Costa Rica 2022 Presidential Election Results - What does this mean for you ?

Costa Rica recently celebrated presidential and congressional elections for 2022. in this video, I will go over the results of both the Presidential and Congressional Results. Who won and which political parties rose and which disappeared and what it all means for all of you who are considering living or investing in Costa Rica.

What it will be the best against these no-sense covid restrictions? Especially against the mandatory for childrens. Or for your opinion we can have a mandatory for everybody with the new president? Me and others are in CR from EU, escaped from the dictatorship. Ty fpr ur job. Is very important

Thank you for your comments. Costa Rica cannot afford to close down the economy and at the moment everything is open. I think a lot of people from many parts of the world are coming to Costa Rica for the same reasons that you did.

Outstanding summary again Roger. Thanks so much. The way the congress is elected is fascinating. Being a list based proportional representation it is interesting to see the dizzying array of voting options being distilled down to the 6 successful parties that have to work together. It seemed that the many many parties running provided pretty much every citizen the right to vote for their own ideology and when analyzed can give the government and the people a much truer measure of the sentiments of the populace than simple Leftist/Righist/Craziest that dominates much of the so called democratic world.

Thank you for comment. Yes, many political choices. The relative ease and low cost to form a political party and enter into elections really levels the playing field. If you look at the political party and candidate that made it to the run off presidential elections and won several congressional seats, they came from one of these newer political parties which has never held political office.

This is wonderful information we are looking to get out of Canada , we would like to have an investment property , small hotel or farm that produces fruit or coffee 😊

I know it's only one day after the elections, but are the results known? And whatever happened to the follow-up video to your presentation entitled "APPROVED - Law to Attract Investors, Rentistas and Pensioners - What comes next ?" from July 23, 2021? I'll be turning 69 in June and I'm ready to retire. Have much of my paperwork done, but have unfortunately lost touch with this critical information due to time spent with grandchildren, work, daughter getting married, etc.

Hi. Thank you for your comments - since July 23 nothing new to report. We are waiting for the final regulations to be approved by Immigration and the Treasury department. They seem to have given priority to the Digital Nomad regulations and those are currently in the final stages of implementation. As soon as we have any news we will post a video on it.

HOW will this election affect the law recently passed by the Assamblea, which allows retirees to bring 2 vehicles, their personal possession, etc. to CR without any import duty ?

It should not have any affect. The only way to eliminate that law would be for the newly elected Asamblea (Congress) to repeal it. At the moment I am not seeing any signs that the newly elected Asamblea is looking to reverse that program. Once we have an elected President then we can see what policies will be prioritized.

@@CostaRicaLaw Thanks ! That's good news, as we are seriously considering moving back to CR ! We lived there for 5 years in the early 2000's, and only returned to the USA to help our kids thru the 2008 Crisis.

Hi and thank you for your comment. My understanding is that the final regulations are currently drafted so maybe we will get them in place before this government leaves office in May. We shall see

Great job. I thought Canada had alot of political parties! Hopefully, whoever becomes leader is not as arrogant as the leader we have in Canada. Trudeau has become a world joke! His father is turning in his grave.
