Hello. My name is Silas Morand and I'm wanting to purchase my first MTS welder. Is the Everlast lightning mts 275 just like this machine, but stronger? Ive been looking at the Everlast lightning mts 275 for quite some time now and I'm highly considering it. Does it have the same consumables as this machine like the nova foot pedal? Thanks..

bought their 520 three in one... wanted the plasma mostly and the stick... The tig was a bonus and I had never tried it before . Thought I had died and gone to heaven... a non violent process was just another world after decades of mig and stick… just a hobby welder now. The stick was what sold me... nice welds. The plasma is impressive and cuts thick 1/2" no problem and will hack it's way through 3/4". I'm still learning the tig process.

I bought an Everlast 251si about 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It's a little over 100 lbs with a 33lb spool and will run some thick material on 110v even thicker on 220v. I'd compare the power and quality to the Lincoln powermig256 except it does stick and Tig and is about $1000 cheaper plus 150lbs lighter. Go Everlast

I bought one after watching this vid! I didn't think a machine existed that was multi and had AC tig, and 2 gas ports!!! It even comes with the pedal, and the touch switch that I haven't seen on others I looked at. I found it weird that there's no tungsten supplied with it but there's everything else for the torch. Remember, if it sounds like your "cooking bacon" your doing good. My first welder, bought back in 1974 when I was 18 for $49.99 and was a Lincoln 220 "buzz box." Later on I picked up a used Miller 250 AC/DC-HF Tig metallic syncrowave that came with the four roller industrial mig unit and stick leads....it welds great, but is heavy to move around and it's hard to find parts for as it was made around 1966...plus the cable to amp indicator is broken and I just "crank by feel," then look at the weld & adjust. My next welder is a Hobart 160 AC/DC stick which I recently hooked up my Tig to....works ok, but not like the Miller. Since Harbor Freight came in five years ago I've been looking at other options than the high dollar machines. This machine looks awesome.

For stock mode can you when jumping from 6010 to 7018 can you just crank amps up and down instead of navigation menus and rod time selection. Basically in the field for pipe welding you want a simple adjustment. For example telling an apprentice to turn up the welder is fairly simple but having them navigate menus well they could asily mess it up or "need help" which would be annoying. Thanks

I'm a Boilermaker. We do a lot of scratch start Tig welding, so we don't have any pedal. In fact, I've never used a peddle, so it always sort of perplexes me why people use them so frequently. I understand it's to control your heat, but you always have the option of moving faster, or adding more metal, or weaving, or simply stopping and waiting, without a pedal, so why are they so popular?
@robbieburns1664
@robbieburns1664 4 жыл бұрын
A pedal is good for welding thinner materials. Better control for starts and tapering down stops, crater filling, etc. It would be hard to weld razor blades together or aluminum cans without a pedal. Likewise and more on the practical side, guys doing a lot of custom detail work with an aim for spectacular cosmetic appeal, e.g., some of this custom aluminum intake manifold work available. You can do a lot with only scratch start, like what you do and what is done a lot in the field, but a pedal does have certain advantages in the shop. I've used both methods. Today I wouldn't buy a tig machine sans pedal.

@@chucksgarage7165 Yes, it is an entry level. But I've had new other brands solenoids stick, usually from debris getting into the solenoid from rust in the tank or moisture in the Argon mix. The good news is that they are completely serviceable and the 200E can usually be customer fixed rather than sending it in. The solenoids can be cleaned out and even "renewed" with little effort. A single board design makes repair quick and easy. Sounds like it just needs a good cleaning out. You can also install a dryer inline. Jody form Welding tips and tricks showed people how to build one a few years back because it is a real problem in certain areas of the country.

@@chucksgarage7165 If the units did not hold up, there's no way Everlast could offer a 5 year warranty for the past 12 years. And if we didn't stand behind our warranty terms, Everlast would have a lot more complaints. BTW, all companies have complaints and problems if you look for them, similar complaints, and similar issues. A lot of warranty problems stem from customers failing to read the terms of the warranty and expect Everlast to deliver something outside of the stated warranty. Everlast's terms and warranty are easily found on the website, and stated very plainly. If they do not want to follow the warranty terms, or the process of contacting customer support before sending it is on them. Just follow the directions, and the warranty goes pretty smoothly. When appropriate, Everlast even can ship a replacement part out rather than ship it in on many models that have gone digital or gone to a single board design and can save downtime. But again, just following the directions and terms outlined in the warranty goes a long way. Most complaints are by people who don't follow the basic process and want to jump ahead without going through basic diagnosis over the phone, or warranty repair process.

@@Factory400 Even when assembled in USA, many parts and boards come from good ole Cathay. I am new to welding (searching for the right machine for my restaurant, farm and other low grade repair, etc, needs) but I have observed things in this profession on line and in conversation with experienced welders, for a long time, and it seems to me that tech upgrades are often more frequent and cutting edge in the direct from China machines. Reliability does seem to be a big concern. I am looking hard at how companies handle customer service when things DO (and they will) go wrong. What are their return policies, cost of consumables, etc, etc? Learning all the time, and I appreciate forums like this one, a lot!

You showed this 225 machine welding with 6010 Stick. The EL site where the 225 and 275 specs are compared to the Miller 220 and ESAB 205, does NOT show the 225 as 6010 capable, only the 275. Granted EL is no standout for accuracy/grammar/completeness with regard to their site and its documentation, but that would be a big miss. Comment?

So, the shot of the 7018 chipping slag is not the same bead as the cleaned up shot, look at the end of the weld, it's about 1/2" from the end of the joint with slag, then cleaned up it's to the very end of the joint. Might want to double check your edits.

dREaDneckFab: Also, the initial comments by the channel (click on "...more" on the left side) refer to the machine being reviewed as the model 275 instead of the actual 225 reviewed here, apparently recycled a bit too fast from that review 😮.

Yes She: warranty is only 90 days on HF machines, 20% restocking if you return, expensive add on warranty cost (a guide to what they think of reliability, maybe?). Northern Tool has some good deals, their brands and others. Looking hard at Everlast, for sure. But there are many many cheap welders on Amazon, some might say a jungle. Mind your bucks and study hard.

Also, do your comparison shopping. Some things at HF are deals--for example I just bought 2 ground clamps at HF (to use on my battery charger--much better than the typical sissy OEM clamps) for HALF the cost of the same ones at NTool. Shop, learn and save.

If you are a mobile tech, have fun lugging around 4 different machines depending on the job. I'll take a multiprocess machine for that. Plus, Everlast also has a bunch of single process machines for cheaper, you just pay more for the convenience of having it all in one box.
