I mean, I'm black and I watched Boy Meets World. While shawn and Angela had chemistry, I didn't like how, all of a sudden, shawn falls hard for a girl that the audience barely knew. Should've built it up beforehand. Looking back, that show wasn't good at showcasing romantic relationships. I thought it was a bit much with how much attention the relationship between Cory and Topanga was showcased, and it definitely was a bit much and not believable when she ran away from home to be back with Cory and when they eventually got married.

Im watching for the first time now and i love that he's genuinely kind to her and patient with her.

+quell quell Hmm. I wouldn't say that completely, "That's So Raven" came out in the 2000s and is fondly remembered for a reason as it tackled many heavy subjects while still being silly at times. Mid 2000s was "Good Luck Charlie" and "Wizards of Waverly Place", and a somewhat newer show had arguably the most stuff to talk about "Andi Mack". It was after my time, but I watched it because I found the characters super endearing. Among other things it talked about teen pregnancy, familial trauma, mental health, stubbornness issues in dealing with having learning disabilities, anxiety attacks, and more that I can't even name. Can't speak for Disney of today as I've outgrown it, but one of these shows had a teen demographic in mind and luckily got to grow with the audience, and others got cut after all of three seasons as per usual for Disney, but also had to play things super safe too.

Well Disney changed its target audience over time.

In my head, they eventually found their way back and ended up together. That was just too real for GMW. Thats why the show didn't work. The end game was for Maya and Riley for GMW. I think they hated that Shawn and Angela were getting too popular so they messed them up. They didn’t want them to outshine the lead couple.

*whats interesting about girl meets world is that they had to end the show because the main character who’s real name is Rowan wasn’t going for the pedophilia and racism that was going on ; on the show. I remember her talking about report some top dude that was behind the show for molesting one of her fellow cast member who was also under age. That cast member confided in the lead actress and Rowan encourage the young girl to report that sick dude. It became a huge thing. The young girl didn’t go any further with it because all the stupid adults who should know better told that young girl to keep quiet because she could ruin that man’s career???. Rowan said all of this in an interview she then mentioned the white supremacy that was going on; on the show. It led to everyone basically bullying Rowan. I was thinking wow I can’t believe this is real and how was she going to continue doing the show. Shortly after her complaints they ended/canceled the show. When Rowan spoke on white supremacy I was shocked this was waaay before the beautiful black actress who plays Angela real name Trina McGee came forward about the horrible mistreatment she experienced by her follow cast members along with those who worked behind the scenes. I’m really proud of Rowan for standing up for someone who was not even important on the show. They all kept telling her what would end up happening and how a lot of people will loose their jobs but she did what was right. Many children are told the same thing and suffer in silence only to end up on drugs years later in their adult hood or suicidal. All because adults molest them as children. It’s crazy because it really opens your eyes to things. When a tv show only hires one black actor one person of color in a pretty much all white cast then yeah it’s safe to say the show runners are racist and the only reason they hired the person of color is to be a token plus it’s a tax write off*

that’s what I love about angela & shawn. they were more realistic in my opinion because most young couples aren’t perfect & have to get through stuff together to become closer. topanga and cory were amazing, but unrealistically the golden couple who fought/broke up over stupid scenarios compared to shawngela.
