How To Cut Basswood with Cricut Maker

Have you ever wondered how to cut basswood with the Cricut Maker? How about any other wood with the Cricut Maker? When I first got mine I was super excited to be able to cut all the things, but once I started watching tutorials on how to do it I got scared! I spent good money on the knife blade and I for sure did not want to break it. So it took me well over a year to finally try it and I am so happy I did!
PS Ignore the part for the time lapse, it's not there!

I just tried this, brand new knife blade and machine. It's not cutting through. I'm wondering why? It almost engraves it because it's not cutting through. I've already tried with several pieces of cricut basswood :(

Did you calibrate the knife blade yet? If not give that a try, if it doesn’t help I would call Cricut because it could be a pressure thing.

my cricut maker 3 is only cutting half way though the cricut basswood! so frustrating!!! I used a brand new knife blade that I bought yesterday

What material do you use for picture puzzles? Thanks

You could use basswood, but you can’t iron on pictures to those so I would recommend a sublimation puzzle.

@@CraftingUnedited thanks. I need to actually start using my Maker. Need to get a sublimation printer and knife blade. So how do you print on basswood or do you print on paper and glue it on? Thanks

@@cathy3864 if you wanted to print onto basswood you would print a picture (I would use sticker sheets for an easier stick) then apply it to the basswood then cut. I don’t know exactly how it would work but I feel like it’d be good. My only concern would be the sticker paper peeling up after a few passes on the Cricut. The other option you could try would be to start cutting the basswood and when it’s almost done run the same cut with the paper on it. Does that make sense?

@@CraftingUnedited I am confused now. So what material is used for a sublimation puzzle? Looking for a new printer to make them. I have 4 printers and don't believe any of them will work. 😊

@@cathy3864 lots of people use epson eco tanks. Cheap and an easy convert. Instead of using the ink it comes with you just filling with sublimation ink, get A4 sublimation paper and you’re ready to go! I will eventually be getting this and doing tutorials on it as well.

Hello, why thank you for your advice. However, my channel is for learning for all. Not just people who know what they are doing. Crafting in general is a creative world. In the end my project worked out. I taught how to fix issues and struggles I had while on video and didn’t edit out the mess ups. I never edit out my mistakes or really any parts of my videos. That’s what my channel is all about my dear! Learning as you go and teaching how to fix mistakes. I greatly appreciate your support by watching and commenting on my videos!
