Hi if I'm honest with you I stopped watching Corrie after COVID. I can't believe that even now they hardly have anyone in the Rovers. Don't the writers of today's Corrie understand that the Rovers is the main meeting place of coronation Street. That's why so many people are watching the older episodes. Same as EastEnders. A total waste of the TV licence fee. Anyway thanks to KZfaq we can always watch Corrie in its prime.

The month before, in February 1985, Eastenders had launched on BBC 1 to great acclaim. Coronation Street was being criticised for being stuck in a nostalgic view of the working class, which did not reflect the rather darker realities of 1980s Britain. Eastenders sought to portray a rather darker picture, which seemed more realistic at the time. There had been a number of new characters around this time and it seems they were an attempt to freshen up Coronation Street.

Yay Womens lib, such freedom….punching a time clock, jumping to someone else’s demands, doing a crappy job ANYONE else can do…instead of doing the most important job in the world….raising the next generation.
