If you cut this video off bc he added some music to a video he did a great job equalizing the voice over to overcome the music then possibly you should just wing it yourself and not watch this repair being done which clearly was better then others I’ve watched. I saw a guy hack his plastic cover and make a custom plate to let the fan direct the air back to the motor. As well as remove the line to the tank Unnecessarily as he just moved the head to the side as shown here. Spot on man my kit is coming in the mail tomorrow and I’m glad i watched this looks like 10 mins of work 👊🏼. My compressor will get to max psi but take about 30 mins doing so. It helps if I build pressure to 40-60 psi then turn it off and let it go again it’s maybe 20 mins instead. Still this is no way to have a compressor run as these are extra noisy. The faster it can get up to max psi the better. I’ve also had to replace my drain nut on the bottom of the tank. It had a load and I mean a load of junk inside it brown ish color from backing up. I kicked the compressor on with no nut to free it up and boy did it make a mess however I saw no other way to get it unclogged as bad as it was. New drain nut and she’s back in business. Don’t want this tank rusting out from the inside very dangerous as I’m sure it already did some damage from previous owners neglect. People asking where to get parts no not from craftsman they discontinued parts but it’s a common part between hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of compressors. Part number for kit is k-0650. It’s the same for my 60 gallon tank make sure the bearing on the connecting rod isn’t bad as well while your in there. I really like the slide to the side head move with the air line staying on. Pretty clutch time saver and using the extension bit with a driver to get the deep screws out of the cover. Rock on man. With videos like this it helps anyone feel good about going inside and doing what seems very daunting. It’s truly not -KZfaq master mechanic knowledge is power. One other thing is it’s good to clean up the reeds in that plate that open and close to allow pressure through. Spend a few mins making sure those are tip top clean and Alittle lube on piston ring and seals. Hands down best video I’ve seen on this rebuild process. For this I thank you good sir.

@@HomeGaragechannel i had to knock out the riveted gaurd over the low pressure reed. I then flattened the original reed and put a slight bend in it towards the valve plate. Drilled two knew holes and bolted in the reed with custol metal tabs going from the bolts over the reed. I then slightly spun the sleeve and manually worked the piston till i found the spot with less resistance. I fixed the leaks and cleaned out the check valve. It ran good and built pressure till the h.p reed broke. Fini airattack compressor is a piece of junk. But ill get it running. Thanks

Wonder why in your description you say *Not so simple fix Rebuild pump* If you have the right parts and 15 minutes, if that, and should be done. I found it very easy to work on. Made one hell of an improvement getting from empty tank to 130 psi. >NOTE - Feel the top of the tank when it shuts off. That is HOT, so as it cools, pressure will drop ~10 psi over a couple of hours. I've had mine for +20 years and always leave in the On position, so there is always air without having to start from zero. It'll drop pressure down to 90psi over a week and comes on for around 90 seconds and shuts off at 130 psi. Aside for being very noisy, it's been a really good compressor.

My compressor starts working and builds pressure up to 150psi but sometimes during work it will not start and won't keep tank charged. Sometimes it turns on only for a few seconds then goes quiet. Sometimes I hears something that it wants to start like air going somewhere through the pipe for about 2 second and then quiets and stays like that. Fails to keep up pressure in tank when I use it. Pressure goes low as 50psi but compressor doesn't start. Then I had to open drain valve to release remaining air pressure in the tank. Disconnect it from AC power for few minutes and it starts working again build up to 150psi again. I don't hear any air leaks. What could be wrong??
