The main problem with indian marriage system is that in-laws want to govern the life of their daughter in law according to their will. They don't think her as separate individual of certain dreams and aspirations . They think that she has some duties towards themselves and she has to fulfill thag anyhow even by killing her own aspirations

I think what you said is right, but its not right if you do not contribute under the same roof. If you want to live like a guest in the house then it would not work. I have seen womens literally break the families because they cannot understand that they need to pay for their own zumba classes(or some activites). Parents of the boy have the same right as the wife, so husbands need to be respected. If you are living away in a seperate house means you are taking care of you own. Do as much zumba classes or for boys do binge parties as much as you feel doing. Not in a family home.

I can totally relate with this. 99% of the times, reason for a couple's misunderstanding and fight will be in-laws. Its better to build a boundary around us and our spouse and keep parents out of it. It reduces alot of fights between couples.

I got married 3 years back and since day 1 my in laws are controlling our lives and my husband never speak for what is wrong, I have been suffering and as a result I am always sick even now when I am pregnant I am hospitalised from last 11 months on and off because my father and mother in law had made my life hell just because of their married daughter who wants to control our life. These things never stop until you get separated that’s what I have learnt. Because the more you speak the more disturbance they create.

To all husbands who asks their wives to leave house should also ask their mother to leave as well. Because she also came as a daughter in law at the first place. If you wife has no right to live in the house then neither does your mother! Respect women and men equally! And the karma will do the same to your daughter/sister. Karma will hit you and your mother in some way for sure if you exploit an innocent girl!!

Very good message. I have seen that girls leave matrimonial home because mother in law/ sister in law did not like certain things and husband did not take her side. It is not easy for a husband to reprimand his elders, particularly mother. Not complaining/ discussing about each other's in laws is a good advice.

Actually parents have got no role in their children's marital life. Couples after their marriage should sort out their issues by themselves instead of escalating the matter to the parents. If parents start intervening married life is over. Especially for ladies who leave their parents house and live with husband's parents.

Yep. Parents are not suppose to interact with their children's married life. But advice is all OK to take but how true and whether it is to be done or not is all what you and your other half must look about it. Parents will advice you about family planning but it's the couple that must sit together talk, think and execute it.

On my opinion Best solution- 1. Don't marry at all! 😀 Just stay single earn a good lifestyle take care of your parents and help others in the society who are in need. 2. If anyhow you wanna marry, stay together for first few months, then get back to your parents place, help and serve your parents earn a good living keep your parents happy and you can meet each other whenever you are free. Then there's no way of having a fight and problems if you stay like this♥️

The best thing is that the man in the story is not egoistic and reached out first. Parents will always be insensitive and insecure when their kids have spouses to carry tho lives with. Just think , another wife or a husband the plot of the story will be the same , in laws are not changing the attitude they have . Be wise don’t part from each other. You are together because of God’s will , love each other and communicate.

Only solution to this is parents should ask their children whether boy or girl to become independent and live on their own after a certain age(which is 18+ in western countries)..and they should not differentiate between sons and daughters..this is the root cause of all problems happening..they shd equal oppurtunity n rights to both son n daughter..be it education, household work, earning money,etc..if girls are financially independent they wd never be homeless or disrespected by anyone if such fights happen after her marriage..all i am saying there should be gender equality in true sense..raising kids, doing household all household chores isnt responsibilty only of a women..and earning money shouldnt be responsibilty of only men..both shd do both..they both can be independent in all senses and all teach their kids right from childhood be it girl or boy..all i want to say is there shd be gender equality in true sense..

Though a husband , I don't hesitate to say that the husband's parents have big role in it . (1) They should allow the new couple some privacy , whether at home or outside , so that they can share some beautiful times with each other .(2) The husband's parents should not object on the daug in law' small things , like western dress etc .

I have always felt that couples should solve problems on their own which they can. If they are having difficulty with some major issue then that can be discussed, and understanding and support should be mutual.

Solution looks simple on screen. In real life Indian parent especially moms simply cant stay out of their sons life. Mom feels the daughter in law is snatching away her little boy from her. Jealousy.

The thing is that the parents always thinks that there child is good in every instance without they think that he can be also wrong they always blame others and disregard the other one just only bcoz she or he came from another family or other child 🙄

Fights are related to men's parents not women's parents usually. Here too the husband is so abusive as to asking her to get out.
My husband favors his mother and keeps scolding me.
