Howdy, I'm Jeepin Jason and in this video feature on the AutoEdits Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JKU we will focus on a super detailed install of the Bestop Core Door and Twill Upper bundle kit... and this single upgrade will change the very way I interact with this Jeep... and it is AMAZING!
I've been looking for a few key upgrades to my 2013 Jeep JKU that would make me fall back in love with it... since everyone seems so hot and bothered about the JL and the Gladiator (which I love but can't afford yet) so I'm doing some "tweaks" to my Jeep and this one will change the way I experience daily life in the rig.
Here are the different configurations of doors you can order:
www.bestop.com/core-door-twil...
If the full set is a bit much right now for those 4 door JKU owners... I recommend getting the front uppers and lowers first to see how amazing open Jeeping can be.
Don't forget to get a set of the Highrock replacement mirror sets... which I highly recommend if you go this route since it just makes the swap back and forth from stock doors even easier.
www.bestop.com/products/highr...
and get a set of these mounting cups...
www.bestop.com/products/door-...
Please subscribe to the channel and give me a follow over on Instagram
/ autoedits_jason
Here's a link to the AutoEdits Amazon store front where you can pick up some Tool Box Buddy or many of the upgrades you see me install here on the channel:
www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits
Thanks so much!

I sold a TJ wrangler owner some old tires with non vulcanized rubber and inner tubes then I sold his JK and JL buddies a set of wooden wagon wheels and they loved it. I also sold them an old AM radio to upgrade .

We buy them to go places other vehicles can't. Also, there's nothing more fascinating than having it completely naked (no doors, no top) while driving on the beach. It's already phenomenal to be out there in your vehicle, but being completely naked as well gives you a feeling like none other.

Great video....you've got me inspired again to make my jeep. You're building what I've had in my mind for some time. Those half doors and new tire/rims work. I see how I take hard doors and work around it now. And the hard top... I've been set on soft, but I like your jeep set up, a lot. Good stuff.

The other upper they gave you is for their element doors. The difference is only in the fabric. The core doors and the oem mopar half doors use the same upper as your twill upper just the oem has the vinyl instead of the twill. I can't wait to have my set on this summer. I didn't like these uppers initially but in April they went on sale and i couldn't resist taking the plunge and im glad i did!

My driver side rear was cock-eyed a bit too. Tried the jack method and even with a large piece of wood I wound up denting in the base of the door! Had to loosen the lower hinge to get that one off. If it's not coming with a little force, I'd say just loosen the hinge. Farks up the paint on the hinge bolts but it's better than denting the door! Have heard that it's a common issue on the 2015's. I run the Rugged Ridge tubular doors with the mesh sun shades during the summer and I love them! Excellent fit and finish and their textured powder coat is very nice. The Bestop's and their more 'solid' look is pretty nice and the possibility of the uppers is also a nice feature. And then there's the option to run them skeletonized. Options are nice!

@@AutoEdits Well I made the mistake of selling my factory doors (mine is a 2 door) shortly after I bought it new in '09. Sometimes I'm not the brightest bulb in the lamp. Since then I've been living with the old "Bestop 2 piece doors" which are noisy, leaky, and rattle. Those Core Doors look like a huge upgrade for me.
@douglaswilliams6834
@douglaswilliams6834 4 жыл бұрын
@@AutoEdits Installed these this morning on my two door 2009, including the twill uppers and new mirrors . My install didn't go quite as smoothly as yours. As I said earlier, I don't have factory doors, so I was replacing some old Bestop Element doors. The Element doors had been installed for years, and it took some effort to get them loose. Then I had to drill out the plastic inserts that the element doors left in my door hinges. After that, I got the new Core doors to fit in the hinges, but I had a difficult time getting the twill upper to fit all the way down inside the driver's side Core door. Wound up having to ream out the center pin hole in the middle of the top of the Core door in order for the plastic center pin of the twill upper to fit down inside it. After all that, everything seemed to fit nicely, but my Core doors require much more effort to close and latch properly than yours do. I really have to push hard on the outside of the door or almost slam the door while pulling on the inside strap to get it to latch. I'm hoping this becomes easier after repeated cycles of opening and closing. Having said all that, it is quite obvious that the Core doors are much higher quality than the Element doors. They have much less wind noise and better sealing while traveling on the road at highway speeds. Also, being aluminum, they shouldn't rust, like the Element doors do. So......this is an overall big improvement for me, but don't sell your factory doors, lol.

Jason, you're my go to when it comes to aftermarket....keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next change. Is the Rubicon hood decals getting replaced or are you going with the "murdered out" look?

Great spot on the Rubicon logo delete... I just had a weird bug to pull those a few months ago and kind of like it!

Great video. Love the doors. I can imagine they come with a crazy price tag, however. Something I may consider at some point.
@AutoEdits

Here's the thing... I can honestly say to get the front doors and uppers... very easy to live with so far. And if they work for you, eventually get the back doors (if you have a 4dr) but they aren't for everyone. I will run them full time for a few months and see how it goes and if I want to put the stock doors back on for winter.

@@AutoEdits Yeah I have the 4 door. I really like the quick-change functionality of them and also the fact that they retain the side mirrors. They make a great product.

Hi Jason, my metalcloak overland steel fenders are rusting like hell even though they’re painted. Do your fenders have any issue with rust??

I've been watching your Jeep build from the beginning and man what a beautiful Jeep! If you're looking to change out the top I would recommend the Smittybilt Safari hardtop (I almost bought) or the Bestop Trextop Pro 2.0 (I just got mine installed). Extremely happy with the new top!

Jeep looks good man! Those are very tempting to buy, id buy them in a second if the upper door was fibre glass or plastic and had a hard window. Then i would be sold.

It’s 4am idk why I’m up but I’m glad I am. I was on the fence about these doors but after this I like them. I’m interested in how much louder it is long term. I know I’m probably gonna switch to milestars or sell my soft top because it’s way to loud with road noise. Got use to driving my fusion lol

They are an adjustment for sure but so much fun. Going from power windows/mirrors/door locks to none of the above is tough in the city but the joy of pulling the upper doors off and driving home from work on a cool evening is absolutely invigorating... not to mention the trail versatility. But it's a huge investment for a lifestyle change with the Jeep. Glad I can go back to my stock doors in 15 minutes if I had to but so far.. I'm rocking these 100% of the time for now!

It sounds like a tent in a windstorm going down the highway, but it protects your nice doors from scratches and take alot of weight off when wheeling ;-) Plus all 4 doors can fit in the boot with a fold down top.
