the liz and deirdre friendship was always more genuine and warmer than the more contrived janice/eileen and sally/gail friendships.

Deirdre in general was one of the most genuine characters in the soap. Not for her explosive storylines but just something about the way she acted. Same with her mum, Deirdre/Blanche was the best mother/daughter pair in Corrie.

They are not perverts and became very popular with the others in the street and every person in the street over the years has had their own outrageous storylines due to fabulous writing.
