Could Eveliina Salonen Have Used PDGA Rule 807.B To Her Advantage During This Disc Golf Oddity?

Lets hear your thoughts on this. Obviously she didn't make the putt. However, even though it was supported by the outside of the tray, should this have counted being that the tray was SUPPORTING the disc? See the rule below 👇
807 Completing the Hole
A. A target is a device whose purpose is to clearly determine completion of a hole. A basket target is designed to catch discs and generally consists of a tray, chains, and a chain support mounted on a pole. An object target generally has a marked target area.
B. In order to complete a hole with a basket target, the thrower must release the disc and it must come to rest supported by the tray or the chains below the chain support.

Rule clearly needs updated to include verbiage about ONLY being supported by the basket/cage/chains, because the ground is also supporting it.

I guess technically it came to rest “supported by the tray”, but it’s touching the ground and not entirely supported by the tray?

I'd call it a made putt and suggest an immediate rule change.

The PDGA ruled on a similar situation. They said it counts. The idea is that if you move the basket the disc would move. In the literal sense the discs position is being supported by the basket.

I’m pretty sure correct me if I’m wrong but if the disc is supported by the basket it’s a putt made

Wouldn’t it count the same way as if your shot got wedged in the tray? Came to rest due to the tray and a small part of the disc has breached the inside.

We all know the idea is to get the disc IN the basket. If someone invoked that rule in seriousness after such a bad miss, I'd take their discs away.

What about a bad miss that goes off a tree and into the basket? Not gonna count that? There's no rule about the throw being impressive in order for it to count.

It's supported by the ground and the tray, without the ground it would not rest in this position. Also it's a clear miss, I would feel bad if it happened to me and I'd use that rule..

Just think of how many aces were made from clear misses off of trees, off the ground,!!!! This was a rare case, because how many baskets have the ground that high?

According to the wording this lie would count as completing the hole. That's a made putt. If they change it to include the words "supported only and solely by..." then it would not count. As it is currently, it is correct and legal to play the hole as if it were completed by this putt. No provisional needed.

Not a made putt, but certainly warrants updating the language of the rule to indicate it needs to be within the space of the basket tray and chain assembly. Cool find!

Not certain what the issue is here, commentator says something about orange ?, sounds like someone says something about first availabla, another commentator says something about relief... ohn says something about where evalina can stand, .td must of put something in caddy book about this hole....id take video down and post another as its confusing

If she had hit chains then I would have to say that technically it was a made put but because she didn't it would be inconclusive that she had entered the target before resting on the cage.
