Really amazing footage Dan. I thought for sure the raccoon would get busy on the coyote. And, it's amazing to see how high the coyote can easily jump.
@pepesylvia8483 жыл бұрын
The coyote totally faked leaving at the end, in hopes the raccoon would come down. This argues they can consider what another animal is thinking. Extremely intelligent canines.

@Naireu17 I don't know that cats will do this. I would have to see proof. All wild animals are pussies. Just like the biggest wolf. You can raise it from birth to be an attack or guard dog, but the second it feels threatened, it will flee. It's called survival instincts, and they're built into all non-domestic animals.
@kabverdterrasab71983 жыл бұрын
@@pepesylvia848 Some leopards do something similar. They play dumb around domestic dogs so they can lower their guard and they can catch them easily. They even fake running away so they can get chased and it's easier for them to catch the dogs. Some animals are pretty smart.

I've been servicing pools for 15 years in Scottsdale Az area and twice I've had clients who had coyotes jump there brick wall fences and kill and eat their dogs (dachshund and shitzoo). Both times the only thing the coyote left behind were the dogs heads. By law in Az pool fences must be at least 6 feet tall, so that tells you about their jumping skills.

@@Predation_records You are crazy bro. The biggest male coyote would not last more than 2 seconds in a fight with a female bobcat. The coyote is not fast enough or strong enough to face a bobcat. The coyote's only weapon is it's bite, and he is not able to get a bite in past those very fast, powerful paw swipes that would rip his face up in seconds. There is no video online of any coyote killing a bobcat, but there are many videos online of bobcats completely dominating coyotes. I have not seen any videos of a bobcat killing a coyote, but have seen many videos of coyotes crying from bobcat attacks and running for their lives. And the same thing happens when between a lone wolf and a lynx. No wolf or coyote wants any smoke from any adult wild cat. And of course a mountain lion will just straight up kill any lone wolf. And there have been times where mountain lions will fuck with bears.

They can and do go over a five or six foot fence very easily. We have lots of problems with coyotes here in So. California, and they have killed many pets in their own back yards.

Is he a true greyhound or smaller like an Italian greyhound? Because they use greyhounds to hunt coyote, don't underestimate your greyhound.
@willhorting53172 жыл бұрын
@@Acadian.FrenchFry yes greyhounds are used by many to hunt coyotes. (My dad and grandpa did between the '40s-'70s.) However it's not a coyote vs a single greyhound. It's always coyote vs 3-5 greyhounds. One on one, it's a 50/50 on whether the coyote or dog wins.
@Acadian.FrenchFry2 жыл бұрын
@@willhorting5317 This is true. I have seen those kinds of hunts. Also out here where I live they mix Pit Bull with Greyhound to create a lurcher with more fight it in. However, I have seen some really big powerful pure greyhounds that I think could take a single coyote on their own. I live in the West where our coyotes are not mixed with wolf. So they are smaller. In the Eastern states I understand they are mixed with wolves and are substantially larger and more powerful. So if you mean those coyotes I would agree that they are a much bigger threat than the smaller ones we have out here in California.
@willhorting53172 жыл бұрын
@@Acadian.FrenchFry I wouldn't know about so-called "eastern" coyotes. Nor, truthfully, about the coyotes in California. I am talking about the coyotes that live in Kansas. The average KS coyote is around 30lbs. And admittedly that is about half of the average greyhound. Which would convince many people that a single greyhound could easily take a coyote. What is not factored in, is: #1) greyhounds are fairly thin skinned; #2) while greyhounds are definitely athletes, their musculature and bone density is designed for sprinting. Not fighting/physical confrontation; #3) a coyote's hair helps make it difficult for a dog to inflict enough damage... unless the dog can hold it down while clamping down on the coyote's windpipe with it's jaws; #4) coyotes are built for fighting and endurance. Shorter, but more muscular than the greyhound; #5) the coyote also has a LOT more tenacity than the average greyhound. As I stated in my previous comment, I am a 3rd gen coyote hunter. Have been around some of the best bred (non-racing & non-show) hunting greyhounds in the state. And I don't just mean those bred and raised by the family. On top of that, I have been a very successful coyote hunter for the past 50 years of my many years. Half of those years were spent chasing them. The last half has been by using hand calls (many I created myself)...... Sorry. Didn't intend to toot my horn ....My point is that, anywhere in North America, regardless of coyote size, one-on-one against the average coyote, I firmly believe (based on experience) that even the best greyhound or even greyhound mix would stand no more than a 50/50 chance of overpowering that coyote...... Granted this is only an experienced based opinion......If I have misunderstood you, I am sorry.
