Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. Cells separated by a V contain digits summing to 5. Cells separated by an X contain digits summing to 10. All possible Vs and Xs are given.

Great puzzle. I've tried a number of different types of sudoku, but I don't remember encountering an XV one. Yours would have to be the ultimate XV Sudoku. Really creative and fun.

I started watching videos on this channel maybe a couple of weeks ago, but (even if it took me 79:02 to finish it) this is the first puzzle I solved without needing any help from the video! Woo!

This was a lovely puzzle, and completely approachable, even for someone like me who won't usually even bother trying a puzzle if Simon or Mark take more than about 35/40 minutes! It's like a masterclass in negative constraints. Brilliant.

Yes indeed, and it reminds me of the dotless kropki puzzle by Phistomefel (although there is also a bit of positive information in this Louis XV puzzle).

@@geli95us That video is called "The NEW Miracle Sudoku", date 30 december 2020, and the puzzle is called "Dotless Kropki Sudoku X" by Phistomefel. :-) And of course, there are also some CtC videos in which all clues are deliberately wrong (a.k.a. "wrogn"), so that is also a negative contraint in some sense.

This is the first puzzle I've actually paused and solved myself, and I loved it! I actually got the giggly feeling Simon seems to have when all of the notes suddenly unravels. I've played through all of the apps (usually with heavy hint usage from around 7 stars and up), but I've never ventured into actually trying the channel puzzles. I guess I have to give them a shot when they are "approachable".

I doubt it. I think it was just there to add color to the fake backstory of how Louis XV was the creator of XV sudoku.

Yeah, when I saw this one I definitely laughed so hard at it because I was like “huh, wut is this”, and it’s one of the most unique things that I’ve enjoyed so far :D

What a hoot! I started it without realising there was a negative constraint, so only got so far before getting stuck. Once I spotted the constraint, everything just fell into place. The artwork is both hilarious, and very cunning. The wikipedia page on Louis XV needs to be updated with this revelation.

Whenever my solve time is below twice that of Simon's, I consider it a success. Today I have just about managed that with 26:46 so happy days :)

First digit got put in at 11:32 and the last one at 24:39 so the difference is 13;08.. double that you got 26;16... you got close tho

I kept making stupid errors early on, which meant restarting several times. Took 71:49! But very much enjoyed watching Simon solve it once I’d done it myself, seeing where he easily avoided the mistakes I’d repeatedly made throughout... *rolls eyes*

As someone new to the hobby, this is very approachable. I think could easily be part of the GAS series. Really fun solve. And a nice surprise for someone like me that usually takes hours with help to finish these single puzzles.

Apart from the wittiness, I also liked this puzzle because it was actually approachable even for me. It was the first time I managed to solve a sudoku on this channel all by my self. I didn't do it with the speed or elegance of Simon of course, but it was really funny. And then I got to enjoy Simon solving it. A lovely experience in every way.

For the first time ever, I've beaten a sudoku from this channel! An embarrassing couple of days' work (must've been a couple hours of work overall), with a little bit of logic hidden in plain sight from the video whenever I got stuck, but hey! A victory is a victory! Very happy, my first ever non-basic sudoku :)

Really nice concept (and the v/x hunt in the picture was entertaining). XV with a negative constraint usually leads to approachable puzzles that are fun to solve, and this was no exception.

Wow what a puzzle! This is the first sudoku I've ever attempted because of the short vid length and after seeing the beginning, I had to give it a try. 94 minutes later I did it! So much fun to then watch Simon buzz through in just 15 minutes!

19:58 for me. That was really enjoyable, both the clue in the drawing (which I unfortunately didn't get, thinking it was all negative constraint) and the actual solve. Not too far off Simon's time, either; I'm feeling quite happy with that.

having completely missed the negative constraint, I got mightily stuck mighty fast (it's a great way to double your solve time!). after spinning my wheels for 15 minutes, I remembered to reread the rules. wonderful puzzle, Filuta, and a quite funny intro, thanks.

the JOY when i solved this with no help!!!! it took me exactly 59:59 and im very amazed i kept it under an hour. i spent a good amount of time, probably at least 10 minutes, wondering where to start before i realized how painfully obvious it was. i’ve also been playing non-consecutive sudoku a bit and i kept thinking “i can’t put 2 here because it’s next to a one” and then remembering that isn’t a rule in this puzzle haha

A very enjoyable puzzle to solve, given how much the negative constraint plays a part. It's really easy to remember to look for the negative constraint when it's coming up as useful every 2 or 3 moves!

this puzzle looked really fun and a bit easier than usual so i decided for once i wasn't going to give up, and i actually managed to solve it on my own! it took me 116 minutes because i got it wrong on the first try but i actually did it and i'm incredibly proud of myself, this is the best feeling in the world! first time i've ever been able to solve one of these i'm on top of the world

The algorithm did good today, recommending this for me. I understand the concepts well enough to follow along with the video, but I've never gotten into Sudoku. Still, this was a fun video to follow along with, as I enjoy the clever context puzzle stuff. The drawing killed me. lol

I loved this solve! Challenging and neat logic, but not monstrously hard. I've been getting better at sudoku, thanks to this wonderful channel, so I managed a solve time of 13:13!

I solved one by myself (well only after you figured out the X's and V's)! Like I said for one of Mark's videos, I took about four times as long to solve it as Simon which shouldn't be very surprising because for most puzzles the factor (time for me to solve it divided by Simon's time) is infinity.

Brilliant, it was cleverly set up but also approachable enough for a beginner like me. I just watched the video though. I didn't realize until it was too late I could have done this myself :P
