What’s agonizing about this lone win is they would have played at home in the NFC Championship had the Falcons beat Washington. Detroit was undefeated in Domes. The Super Bowl was in the Metrodome that year.

@@boogitybear2283 they weren't beating Washington no matter what. The Redskins had crushed them 45-0 with Peete as QB and then followed it up with another 42-10 loss. @@redmustangredmustang That’s insane. The Championship game is actually shown on that Bit chute site. It’s crazy that the Lions were down only 17-10 at the Half, but their second half was a disaster. To be fair, that Redskins team is easily a top 5 team all time. They very well might be the best team ever. From start to finish that season, they were the best team in the game. They had 0 weaknesses. Sure that lost two games, but even the 84 49ers and 85 Bears lost 1. Their defense was unreal and their offense was so balanced and efficient you couldn't just key in on them. Those were also the days where the Redskins were a great team year in and year out.

The Lions were a Cinderella team in 1991. They hadn’t had a winning season since 1983 and had just two playoff appearances in the Super Bowl era prior to 1991. After losing 45-0 on opening day to Washington, the Lions won five straight and were 5-1. After bad losses to San Francisco and Chicago the Lions stood at just 6-4 and looked much more like a pretender than a contender. The turning point was when their Guard Utley had a career ending injury in a game against the Rams in Week 12. From that game on forward to the Lions won six straight to finish 12-4 and managed to steal NFC Central from the Bears who had led it until the final week of the season. The Lions won in different ways. Some weeks it was RB Barry Sanders tearing defenses apart, other weeks it was their defense led by LB Spielman, S Blades and NT Ball that caused trouble for offenses. Heading into the the Divisional playoffs, many were still not confident on the Lions as even Vegas had the Cowboys Lions Divisional playoff game in Pontiac as a pick ‘em. They couldn’t have been more wrong. The Lions tore Dallas apart and won their first playoff game since 1957. Unfortunately for the Lions they ran into one of the greatest teams in NFL history in the NFC Championship against the ‘91 Washington team (the same team that smoked them 45-0 on opening day). Although they only trailed 17-10 at halftime the Lions were just not able to keep up and lost 41-10. The Lions had a lot of hope after this game but could never make it back and are on 30 years without a playoff win and just one division title won in 1993. The ‘91 Lions were far from perfect but they had a lot of heart with some real talent. Had it not been for Washington the Lions would’ve probably beaten Buffalo in that years Super Bowl.

Only 2 Super Bowl appearances, and NO SB wins since 1995. Not that I'm complaining because I'm a Hawk fan and hate the 49ers (fans) after we got stuck with Ken F@cking Behring as owner in Seattle for nearly 10yrs. RIP Paul Allen 🌿✝️🌎🌤🏈
