Cowboy Baked Beans!
• Cowboy Baked Beans
Thank y’all for stopping by! Don’t you hate it when someone serves you beans right our of the can?! Now I’m not against canned at all, but you got to give them a little more love to make it good. We’re showing you our recipe for cowboy baked beans using chili beans and pork and beans for the base along with some chipotle peppers to spice it up. Stick around for this classic baked bean recipe.
Enjoy the video and leave questions or comments below.
Cowboy Baked Beans
Makes about 10- 12 servings.
6 slices, thick cut bacon
1 (26 oz) can Ranch Style or Chili Beans
1 (28 oz) can Pork ‘n Beans
1 (7 oz.) can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, chopped
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 - 1 ½ tablespoons yellow mustard
1 ½ - 2 cups light brown sugar
1/2-1 cup BBQ sauce
1. Cut the bacon into 1-inch pieces. Add to a skillet and cook over medium-high heat until about ¾ done. Set aside.
2. Using a colander, drain the juices from the beans. Add to a 12-inch Dutch oven.
3. Stir in the chipotle peppers, to taste. Stir in the onion, mustard and brown sugar and BBQ. Adjust taste, if needed.
4. Cook over coals until the mixture reaches a boil, let simmer a few additional minutes and the mixture thickens just slightly. Serve warm with a slotted spoon.
Note: If cooking in the house use an 11x13-inch casserole dish. Cook at 350 degrees F. for about 30 - 40 minutes.

I still make baked beans using my grandmother’s recipe which is nearly identical to this with the exception of the bbq sauce. Instead of bbq sauce, I use molasses and some chunked or crushed pineapple and juice for that sweet and tang to go with the chilis. Now I’m going to have to go see if I have all the ingredients on hand to make it!

Wow! Reminds me of my childhood. When our elders cooked on wood & coals outside the house at festivals & special occasions. Slaughtering a goat or sheep and always the regular few chicken were on the menu. I never really got to enjoying the food because when you're a kid, food is an interruption to all the fun you were supposed to be having. Because now you have to sit & finish your meals. I'm from India & I love Mr Rollin's videos & his dance moves. Wish I was as joyful as he is all the time. 💜GB

I make mine similar. I have tried all kinds bbq sauces and keep going back to regular kraft. Its cheap and a little thicker. I also love to add a smoked sausage that I brown with bacon, onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Add green chilies and fire roasted tomatoes . Although I have never used pork and beans or baked beans probably will soon. My family aways used used dark and light red beans. Jalapeño cornbread and that right there as my daddy used would say “that’ll put hair on your chest boy” . I really have enjoyed watching yalls videos for years here in central Alabama. I tried this recipe and you are right these are not boring beans! I have never tried the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, but it does give it a wonderful kick. I am very happy the way these beans turned out.

Hello Kent. This was the very first video I ever watched of you all those years ago. My husband and I loved you from then on. We even traveled all the way to Ohio last summer to meet you and Shannon at Lehman’s. We have both your cookbooks and several other items from your website, including your seasonings. Thank you for all your wonderful videos. We look forward to Sundays and Wednesdays! We’ve even started using many of your favorite sayings like “cheesy goodness” and “Just the right amount.” Congratulations on 2 million subscribers!

I make these in my smoker in a cast iron skillet. I put the skillet on the bottom rack underneath whatever meat I'm smoking (ribs, brisket, pork butt) so the drippings fall in the skillet. OMG best beans ever, nice smokey flavor and this recipe is fantastic!

Hi Kent. Your baked bean recipe is one of our favorite. I printed it out and we enjoy it on most family get togethers. The last time I ran short of light brown sugar. So instead I substituted dark brown sugar. It changed the whole character of the dish for the better. The blackstrap molasses or whatever it is they put in dark brown sugar made a big difference. May I humbly suggest you give it a try.
