You don't sound over dramatic... You have, as always, said what we were all thinking, put so eloquently, passionately and calmly I thankyou for sharing your thoughts on all this... This is our time to stand up against those big corporations and governments. profit before planet, should never be a thing. I thank you for sharing with us your thoughts about all of this and the cop26. i felt it has been such a waste, they had a massive opportunity to make some meaningful gestures. but choose money/greed over life.

The thing is Chris, I honestly was not disappointed because I knew that nothing was going to change. These peoples minds cannot be changed, as proven by their actions so far. The only way to make any kind of headway is by creating some kind of new system to get round what is in place already.

Agree. We can never overcome the entrenched lobbyists, bankers, mega-corporations that operate worldwide. It is a waste of time and energy to try to bend them to our will. Put that energy into creating better methods, fuels, etc. I am no organizer, but trying to create much more active interest in conservation, innovation and research into new methods and systems might help. Also, it would be helpful to counter the super/hyper consumerism that is running rampant in wealthy nations...such as my own! In the end, I am not hopeful, but we are all we have and it's worth trying.

Nope we are already under water. I went to school in Stickney and was told in 1993 that in 25 years we would be flooded. I still live in the area and despite the prophets dire predictions the fen continues to shrink due to the fact we have one of the best drainage systems in the world. In the Spalding area the fen has shrunk over 6' since the 1950's. I have a great deal of caution over what Chris has to say as he has questionable motivations, ignoring important issues (such as insect decline due to farming) to raise funds for his own personal animosities. He seems to tailor his views to self promotion and harvesting charitable donations whilst not doing what really needs to be done. Listen to what he says about burning peat, it's only done when the winter rains are soaking the peat so it cannot burn, they burn to prevent it catching fire when the peat is dry. He is a manipulative liar.

It’s not over dramatic at all Chris. Everything you have said is scarcely accurate. I’ve listen to some of the representatives from places the Maldives and other small Island nations outline the effects they are already seeing, and they have been betrayed, betrayed by the rich nations who continue with their insatiable greed and blatant disregard for the impact their lack of action is already influencing. It is truly soul destroying and you are right, we HAVE to find another way, somehow. I have children and grandchildren and it scares me on a daily basis now thinking about the future we are assigning them to. COP26 was a cop out. All we can do is try and find another way.

As with so many things in life these days, it comes down to us as individuals to make the change, because our 'leaders' are lost. The will is growing amongst the public, to make the right choices for the earth. The tide will turn, and consumer demand for renewables will surely consign fossil fuels to the dustbin. Let's hope it not too late. Thanks Chris, for all that you do

This is what will give us a future on this planet.

Dear Chis, you are the voice of a large proportion of the population, but I ask you how, how do we make our government and those of countries around the world change. I recently wrote to my MP and have been left feeling the same way you feel. My MP answers via a assistant who is there just to field off any difficult questions. I am seeing areas of local wildlife habitat being destroyed with public funds and nobody seems to understand that if we can't protect the small areas we have no hope of protecting the planet as a whole. During my lifetime I have seen democracy being eroded in the UK and it seems to be accelerating. We desperately need good people like your good self to step forward to force change, I do fear that it may become bloody but that may be the less of both evils. I too hope that we will see a day when those who knowingly ignored the evidence are brought before the courts of law and are convicted of their evils. Lead and we will follow.

So eloquently put Chris. Such an opportunity for change, that sadly was not taken full advantage of. We all need to make changes to our lives, some small and some really big, conscious changes too.... our mindsets need to be reset and think about our needs, not our wants. Let's all get out there and connect with our natural world, build respect for it and save it, for if we don't .....

OK, so there's this Disney film - Tomorrowland (bear with me). Nearing the end of this film the main protagonist Governor Nix - played by Hugh Laurie, gives a speech about humanity swallowing up the natural apocalypse with gay abandon. That all the canaries had been dropping for decades - concurrent epidemics of obesity and starvation one example, and we sat watching as if it were a movie, we made computer games about it. We, in the most obscene way, relished it - we lapped it up. From Paris to now every day I've felt the heavy hands of time and have come across too many as pessimistic - to the point I almost started to feel awkward. I once asked you a question Chris at a talk - '...do you not just think this is all futile? Do you really see us getting through this?' to which you eloquently replied you had to see us getting through, life would be unbearable otherwise. Yes! Let's get the revolution started. Right here, right now. I would have happily committed to that at least a decade ago. But if I may continue with the forecasting just once more - I can only see it as a genuine revolution. Actually the storming of places, civilisation upturned, overturned - levels of anarchy and violent resistance, ultimately always the bedfellows, will be there. Because this fight is against The Man, and yes Chris he is evil - we haven't even began to see the depths of which. Like some other commentators here, I'm not disappointed - I just want a leader and a plan. It was always going to be this way. Si.

There's not much I could add to your thoughts Chris, 100% agree on the outcomes/decisions made in the last week. The major players in the world, whether in politics, or businesses will never change their destruction of the planet until there's nothing left to take. The whole world needs an overhaul, no country is without fault or blame, Some environmentalists may still be optimistic, but time is now running out fast. Think how old this planet is, the universe as well, and in the blink of an eye we humans are going to bring our planet crashing down, never to recover. We can't give up, but it is depressing.

The rich carry on getting richer as the rest of us suffer. The rich demand unlimited GDP growth and encourage mass consumerism which are costing us the Earth. It’s disgusting that the fossile fuel industry were allowed so much influence at COP26 and it is equally disgusting that the Conservative Party is funded by construction companies, house builders, property sales and letting businesses. We must vote in to power politicians that do not support GDP growth, consumerism and ecological genocide. Well done Chris, and all the other campaigners, for your continued hard work. Oh Chris your passion and depth of feeling for our gorgeous planet and it’s inhabitants is just beautiful! I was deeply saddened and frustrated as you were post the pomposity and grandeur of cop 26 - if it had indeed been able to make great strides forward in the rejuvenation of our eco system oceans waters soil and air and multiple layers of calamity we have created as a collective species - perhaps this outcome could have somehow equalised the grandeur of it all - having said that - it was a grand ball for the leaders of the world to feast with no particular outcome for its people - the natural world - wildlife or our home planet Earth... Even when they agree to project change it’s usually 5 years hence which often means they are no longer in power - so it’s relayed to the next party who predict change within the next 5 years and so it goes on - more rhetoric without any change... Change always happens at grass roots - so you’re right the power to change things may be small to begin with from here - but if everyone watching and sharing your video walks their talk and considers every tree - every river - every plant and we walk forward collectively from a base line of equality and preservation and then discuss how we can impact our environment one ‘tree’ at a time - we can together manifest a change that the leaders of the world with all of their influence and power are unable to do...

Only collective action-rebellion, mass movements, etc-will suffice. Individual action like recycling and vegan diet is virtually meaningless when you consider the scale of the problem. yes you are correct, as a natural resource specialist, i believe the only way to make this change is by global action and removing or sidelining national politix, i have been in this for 25years planting trees managing hedgerows and ecobuilding, when the uk gov made brexit happen by ignoring overseas uk citizens it was obvious they would break any agreement, i have 60years of uk habitat experience, what i did was get out somewhere safe and affordable so i can continue to manage habitats and reduce carbon by storing it in local durable timber structure with a long lifespan. The first thing is to stop floodplain development and switch to better wastewater systems if you can't compost everything possible, use that compost too plant woods and orchards and get rid of lawns! If they can't "get" natural capital we can no longer participate in their economic constructs, it has to be linked action though, it is very difficult alone.

You're right, but in reality is already IS their problem too. It is in nobody on Earth's vested interest to destroy what supports them. But these people either think it isn't really much of a problem (must be a few but I can't believe many can be so thick), or they think they can somewhow escape the consequences by retreating to far flung corners of the world where they can continue living in luxury (again, few can really be so stupid as the realise that such a 'solution' would not endure for long), or they simply think they'll be dead before the worst happens and don't give a shit about those who outlive them. I think this is the predominant thinking. If so, this really is evil.

I'm telling my children that they will have to decide whether or not to have children of their own when the time comes. They are 7 and 9. The oldest one turns 18 in 2030, so will have the vote just when it will be too late...if we do nothing now. For the poorer nations, the choice is between billions dying through climate disruption in the long term globally or millions dying through poverty in the shorter term in their countries. It is a situation entirely manufactured by the likes of Exxon Mobil, who found out 40 years ago that this would happen and hid the evidence. The solution is not one action but a raft of actions that have to go at pace to meet the need. We need to build community resilience so we can withstand the shock of a sudden loss of fossil fuels, and we need to block oil refineries so the supply simply dries up. And, sadly, we need to cut off the flow of support to those who no longer represent our interests in Parliament because they will be the first to act against any direct action, no matter that it is nonviolent and evidence-based, as the present Home Secretary has already demonstrated. In other words more than ever we need to be incredibly imaginative and organised.

Totally a missed opportunity, nowhere near where we needed to get to and, except for a few that were passionate, desperate and understanding of where we are and what needs to be done, the rest were clambering to hold onto what exists now, what makes them economically strong, although it's in their interests in all respects to embrace clean energy and zero waste. I´ve been working in sustainability for the last +20 years. Came up with an idea that I felt confident could make a very meaningful difference towards the better of the planet and tried making it real through a start up. After +10 years I had to shut it down. Building a start up is not easy. I learned my lessons though and I continue feeling absolutely convinced that the idea is a valid one. Sooner or later it will get materialized, but the planet needs it to be sooner rather than later. I now want to, at the very least share it through a video here on KZfaq and see what others think about it. I´m being held back in thinking about who´s going to watch it and what difference will it make but know that I have to try it anyways. ¿Anyone curious about learning of new ways for how to save the planet?

Want to reduce co2 emissions? Follow these steps. 1. Stop using unnecessary products and services. Less product->less manufacturing-> less co2 emission. 2. Change food consumption behavior. Don't eat meat and fast food. 2/3 field used for animal husbandry. This land can be used for crops. It will solve the food problem, less methane will reduce unnecessary food processing industry. 3. Stop judging yourself based on the look, stop purchasing an excessive dress and cosmetic products. 4. If you follow these steps, it will increase unemployment. Time to introduce minimum basic income concept. 5. Save water and plant trees as much as possible. Use public and share transport. 6. Most important point stop the protest and blame others like nonsense, educate yourself. We people are the main culprit. Change your lifestyle within a year whole env will be changing. NET ZERO BY 2030 50 70 LOL. JOKE OF THE DECADE.

We must push for a change to 'capitalism' so it morphs into sustainable circular maintainance SCM. The current method of valuing a company is dependent on growth and does not require 'green' credentials. SCM should value an organisation on its ability to sustain and maintain a healthy balance financially, in its workforce, and in its ecological footprint.

Lobbyists are not defacto on the “wrong” side. It’s down to companies, including fossil fuel companies, to tell governments how they can make differences that will achieve the required targets whilst minimising disruption. A big fan of yours and of all you do for the environment Chris, but as climate advocates we need to win people over, not alienate them. Veganism is far more successful in the UK than many other countries because the message is here how good vegan food is, not how wrong people are to eat meat. If we despair now the game is already lost. It isn’t over.

It needs to be kept as simple as it is. A simple failure to act in order to maintain the status quo. Appreciate you doing so. Detail will be how these vested interests are *justified*. It should be a simple call to action

like they say lead by example, how many of the governments vehicles are electric? there again that is fossel fuel in the UK that produces electric due to the lack of sunshine, and wind farms not able to keep up with the demand for normal usage, or sold to another country or county from where it is produced. great speach Chris, and good on you for having the guts to say this.

The problem is that people feel their needs are justified. Even you sitting there Chris with four lights on in the background and how many others out of shot of the camera. It also looks like daytime, you could have shot this video outside. Your justification will be to make a good visual video. Those leaders are doing the same thing on a larger scale, justifying their use for their needs. I’m not defending them, I’m outlining the problem. It’s an impossible task. Plan for the worst. Huge fan btw.
