Welcome to our channel! We’re excited to get into this with you guys and share some of our journey and knowledge of custom Offgrid Power Solutions.
In this video, we're converting the Mercedes Firetruck Overlander to super single wheels from the stock wheels that it comes with. We landed up going for a set of Mitas tyres. We're pleased with how it turned out. It looks good. We'll need to modify the wheel arches slightly, but on the whole, it's looking good. We're keen to make some process on building out this overlander camper!

Tires look good on your truck. Are your brakes all drum brakes for front & rear?

We're pretty happy with them. The truck has air brakes all round.

Nice, I imported to the states a 1995 Mercedes 1224AF firetruck to also convert to a Overland vehicle. So far I've just replaced belts, alternator and starter. Next step is removing the rear. Curious where you got your super single rims from?

I got my super singles from Atkinson Vos here in the UK. They're one of the leading Unimog specialists in Europe. Very pleased with the rims they provided.

What are the tire specs? Price each tire? I would think those are a lot more expensive than the 22.5 inch construction tires?

The tyres are 365/80R20. they cost about £600 a piece.

Just a suggestion, stick with dually. You’re asking for a new rim in the event of a blowout. Ask any owner operator who spends their own dime on their truck. You ain’t gonna listen cuz you already bought it. Bless your heart.

The super singles perform much better in most scenarios (apart from a blowout), especially when you're offroad. Given that we'll be carrying much less then the GMW of the vehicle, the super singles will be best for this application.
