Coronation Street needs a new Richard Hillman. This was a fantastic storyline that went on for three years with so many twists and turns, with multiple times he was nearly caught out before he finally confessed to Gail, nearly getting caught out with his cock and bull story about the bracelet. Best three years in soap history.

I really don't understand Richard. He could have sold the flats for £70,000 - £75,000 each instead of the £120,000 he intended and he would have had £300,000 which is what he spent on the flats. Even if they sold for £60,000 each as he said, he would have £240,000 which would pay off at least a good deal of his debts. Then, adding the £17,000 Gail got and the £12,000 from selling his car he would have £29,000 to deal with additional debts. Then, add on his and gails salaries as well as the money he took off of Jack, Vera, Emily (and probably quite a lot of others) and he would definitely be able to prove to the bank that he could pay off all his debts, or just pay them off outright. Unless I'm missing something, he could've fixed this quite early on. He wouldn't have made much of a profit, but the bank would have left him alone. If I'm missing something big, could someone let me know, as i don't see why this would be so world-ending for a guy who understands finance.

Why would Audrey leave Gail everything in the will-what about her son Stephen? Also if Gail's house is worth 50k why is she only getting 17k in the remortgage? Gail knew Richard was in dire circumstances over the cash and he told her they needed about 60k on top of the flat sales [i think] to cover the loan to the bank so why wouldn't she get the whole 50k?

Well Stephen owns and runs two fashion companies - one in Canada and one in Italy. He's incredibly wealthy, he doesn't need any money from Audrey. But Gail in 2002 worked as a medical receptionist and had 3 kids living with her. Audrey probably thought Gail needed the money more

I recall in 1995 Ivy Tilsey died and left her house to Nick and Don owned half so paid Nick off 12k. That meant the house Ivy lived in [currently owned by Chesney] was worth only 24k?? That seems very little even by 1995 standards considering it is Manchester.

Huge 'as if/unrealistic' moment here at 2:51- after they hear the news about Sarah in the crash Gail is upset[naturally] then she composes herself enough to ask Richard why he mentioned Patricia. Like wtf-you'd be wayyy too concerned about your daughter in 'critical' condition with head injuries in intensive care to even give 1 dam about Patricia or rather pull Richard up on why he said it. That and there was nothing odd about him asking about Patricia when the cops came as they'd already being around several times about her vanishing and she was a registered missing person. Why would Richard even saying that evoke suspicion in Gail? Very implausible writing here.

@stoddard1953
@stoddard1953 2 жыл бұрын
Because Richard was playing the long game in trying to kill Audrey. It would make more sense to say it was stolen rather than it being sold. Otherwise that car dealership scene wouldn't have happened - thus setting Richard back. It may have also caused Gail to question why Richard would sell the car. Because it was that scene that helped increase evidence that Audrey was going senile. The more people see it, the more people believe it. Richard didn't care about the car; he cared more about the 250,000 pounds that Gail would inherit when Audrey dies. He already knew about her will at this point. It was just a matter of putting things into action.
