It certainly feels that way to me, but maybe that's just me and not emblematic of most men who'd say that. It honestly feels like you wouldn't make a joke like that so regularly if you didn't feel it on some level more fundamental level.

@@avarice4556 oh yeah, it’s definitely rooted in seriousness, but not in a rape-y way, which I think is their point. It’s always said as a joke, but they are in a committed relationship with a foundation of trust and respect; they both know he’s serious, but joking about it is a way to let off some of the tension.

Honestly, from a relationship building standpoint, it's a terrible idea to reserve sex until after marriage. After you're married is the absolute WORST time to discover that you're sexually incompatible with the person you've now committed your life to. Living with a person for a while and experiencing sex with them is absolutely necessary to know if you're really meant for one another. Marriage itself should be the endgoal. Not all the other stuff. Living together and pre marital sex shouldn't be looked at as "bad." They should be looked at as tests to determine if you're with someone that you can stand enough to grow old with.

At least here Cory is so incredibly goofy and over the top erratic that it's impossible to take him seriously. In serious moments he respects and cares for Topanga (most of the time), so these scenes are purely meant to be silly and fun.

Cory could never be intimate in high school since topanga didn’t want to, he couldn’t with any other girl because that meant he would never get topanga back. They didn’t do it all through high school (cause it’s a teen show), and once they got engaged right after high school it only seems to make sense to wait until after they were married. The show wanted to set a good example I suppose, and it is kind of sweet they did.

@@delpicsla65 That’s not true because there were other teens on the show who were implied to be doing it like Sean and Eric. Sean and Angela were 100% doing it while unmarried. So Corey and Topanga didn’t have to wait, nor would viewers have thought badly of it. The writers chose to have them wait for marriage and I honestly love it because I think it’s within their characters, and it’s just nice that they showed that there are other options.

That was a mistake in continuity. They were not together that long. After they got together, they changed the story and acted like they knew each other since they were toddlers. If they had, Eric would have known who she was when she developed that crush on him, and he would have known her sister. A sister that failed to exist after that

@ymarrero23 hold up, Corey definitely would have married her even if they had sex before marriage because he loved her with all his heart. He was not with her purely for sex, he genuinely wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. Just because he had a strong desire for sex doesn’t mean that’s all he wanted and it doesn’t mean he didn’t want to be with her for the right reasons

Nailed it!!! Same here. It’s half the reason why I can’t even watch season 6 and 7 and often stop around 4 or 5. I’ve watched them all over a dozen times so it’s not like I’m missing out anything. But seasons 1-4 were really the core of the show. Part of that could be said - (and again I bring up family matters on this thread) about that show because near the end it was really Urkel and Carl carrying the load with the comedy and such - obviously with Laura as the alternate. But people wanted more seasons so they tried to go with what they felt the viewer wanted.

Corey explains that in either season 4 or 5. He said that he and Topanga had been close friends since they were toddlers but at some point in elementary school Eric convinced Corey that it wasn’t cool to have a girl for a best friend so he shunned Topanga but she was still apart of his life.

@@gaurikakhosla5011 he's not pressuring her, what he's actually doing is expressing frustrations of his physical needs not being met in their relationship... which anyone whose been involved in couples therapy knows this is not only healthy but a big part of communication in majority of relationships Corey is expressing that his natural desire to express his love and passion for his partner is being rejected and how that hurts him, which is why Topanga responds lovingly to him and shows his forms of reciprocation such as calling him sexy or don and as she felt more comfortable showing him her butt When you try to twist what Corey is doing to make it negative you actually create an environment that fosters toxic relationships where partners can't express themselves to each other

Actually, the show was written to age with the kids that originally watched it. That's why the topics went from middle school appropriate to college age appropriate.

Also it didn't originally air on the Disney channel. Thats why the later seasons are heavily edited, or just down right not shown on DC.

I don't know if he wrote the Frustration poem but Rider did write the poem Shawn wrote about Angela; he was really into poetry. Rider mentioned in an interview that the writers came up with different poems for the scene but they all sucked. So they ended up using Rider's writing for the scenes.
