Video Chapters:
0:00 Introduction
0:20 Making the seasoning
1:12 Frying the beef
1:48 Adding the ingredients to the beef
3:03 Adding the cheese
3:32 Plating and garnish
3:52 Conclusion
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon corn starch
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon oil for frying
1 pound (1/2 kilo) lean ground beef
1 1⁄2 cup uncooked macaroni noodles
1 cup water
2 cups milk
3 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish
1 cup grated old sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Additional Notes:
Feel free to choose your favorite pasta shape for this recipe. Elbow macaroni works great, but you can experiment with other shapes like rotini, shells, or even penne.
If you prefer a vegetarian version, you can easily substitute the ground beef with plant-based ground meat or crumbled tofu. The flavors will still be fantastic!
Don't hesitate to add extra vegetables to amp up the nutritional value. Diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach are excellent options that will add flavor and texture to the dish.
For a spicier twist, you can incorporate some chili powder, paprika, or cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix. Adjust the amount according to your preference for heat.
If you're watching your sodium intake, consider using low-sodium broth and seasoning ingredients. You can always adjust the salt level at the end to suit your taste.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of water or broth to restore the creaminess.
Feel free to get creative with toppings! Sprinkle some shredded cheese, chopped fresh herbs like parsley or basil, or a dollop of sour cream on top of your homemade Hamburger Helper for an extra flavor boost.
Remember, this homemade version allows you to control the ingredients and customize it to your liking. Feel free to experiment and make it your own!
Enjoy the process of making this DIY Hamburger Helper and savor the delicious results. Share your recreations with us in the comments below, and don't forget to tag us on social media. Happy cooking!

I’ve never understood why anyone would buy the boxed stuff, when it’s so easy to make from scratch. Of course, it’s all about the seasoning - my mother used to use homemade spaghetti sauce, but your seasonings sound so much better. The other thing I love about your recipes, I don’t have to run to the store for anything - I have everything you used, which makes it so much easier! You forgot just one thing - a hunk of fresh, buttered baguette to sop up the sauce! 😂

You don’t need a dedicated “breaker-upper thingy”; a wavy wire potato masher works just as well if not better.

My favorite Hamburger Helper was always the cheeseburger Hamburger Helper. I think I still like it to this day, though I've not had it in a while. Of course second on the list was the stroganoff. That one was so delicious as well. Could have salad with it and you got a meal.

Yeah, I remember that. It was so good. Both of them. Memories. Love the idea of a salad too. Nice dinner roll on the side. Yum.

Dave , ery nice recipe & looks delicious , yes much better than the box product , & yes on us & the girls will say yes because my wife makes almost the exact same recipe, & with velveeta cheese. sometimes she adds a can of diced tomatoes & it is good. I wouldn't change a thing on this recipe , & btw we do keep 1 or 2 of the box products in the pantry if we are in a pinch for time. We like small curd whole cottage cheese in a small bowl as a side with fresh cracked black pepper on it. keep your stick on the ice pal

Hey Steve. Thanks my friend. It was so good and simple. Love the idea of Velvetta cheese. It's really expensive here. What about there? Great idea about keeping it in the pantry. Same here. Great idea for a side dish too. Thanks so much for the great tips, Steve. See you at the next meeting. HONK HONK. Whatever that means. LOL.

@TheCooknShare lol on the honk honk, Dave , velveeta here is $ 5.99 for a 2 pound block in a a box , I don't think that's to bad, glad you liked the sides, see you at the lodge pal
