If the original show could be one season, then there is zero reason not to make the remake fit all the original episodes into one season; aside from that the writers didn’t *want* to. Which they didn’t. Netflix writers are known for not wanting to stick to the source material. Look at the Witcher. It only stayed as true as it did because Henry had pull with the producers and was able to essentially bully them into staying at least somewhat on course. And even he left eventually cuz of how much they had started changing things and how much MORE they wanted to change it.

Bebop is my favorite anime. It's genuine, real, funny, happy, sad; but most importantly its somber. It will make you cry and smile at the same time. The live action was just jokes. They were to scared to touch on any of the emotions that made bebop timeless and loved. It boggles my mind how 2d cartoons can make me more emotional than actual live people.

I wasn’t mad at the Netflix adaptation cuz I went into it with no expectations, I honestly wanted to see where they were gonna go with it. cowboy bebop is one of my favorite anime’s and I need more of it, even if it’s a whole different universe at least it’s something similar, there’s no other anime that gives you the feeling cowboy bebop does and for Netflix to give you a glimpse of that feeling was enough for me.

Netflix destroys everything they touch. Story ended completely different and I ended up hating every character. They were all so detached from the original that it really wasn’t at all the same. They obviously had to do something different from the anime otherwise it would still fall flat, but this was even worse. When was Faye ever outed as a lesbian?!?!

I hear you to an extent, maybe it would've been nice in the original to know more about the syndicate, or have Vicious fleshed out more etc...but honestly, sometimes less is more. You can say it's shallow or surface-level writing, but I think Watanabe gave us exactly what we as an audience needed to see with the characters and the world they were in. I don't think Bebop was meant to be a deep exploration of lore like other works of fiction.

A big shame considering the actors and the director tried so hard to capture the essence of the show. It has flaws but an interview with the man who played Vicous really shows how hard they tried. "Take after take for this one part of the fight scene. Any time even one hair was out of place. We would shoot it again. I was so tired by the end of that day."
