A lot of people don’t realize that most of the wild weeds are edible, and have a lot of nutrients. They are especially needed for our nutrition in the season they are growing.

Very true, many are edible, but also must be careful because some are poisonous.

Just made this recipe with a few modifications. Got my Purslane and chicken thighs from local farmers market. I add Za’atar seasoning along with salt and pepper to chicken. I decided to sauté my two garlic cloves, sliced along with the peppers. Also I added a dash of oregano and paprika to stew. Served with crumbled feta cheese and buttered toasted sour dough bread.

Best way to cook purslane is simply to boil it not long, chop it, add salt, crushed garlic, oil and eat it like a salad. Some like to add vinegar or lemon juice too. You can keep it cooked even a couple of weeks in your fridge! Goes well with fried meat, chicken, potatoes. Very nice and healthy! Good for the stomach, improves digestion and many vitamins in it. 🇬🇪🕯️❤️ Georgia, Tbilisi

Purslane also has Omega 3's, I read. You also gave me an idea - to put a slow cooker on the porch and plug it into the outside outlet. Living in a desert area, I find heat builds up in the house even with air conditioning (without which I couldn't bear to live here). So I'm loathe to heat my house up any worse or faster by cooking indoors much, lest the house be too hot to sleep at bedtime. But a slow cooker on the porch.... or the propane stove for the practice, that makes sense too! Cooking outside in summer is perfectly feasible (and I think would be more nutritious than endless smoothies).

The easiest and best salad of purslane: just boil, chop, add salt, crushed garlic and oil to your taste. Some add vinegar (or lemon juice). Pretty good with fried meat, chicken, potatoes as salad! I got it from my grandmother and love it. One more recipe from far away. 🕯️🇬🇪 Tbilisi, Georgia ❤

I like to brown diced pork. I remove it from the pan and sautee diced onions, tomatoes and garlic in the same pan with the fat left from the pork. Then I add a little chicken stock the purslane and a little water and tomato sauce. Stir and add the pork. I'll simmer on low until everything is cooked and tender.

Please don’t pull your purslane out by the roots! Cut it so it’ll come back year after year. If you pull it before it has a chance to drop any seeds, you’ll deplete your purslane crop for next year!

Made this just awhile ago. Only had a very small onion so I added onion powder when cooking. Also had ground chicken and not pieces so I made meatballs. Also didn’t have much liquid so I added a can of broth. But turned out delicious. My picky husband looked at it and said ewe. But after I had him taste it he was pleasantly surprised and had a bowl.
