"Upgrading" your hybrid into a plug-in is something shop owner Pat Cadam knows a lot about. He explains how EVs are converted to plug-ins at his shop and why he uses A123 Hymotion technology.

I just bought my Prius. yes, it seems to piss other drivers off, as people say, and I'm not supposed to use my heat and AC, cruise eats mileage too, have to put all my concentration into the special way to drive and not lose focus for a second, which pisses ME off. lol. If I just relax and drive it like a non hybrid, I dont know if Id get over 35 mpg. my old Escort gets that no matter how I drive, 80 mph with AC on and I'm totally relaxed driving it. Paid $500 for the Escort with new tires! $5500 for the Prius that I can't figure out how to really relax in (yet)!

romansten9 if you cant get over 35mpg in a prius regardless of how you drive then you have problem. Your low should be 40mpg high in the upper 40s to 50s.

1. 13 miles? Where did this figure come from? The guy said you can double your driving range. Aggressive drivers get around 60 miles, less aggressive about 100 miles. I'm a lazy guy, but even I can run an extension cord from my garage to my car. 2. Why make it difficult? Get home from work, plug it in. My car sits for 11 hours. Not having to stop at a gas station (which is always packed) where I live is worth the few extra cents it would cost to charge daily. doh, out of characters!

If this is over 11yrs old then he would be glad to know its not very far out of date lol. as far as battery tech on the market today it's pretty much the same. I don't think that will be true in the next 5yrs though.
