimity of opinion gave cover to JQ to write this story. You all wanted MJ gone, to hear it told, since the Clone Saga. Well, Stan has stated he couldn't get rid of her, so deal with it, knowing she will return.

Man, no wonder One more day not only enraged Marvel nor Comic book fans, but almost ruined Spider Man's reputation. and he's basically my favorite Superhero and Childhood Icon eversince I first discovered Comics, and I was born in 2002 for crying out loud! Well, look at the bright side we can agree on, things are better left unsaid, so that we can move on, So Marvel thankfully ignored this event Comic for one good reason for the greater better, And they deserved better that this Storyline would be forgotten. Even after years later, no one will ever lay their hands on this Storyline ever again.

Wow, this comic was bad. Linkara's right that it's full of pointless meandering. Even the parts of the comic that actually deal with the plot are illogical. Are we supposed to assume that Mephisto is responsible for the visions of May Parker and the other Peters? If so, WHY? The visions are showing Peter why he SHOULDN'T make the deal. This is apparently one of the few universes where Peter has gotten together with the love of his life. The visions of the others let him see how hollow and cynical he becomes WITHOUT MJ. Why would Mephisto show him that just before asking him to sacrifice his marriage? Wouldn't it be better to have Peter meet a few versions of himself who are happy even though they never met MJ? Wouldn't that make the deal seem like less of a sacrifice and make it easier for Peter to say yes? I know Mephisto said there were relatively few timelines where Peter was happy, but shouldn't there be a reality or two where he ended up with Black Cat or someone?
