Seeing your nail polish in the video was a clear picture that you don't need to be a repairman to do it and LOVED the reference to "alcohol treatment,.necessary!" Awesome, Thanks for the tips, I'll be doing mine this week. Had no idea what to do.

This is the best explanation for installing a vent lid I've seen. Thanks for taking the time to make everything clear.

Hal Pinkerton hey man thanks! It’s been a while and I’ve since had my roof replaced and placed additional vent covers. Stay safe! wash your hands😀

Change the seal while your up there its usually just as old as the lid. Really simple too.

You don't need to take your screen,frame and mechanism all out just to clean it.

Where were you when I needed that advice haha

UNNECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!! None of the crank assembly should come off or any of the insides!!! Simply open half way. Go up top and slide old one off, new one on. Takes 2 minutes or less. The arm to raise it simply bends and slides thru hole.
@Karenwhitepaints7 жыл бұрын
Scott Wall Well that would have been a really short video!
@southard84925 жыл бұрын
I tried it your way and its impossible (for my camper anyway) because in order to slide the new lid on and have it match up to the hole on the arm.. theres no way to line it up whether you attach the arm first or slide the lid on first.
@joneisenberg78775 жыл бұрын
That's actually incorrect. You cannot slide off the existing vent cover without removing the crank slide arm from the slider bar. In order to do that, you have to remove the inner garnish, the crank handle (so you can remove the screen), the screen (so you can reach the slider arm), and then remove the crank handle assembly from its mount so you can remove the slider arm from the slider bar at the removal hole. Once that has been removed, THEN you can quickly slide the vent cover off and replace it, reattach the slider arm, and reassemble everything in reverse order.
@kevinstopper55014 жыл бұрын
Jon Eisenberg that’s right...I fought the same issue. The procedure Scott Wall refers to is a later type of vent not the Elixr type...this is the right way to do it here.
@markmoore42464 жыл бұрын
THEY MAKE THIS WAY HARDER THAN IT IS. JUST REPLACE THE COVER. ALL YOU NEED IS A PAIR OF NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS. IT IS THE SIMPLEST THING TO DO! TAKES TWO MINUTES IF YOU ARE UNSKILLED.
@ronnie40082 жыл бұрын
Why remove the frame? The vent is on the outside and slides right on after the old one has been removed.
@wendygerrish49642 жыл бұрын
Its really dumb but as far as I can tell, they made it this way-you have to remove the darned crank in order to fully lift the cover to the large 'O' to get the arm out so you can freely slide the cover off the hinge.
