Generally speaking, you can save a lot of money on fruit and vegetables, seafood, and meat & poultry if you do your shopping at a market rather than a supermarket. For example, in Melbourne, many people shop at the Queen Victoria Market or Preston market. If you can be there on Saturdays at around eleven o'clock, they sell meat at heavily discounted prices. Supermarkets were built for convenience, but you pay extra for that convenience.

100% agree. Farmers markets are the best choice, particularly from a social and sustainability viewpoint (as opposed to industrialised markets). I wish there were more of them though, within walking distance or a bit more accessible for people who don't have a car or live a bit further from the city (the one closest to my place is more than 5km away and only open once a month!). Thank you for your comment :)

@@livingsimplyaustralia Don't forget that each supermarket has specials (discounted items) and finding a local green grocer (shop that sells just fruit and vegetables)...hopefully one that is separate from a shopping mall area because they are usually much cheaper. Same goes for a butcher, we have one where it is consistently half price or less for chicken and a third cheaper for red meats than the supermarkets. Another very good place to buy meat and other things is to find your cities asian suburb areas...there they will usually have dozens of small to medium asian food supermarkets. These are fantastic places to buy many different products and sometimes better meat and seafood than the main supermarkets with cheaper prices.

@@livingsimplyaustralia I think lack of competition makes things so expensive in Australia. There are too few supermarket chains in Australia. I am living in Tokyo and there are three supermarkets around my apartment. So even though Japanese farmers can't grow many kinds of fruits and vegetables on their land the prices of these items seem to be more affordable than that in Australia.
@hudiemi
@hudiemi Жыл бұрын
@@haha-eg8fj that’s not correct, australia supermarkets are very competitive, thats why they all have weekly special categories, includes heaps of discount items and some are real half price items. I have been to Tokyo, their supermarkets never have real half price items except near expiry date items. Also don’t forget Japan’s fruit and vege price are sky rocketing, and that’s why Japanese family only eat one apple for the whole family after dinner

I think you missed some very important facts. Australia has a very unique shopping culture: weekly special, all big supermarkets has weekly special, half price items,if u can organize your shopping wisely, you can save at least 30% very week. Also independent shops and markets selling fruit, meat and seafood at least 20-30 % cheaper than these supermarkets

If you live in Melbourne near the CBD, check out the Queens Vic Market - much more affordable! and is open almost every day of the week! They have huge sales as well :) There's also the South Melbourne market and Preston market (there're others but only run sporadically or you need a car, not super accessible in that sense). Hoping you have an amazing experience here in Australia!! :)

Unfortunately farmers markets in Australia are not what you might expect. They are now 'trendy' sunday morning hangouts where you can sip your latte and buy organic veg, usually at a higher cost than supermarkets. check out the Asian grocers for the cheapest fruit & veg

How's the hair salon experience in Melbourne? Is it different from other countries, the terminologies, price, and services like hair cut, pedicure, manicure all at one place or separate places? Do one video on this

Hi! Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you liked the video :) If you'd like to study in Australia, I'd suggest going online and checking the universities websites to see what are the entry requirements and fees for the course you are interested in. Another alternative, is to contact a Migration agent (cost money $) or Education Consultant (usually they are free) to get their advice. Just google: "education consultants Australia", and you'll get plenty of options :) Check out my video on 'how to move to australia', as I talk about this in more detail, hopefully it helps! (I'm not a migration agent so I can't provide advice on visas, or legal matters regarding migration.)

Things will only become cheaper when the population grows. It all goes down to the cost per purchase. The more you purchase the more they produce. If you don't consume anything no one is gonna make it and ship it to the stores. Hence there won't be any job in this place.
