I don't understand how this is even a debate. Batman would get his ass kicked. And people alwayd bring up the prep time and how intelligent batman is. Superman is insanely intelligent, he can learn all the information a book contains (in a few seconds) and recall it in perfect clarity, he also builds his own gadgets. If you give batman prep time, superman also gets prep time, in the fortress of solitude he has loads of gadgets, technology taken from bad guys. An army of robots all kinds of dangerous pets. And all of this is still not taking into account that superman could lobotomize batman from space, if you remove the no killing rule which batman is also bound to.

Batman's Smarter? So is Brainiac. Hell, Brainiac is a lot smarter than Batman, but Supes still wins. Kryptonite? Lex Luthor's battlesuit is filled with Kryptonite weaponry, but Supes still wins. Mech Suit? If people argue that Iron Man would lose to Superman, then so would Batman in a mech suit. Especially since he has some sort of compulsion to leave his mouth area exposed. The only way I could see Batman taking a win without help from an outside source is to trick Superman into going into a lead room filled with Kryptonite on the walls and ceiling, that also emits red sun radiation, with Batman in a mech suit. Otherwise, Superman's taking it. And the only reason I say he needs to make the room out of lead is so that Superman doesn't X-Ray through it and lie about something on the other side to distract Batman.

I feel people are confusing the two "Who would win between Batman and Superman?" and "Could Batman beat Superman?". Yes. Hands down, Supes would win. 99/100 probably. But COULD Batman win? Is it possible? At least in the movie version at the end of the fight with Batman's epic speech he adds (I'm loosely quoting here) "Yes I could have used a stronger compound, more concentrated dose of Kryptonite [etc etc]" he never Wanted to kill Superman there, but he definitely could have from that position had he wanted to. We know however that Superman never went full-out in that fight, but Batman also KNEW he wouldn't go all-out, and counted on it - which counts as a win in my book, since Superman wouldn't realize his mistake until he had already lost. Superman is no where NEAR as fast as the Flash, but he can still move at speeds close to, or just exceeding, the speed of light. Meaning if he ever wanted to (and I wish to God Superman writers would make him) he could move at the speed of light and either punch or heatvision his enemies, literally before the foe has a chance to blink, let alone realize Superman had even moved. In the New 52 Superman there are some GREAT quotes of people noting Superman's punches can shatter and topple entire Mountains! There is no way in hell any of Bat's armors can tank a hit from that. Could Batman win, does he have a chance at all? Yes, there are possibilities, but they are insanely slim. Would he win? If the writers made Superman go all-out and for ONCE use the actual potential of all his powers and go for the kill? No. Not even with years of prep.

I am going to explain why I think BATMAN would win this battle, before I get attacked on the comments I just want to say that you are NOT subjected to my opinion which will be supported by facts from the entire DC multiverse which includes comics and movies facts. First I want to say that in the movie "crisis on two earths" Batman was able to neutralize Superwoman(with one of his gadgets of course) which she is the equivalent to Wonderwoman which is like the female version of Superman. Another thing is that how can you say that Superman could kill batman from far away with his laser beam if Batman was able to dodge Darkseid's OMAGA beam. Another thing is that according to your standards the battle from the "Dark Knight Returns "doesn't count because he got helped by Green Arrow, well what if batman would had kept with him some of those special arrows he used in order to beat superman right when battle starts, another thing is that at the end of that "first" round Batman had the opportunity to kill Superman he just didn't do it because that was not the point(but that is up to debate). Who remembers when Superman got stabbed with a pice of kryptonite in Superman retuns? Well why not just cut his throat with a pice of kryptonite, their are so many things you could do with Kryptonite: swords, armors, bullets, arrows, poisoning gas, poisoning gas bombs, poisoning gas missiles, kryptonite chains, batrangs etc. Finally Batman will have a psychological advantage over superman because he always and will always(or at least 98% percent of the times) hold himself back because he knows that his powers are to great for him that's why he chooses to hear what he wants to hear, or to lift what he wants to lift, or to run as fast as he wants to run because can't assume the responsibility of having to much power, he will always limit himself. The Kryptonite that Superman himself gave to Batman as a contingency was likely not just put in a pocket of the utility belt, and never studied. He would probably surprise Superman by coming at him with a variation on Kryptonite that he wasn't prepared for, such as Blue Kryptonite, which strips Kryptonians of their powers, making them practically human. Not to mention weaponizing the material in various ways. Such as Kryptonite Gas. Then there's the arsenal at Batman's disposal. He doesn't JUST have the various Bat suits, and vehicles, and weapons that we are all familiar with. He also has his trophy room, full of the things his enemies developed. There's the tech, that he likely studied to come up with his own variations, but there's also the tools of his magic wielding opponents through the years. Magic items that Superman would be vulnerable to. And then there is Batman's tactical training. And one of the most relevant tactics that Batman would likely use if facing Superman in a fight to the death, one on one, is to use your enemies strengths against him. He's had samples of Superman's blood and DNA as much as Star Labs or even Lex Luthor has. If anyone could use that to determine the connection with the spectrum of the suns light and how powerful Superman is, Batman could. He'd have some Red Sunlamps in his arsenal, as well as using sonic emitters to use his super hearing against him. He'd control the field of battle so that superman would have to come in close to detect him, by using led lined walls, and some kind of a labyrinth. Some parts of the maze would have traps designed specifically for taking out a Kryptonian, by various methods. All automated from a safe control room, that would itself be automated, and just another trap. He'd use the arsenal of various Kryptonites, his knowledge of Kryptonian physiology, his tech, his magical trophies, and a labyrinth full of traps. But that's something even a team of villains could put together. The icing on the cake, is the fact that Bruce Wayne is 100 times the man that Clark Kent is, when on even footing, any day of the week. Normally that means little, because as Superman, his powers practically make Clark a God. But in such a battle, Batman wouldn't let this be a "Normal" situation. Bruce Wayne has mastered several martial arts, could out tactic any general in history, and would likely even give Sun-Tsu a run for his money, and he always goes in prepared. Basically, the nail in Superman's coffin, is that he's not fighting just a man. He's fighting Batman. A man that has BECOME fear. A man that has taken all comers, and never overplayed his hand. If Batman was at the point that he wanted someone dead. There isn't a thing that you could do to stop him. Even if you were Superman. Good thing for Superman that he and Batman are friends.

You have to remember that Superman's main defining characteristics are his morals, not his powers. Superman is decent and kind, and swore to never take someone's life. Therefore in order to beat him, you'd have to get him to do something evil. This has happened a few times in various stories, where Superman was either tricked, brainwashed, mind controlled, manipulated, or otherwise forced like he was in _The Dark Knight Returns_. When forced to do something immoral, Superman's subconscious holds him back so that he's not fighting at full strength. Although he's still extremely dangerous, this makes it possible to defeat him, or at least to last as long as Batman did. This is the strategy typically used by Lex Luthor, and the reason he's Superman's greatest arch-nemesis. He doesn't have Darkseid's Omega Beams or Doomsday's strength, but he has tricked and manipulated Superman many times to get the public to lose faith in him. Superman is who he is because of his moral compass, and if he were to lose or abandon that, he would no longer be Superman.

Batman's main strength that gives him an edge over any superhero is his intellect and ability to out-think his opponent. He would only win if he had time to plan and prepare for the coming fight...which isn't really fair to give Batman time to prepare and not superman.

While it is true that Superman was going easy on Batman in each of their fights, the same could be said for Batman. He straight up says *"But I didn't have to go easy on you. A different binding agent, a stronger mix."* Or when he said *"Don't worry, you'll survive. The Kryptonite will work its way out of your lungs soon enough."* In each fight, Batman wasn't trying to kill Supes, he was either trying to stall him or prove a point. I have to agree with Arris. Even though Batman has a Kryptonite ring, Superman could use his heat vision from a longer way off, and in 'A Death in the Family' after Jason Todd had been killed by the Joker, Batman lashed out, punching Superman in the jaw, but Superman rolled with the punch, because he knew that a full impact would smash Batman's hand to pieces!

A few things i'd like to point out about the dark knight returns (I know this is old but im new to this channel) 1) Batman only involved Oliver because he asked to be apart of it, he was fully prepared to apply the kryptonite himself. 2) Batman didn't want to kill supes either, he was sending a message. That being said one thing everyone forgets to mention in a vs fight is personality. Batman KNEW Supes wouldn't kill him he knew he would hold back and Batman exploited that. If batman had prep time knowing superman was fully intending to kill him. He'd just dumb a truckload of kryptonite on him or make a suit like Lux luthor did out of kryptonite

Here's how I think Batman could win: First he could wear a full suit made entirely out of Kryptonite, so that Superman couldn't even touch him and Batman could stay safe from his Super-Strength. Then, Batman could shoot a Grappling Hook, with a Kryptonite tip, straight at Superman's chest and pull him down towards him. Then Batman could punch Superman in the face multiple times (keeping in mind that Batman's entire suit is made out of Kryptonite, so it would weaken and brutally damage Superman even more) and then take out a Kryptonite spear and put it straight through his chest or heart. This would permanently damage Superman or most probably kill him and finally put an end to all this "Batman Vs Superman" argument. Conclusion: Kryptonite is essential for killing Superman and is the ideal tool for Batman in order to permanently terminate Superman.

On one side of this fight we have a very mortal man that struggles to win against villains like Joker and Bane. Two dangerous but equally mortal, and therefore, limited foes. On the other side of this fight is a being that can move at near Flash levels of speed, bench press the weight of the earth for days, and hold a black hole in his hands. Can rain fire down from the heavens or turn you into a block of ice in an instant. It's not a contest! There are so many ways in which Superman wins this fight. He doesn't even have to be in the same city as Batman to beat him. I know Bat fans will disagree, but c'mon!
