I had a career of producing television programs, specials, movies and special events. I had the great pleasure of following a family of three grizzly bears for seven months, from the time they exited the den until they disappeared up the mountains to den up again. I witnessed incredible strength along with caring tenderness.

You reminded me of an experience with black bears, at Hidden Lake Campground, in Alaska. We had just finished air frying some halibut and not 15 minutes later 2 black bears showed up. I was so happy we were the only ones on that campsite level. On more normal days, there would be kids biking around, people out in tents and just out. I guess you just have to be prepared. What scared me was the number of children running, and biking around, not paying the slightest attention. We had many bears go through camp, including a mom with cubs. Never let your guard down. I wore bear spray all day, and finally took it off, as we were on our way back to the trailer, after a long day. The sun had set, fog had rolled in, and I just had to take a few shots of the scenery in foggy low light. I took the pictures and got back in to the truck. My husband said to me, "Is that a bear behind us?" Yes it was, not 15' away.

My Great Uncle owned IP Bills Island in Island Park . We had an OG cabin on the lake growing up . Friday nights we woul go into West Yellowstone and watch the grizzlies rummage through the dump. The cowboys would come off the ranches and get drunk , taught the bears and run back into their trucks. Hunted , fished, floated , hiked , skied most of that tri state corner. Did many winter trips into the park on skis and “snow machines” In the 60’s. Last visited 2004 . We never had issues with bears as there just wasn’t that many people . Moose , that’s a whole different story. Happy trails, thanks for the trip back in time.

Yellowstone is truly one of the beautiful places on this continent that we are privileged to be able to visit with our camping trailer. And of course, nothing is better than a nice New York steak over the coals outdoors. Very relaxing video (except of course for the couple of minutes that recounted the misfortune one camper had with the Grizzly). Keep up the great work, and as always, safe travels.

I NEVER get tired of seeing Yellowstone, even virtually 😊 I'd been there more than a dozen times with family and it NEVER gets old to me! What a treat to see a grizzly. I remember one time my oldest brother strongly felt the need to go as close as possible to a grizzly and then when he and the bear locked eyes my oldest sist and I began to pray (I actually started to cry!) and all of a sudden, the bear stopped and began to walk in the other direction. True story and miracle! The bear was less than 50 ft. from our brother! He has NEVER gotten that close to a wild animal since! Plus, when we got home, we told mom and dad and they ripped him a new one, so that played a role I'm sure 😊 Thanks for sharing. I think I need to visit Yellowstone and Glacier Park soon again.

Great work, Cat! This reminds me of my own Yellowstone experience from 50 years ago . The morning of 6-6-74 dad and I awoke to 6" of snow blanketing the park. Quite a shock for a couple of south Texans! The best part was getting to see Old Faithful erupt with only a couple dozen other brave souls.

Yes, Catherine, that part of the country is magnificent! ❤. We also had a great trip in the fall (late September) during the elk rut. That was pretty special, too. We were full time for 3 years and decided to buy a house for more space…but quickly realized the mistake we made. We can’t afford to keep it and live on the road so we tried to sell it for two years but I guess we have to stay out because we didn’t get any interest, especially after we dropped the price. So strange! We finally took it off the market to do some work on not and try again another time. In the mean time, your channel helps to feed that part of me that needs to be out there.

Always enjoy your videos. Montana is a very beautiful state for sure. I was about 6 years old the first time I visited the Yellowstone area and the trash cans were the old metal style with the standard type lids. We were in a very small travel trailer and heard a Grisley rifling through a can right next to our spot. I remember my folks telling us to be still and quiet and he did move on in a few minutes. It wasn't long after that when they started chaining down the lids but that wasn't even good enough. Glad you are being safe out there.

Suggestion: Invest in steel rims for your truck. They are much more safe and not capable of cracking due to rough terrain. Do you carry an air inflator and a tire repair kit. Fixing a punctured tire is doable remotely and doesn't require you to remove the tire necessarily.

About 40 miles south of Jackson is Granite Creek Hot Springs. Beautiful Canyon , worth the drive from West Yellowstone. Great place to camp.

I have been so blessed in my lifetime. I’ve been to Yellowstone as a young child , teenager, wife, mother and grandmother, and it’s always amazing when I do go, thank you for the beautiful pictures the wonderful music, but you were really lucky. I’ve only seen a grizzly bear twice at a long distance. Stay safe and may God bless you.

Sure enjoyed this video! For about a dozen years I visited my cousin in Dillon, MT and was frequently in the West Yellowstone area. Getting too old to make the trip from California anymore. So, this video reminded me of how beautiful my MT trips were. Safe travels!

❤ GR8 VID ❤ LOVED IT ❤ Everytime I have visited Yellowstone it was during summer and the height of vacation season so there were always so many people and all the campsite were taken. I gotta find a way to stay in the area longer, including the Tetons.
