Argentina started the WC as Copa América champs and beat Italy the European champs, and they were 2nd in the qualifiers and they had a winning streak of more than 30 games undefeated before the start of the WC. They scored 4 goals against Saudi, one disallowed by mistake, 2 on a defending Mexico, 2 on Poland who didn't take a single shot, 3 on Croatia, where Croatia had one shot at most. And the final? France didn't touch the ball for 80 minutes, I've never seen anything like that in a WC final. That game should have ended 3-0 if it wasn't for Scaloni's mistakes.
