I could sit and listen to Conway all day, every day! These so-called country singers today have NOTHING on Conway and some of the others of his time. Most of the country people today aren't even country, yet radio and the industry accept them as such. I have Sirius radio so I can listen to the good old country from the 60's through the 80's. Shame on the industry for snubbing Conway all those years!!! So glad to hear it really didn't bother him. He deserved EVERY award they had at the time. I wonder how the idiots felt about doing this to him once he passed away?

I didn't know that, but it IS a damn shame!! Yes, it is. All those #1s, all that talent, all those fans. Shame on them forever! It brings to mind Johnny Cash's studio dropping HIM after HE built that damn record company! I can't remember which one it was but for Johnny Cash to NOT have a label?! Those bean counters have no loyalty, no integrity. Anyway, RIP, Conway. Job well done.

I'm glad I got the chance to see Conway Twitty in concert at Lanier Land in GA. back in the late 80's. He did a beautiful job singing that night. I got to see Loretta Lynn in concert also in Hiawassee Tennessee in the early 80's. I would have loved it if I could have seen Conway & Loretta together, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Thank you for sharing this documentary about Conway.

I grew up hearing Conway on the radio every day! Conway has always been my favorite entertainer EVER! He is absolutely the VERY BEST! Love Conway. There has never been anyone better.

Conway Twitty(Harold Jenkins) was a very talented man. Singer and song writer. He tried to give other musician songs that would give them #1 hits. He should have been recognized for more and wasn't. Loretta lynn was stripped of things as well. Country music, revenue was great when Conway was singing .

Dee turned vicious after Conway's death and destroyed his legacy. She was not in his will... something that Conway must have forgotten which cost him dearly. Dee destroyed the man we all love and never cared about his fans.
@wyvonnawilson53304 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think Dee went after him and probably caused the trouble between Mickey and Conway that made them divorce. It is sad to think this but I believe it's true and she knew it. It is sad that he fell for her manipulating tricks and the stress of it all had to have been hard on Conway and his health. She went after him , hook line and sinker. And look at the results. When you truly love someone, you don't go and try to destroy their family and that's what that evil bitch did, because all she really wanted was his money. Forgive me Lord Jesus, but I hope Karma gets hold of her.

I always loved Conway through all of his entertaining years. He always had a song about me or my life that fit at the time. Why he was snubbed by CMA and Grand Ole Opry - who knows. They have snubbed Gene Watson also and many others. Today they let the rock people in but snub anybody who is true "country". You have to search to find music and try to buy it cause you can't enjoy radio.

Thanks-a-million for this post. I wasn't into C&W until after Conway passed. Looking back on stars from the 60's to present, I have come to believe he may have been the greatest of all. So sad he died at such a young age. This documentary filled in some blanks for me. I'm curious about two things, though: 1. Why did CMA snub him on individual awards? 2. Why was he never made a member of Grand Ole Opry? Almost as if he rubbed someone the wrong way....

I noticed the calls that they are albums. They were Conways albums. She also refers herself to a very normal person. She was in the business with him because she was hired to be a secretary and then they started dating and got married later on, doesn’t mean their albums.😊

He was not willing to cancel shows if the Opry called, or answered at their beckoned call, so they never showed him the respect and accolades he deserved. Shame on thevOpry.
