I thought to review a variety of corner clamps I have to give my opinion of what they are like and conclusion to my experience.

Who would have thought this video would still help someone even after 5 years of posting. Thanks a lot Steve.

Thank you for this video! I'm purchasing clamps for my husband for his birthday and didn't know where to start or which brands were good! This was very helpful!

Great comparison. Thank you for the video. Just a FYI, I just bought one of the Bessy corner clamps today for $20 at Home Depot. The Kreg Corner Clamps run about $30 some on Amazon. Though I think the Kreg are a little easier to use.

Hi Steve, great video - whats the maximum depth the Kreg clamp goes to, ie down from the shoulder that fits flush against the top of the board?

Thanks Steve. I have four of the Bessey corner clamps, but you are right. Flexible, but lots of time to set up for new projects. Kreg has the best I think. The self adjusting feature ought to speed things up. Gotta get some based on your review..

BigTrainBuff Good on ya mate, glad I helped you with your decision, yes they are a bit tricky but they are solid!!!! Happy clamping!

FWIW, the Kreg clamp seems to be available under other brand names as well. I found them under Saker and Drillpro. The Drillpro's were listed at $13.99. I don't know that they are functionally identical but I couldn't see any difference based on the posted images.

Nice comparison. Did you get your eyeglasses from Kreg as well?

I have had little to no success with the Kreg Clamps. I cannot get them to adjust to a firm clamping pressure. Had the same problem with their other clamps.

Thanks for the great video, Steve. So, for just an occasional drawer assemble and cabinet frame assembly would you say that I could get by with one clamp or would I need two. Also, Kreg or the Bessey, I think the Rockler is out of stock anyway. Thanks
@bighands695 жыл бұрын
With a drawer you could just do one side at a time so that could mean having just one clamp. If you wanted to try and do two clamps on one corner you would need some way of having the bottom corner lifted of the work surface to get it underneath. If you are screwing the corners into place you could just use one clamp on a corner and then use some clamps and simple jigs to stop the whole piece from moving. So either building a corner jig or buying corner squares that you can use will make it easier. So what you could do is to clamp one bit to the work surface so it cannot actually move and then use the corner clamp to join the two pieces together. The size of the bits of wood you are working with will dictate how awkward it is to work with.

One thing that the Rockler has going for it is that you can see the top of the corner. Got to keep my eye on the Besseys going on sale.

Hey Steve , I like using the dominos to get the job done ,strong joints and no visible fasteners,cheers,👍👍🗜🔨
@sicdsteve15 жыл бұрын
Troy Queen yeah yeah but takes too long and I have to do it quickly, so screwing is all it’s needed. Their house is a very humble abode nothing luxurious. So to do it in dominos would be like ‘ feeding strawberries to pigs’ in other words it’s over doing a utilitarian need. High end no issue but my daughter and her family aren’t fussed and I have limited time to acheive it all.

May I ask what type of clamps those bessey clamps are on the bottom? Maybe a model number?

I don't have one but just begin typing"kreg a" for kreg automaxx Clamp and see the first suggestions that come back are all stuff along the lines of "kreg automaxx Clamp not working... Why won't kreg clamp work... Broken, etc."

@@Chaosfury50 or maybe people do not know how to use them. Never had an issue with their clamps.

People they work great! First time use you need to work them a bit. All the auto adjust clamps on the market need a little use to make them work perfectly!
@geoffmander57403 жыл бұрын
@@georgebarnes9190 They work just great for a while, but then the adjustment mechanism in the handle gets scored and jams. Mine have been driving me crazy and are going into the dustbin.
