Happy New Year and welcome to my vintage cookbook KZfaq channel!
In this video, I share my latest vintage cookbook haul, courtesy of my friends and family. Please leave your vintage cookbook love in the comments!
I'm so happy to share my love of mid century cooking and old recipe books with others. I'll be cooking vintage recipes, sharing cookbook reviews, and even showing off my latest vintage cookbook hauls every now and again. I'm cooking through history and you're invited!

Betty Crocker coupons were on box tops and packages of General Mills products: cereals, cake mixes, Bisquick, instant potato boxes etc. They enabled one to enjoy discounts on items in the catalog. I began savinh them in high school and saved enough to buy a lovely Oneida stainless flatware set, baby spoons, a toddler flatware set, several cookbooks and many other nice items I saved in my hope chest. I still have the flatware and many cookbooks over 50 years later. It was fun to shop the catalog, make my "wish list" and receive my choices in the mail. When my kids were in elementary school, their schools collected the coupons to use for benefit of the students.

I think a cookbook haul was maybe the second video of yours that saw, and as soon as I did I knew I was hooked on your channel. These are all so great to see. The wonderful array of art and design and photography, the absolutely mental recipes- what was it? a tweener dunk? Really? And the deeply odd ways some companies try to shoehorn their products into recipes is just a joy to see all by itself. Beautiful haul my friend! You're so lucky so many people support you with such excellent gifts! Looking forward to everything you get to make from these!

My Mom saved up Blue Chip Stamps and got an Oster Deluxe Blender in the '60's that I still use today. I've only had to replace the seal once.

My great aunt gave me a large set of flat wear as a wedding gift in 1970 , which she saved Betty Crocker coupons for. I still have most of the set. I can't imagine how long she saved for the set. I'm sure it was not cheep. I love the narratives you give on all the cookbooks. Keep up the good work.

Back in 1977 I sent away with my Betty Crocker points for a 3 piece small child stainless steel silverware , It is excellent quality, I still have it. I also bought a baby spoon.

OMG a few of those my Grandma definitely had!! And that better crocker catalog too! OH I definitely remember S$H Greenstamps...My grandma was a voracious collector!! You got some really neat ones!! OMG I can't believe you drove to OHIO!!! I did that drive once, and never again..Hahaha. Although it is nice to see the sights along the way. Glad you got to visit your Family!! And yes..that little Bran cookbooklet, looked from the 1970s for sure!

The drive to Ohio is quite a haul. 😆 We've driven between Ohio and California a few times now, seems like we're getting to be experts at it! Seriously though, I'm hoping we don't do it again for quite some time.

Those Culinary Arts Institute cookbooks used to be sold at grocery stores when I was a kid in the early 70s.We had the cake and cookies ones.The Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedic Cookbook is those small cookbooks compiled into one, except for the International books.I don't know if those were ever made into one book or not,though.I do have the Italian cookbook in that series that was my grandmother's on my mom's side.

I love cookbooks!!!! I currently live in our motorhome and travel thru this country. I currently collect the smaller booklets (30's thru early 70's) and Betty crocker books especially the late 50's ones (the smaller ones like the bbq one you just got!)

It’s so, so cute. Betty Crocker cookbooks from this time period are just A+. I’ve heard from people who have had family members make fun of them (in a mean way) for starting a YT channel. It’s sad! Putting yourself out there and filming/uploading videos can be difficult, even more so if you don’t feel supported.

I was so surprised (and very excited!) when she offered to let me look through her books. Best possible Christmas present. I've tried to keep my collection under control, but at this rate I'm afraid you may be right about needing a room for it someday. 😆

I think they had points on the Betty Crocker spoon on packages you cut off and save What a great haul! I just bought a better homes and garden cookbook 1949 . And I found a Betty Crocker recipe case , not sure the year. It’s an orange plastic case

That would make sense! I'd love to have some of the items from the catalog today. Oh I love BH&G cookbooks! What a great find. I wonder if the case is from the 1971 Betty Crocker Recipe Card Library? Is it solid orange, or more 2 toned like my green case?

I love cottage cheese also. I don't know many people that do. Recipes would be good. Teeners special dunk.......well maybe not. 🤔

I've liked cottage cheese since I was a kid. My mom would serve it with pineapple, and I still eat it that way most often now. Teeners Special Dunk is...well it doesn't sound like my favorite application for cottage cheese. 😂
