1) I love seeing videos about what people eat and ... oddly enough, what is in YOUR fridge, believe it or not. I know, WIERD, huh? 2) See, Costco you have to pay annually to join, so of course it will be better value to go to Foodland. 3) I love poke at the Kahuku Superette most of all. It has a nice snap and crispness to it. Others are mushy. Mushy poke is that which has been previously frozen and not just freshly caught. No excuse for that in Hawai'i, to be honest with you with water all around you and fishies out there to da max.

Bra, before the covid issue, I used to shop at both of those stores. I also, many years ago used to work at Louis Vuitton in Waikiki. I worked during the time when Kenye West came into the store to see the shoe that him and Louis Vuitton collaborated on together. I had to shut the doors and lock them cause too many people were trying to get into the store to speak to him and that is when 'theft' is at it's highest ! Now, of course, I'm here in northern virginia where I see lots of other hawaiians, samoans, tungans, polynesians, micronesians and filipinos...so much diversity here in northern Virginia that you would think you were in hawaii..

The Aloha is real. It does show up in Costco too. Social behaviors on the mainland are atrocious in public. I trained my now grown son that good manners would take him farther than education or money and it has. The humility, the absence of entitlement with a natural respect for keiki and kapuna make the experience of living or even visiting a greater pleasurable experience than most mainland places for sure. Even at the Honolulu Costco, the busiest location anywhere, locals definitely makes it a nicer place to shop at. Costco shoppers here in Tucson are frankly space cadets. It is like bumper cars with shoppers hitting other carts without even an acknowledgement much less a courtesy apology. Costco makes food more affordable for sure. Who can beat a $5 Huli Huli Chicken? Gotta just shop the Foodland sales and pay whatever the price is for their outstanding poke.

We are on the NS of Oahu and we go to Costco in Waipio about once a month. Overall Costco is about a third cheaper than Foodland. Once a week we go to the Foodland in laie because it’s nicer than the one in Pupukea but it doesn’t have alcohol. We use the Pupukea store as a convenience store. The only consolation to sky high food prices here is that the outer islands are even worse. As for gasoline the trick is to pay attention because prices can vary quite a bit from place to place and day to day.

In, japan it was like the Planet of the Apes at Costco! They, let anyone get a card too. With no respect to Costco in Japan and they took all of the good American snacks and items you can't find with Japanese items. So, kinda sucks. They turned Costco into some other kind of trash store. hahaha, sad! Kids running around with a hand for sample bread dropping it all over the floor! To me it is disrespectful. In the States or Hawaii, you get the membership by job and more of a benefit as in Japan anyone can just, buy, a card and go in!
