Captain of a team should be selected based on one of the criteria: dedication and how hard they work on and off the pitch, charisma, and respect of other players, their undisputed quality on the pitch. Maguire has zero of those qualities.

The fact that Dalot is rated a 6 is abysmal, he is alright attack wise but he is a defensive liability and play alongside Maguire who is just as bad with no balance, no pace, no defensive awareness, poor first touch the list goes on.

Everybody blames McFred but I feel Bruno empties the midfield leaving the team open to counter attack. The team is so disjointed its unbelievable. The players do seem to be broken, and that's why Ragnick said ten players were needed, and that's why a hard reset was needed. The owners of United never spend big when it's needed. They'll sign a player for 70 million now and again, but the owners of City, Chelsea and even Liverpool go out and get the players when necessary.

Why they got rid of Ragnick is beyond me. Ten hags biggest mistake was allowing him to leave. Ralph knew all these problems before Ten Hag even stepped through the door so for him to believe Ralph was incapable is on him.

They've finally hit the nail on the head. The Glazers is a far wider issue, but the players' lack of confidence and application is the biggest problem. Most of these players were part of the team which finished 2nd in 2020, and you don't finish 2nd in EPL if you are not talented. Maguire is an established international, Shaw was the best left back in England in 2020, Bruno was excellent during his first year, Rashford was such a threat when he burst into the scene, Sancho was a superstar at BD. The fact that all of these players are not playing even 50% of what they have done in the past is baffling.

Its amazing how much of an affect Ferguson had on the club. This si why a passionate manager is so important. I think the problem is so systemic now at Man Utd, that no manager can really fix this. Ten Hag is a good manager and he deserves to be at a different club where he could showcase his managerial talents. Its a poor move for him. He should leave ASAP as I think the season will get worse.

I have followed Manchester United since the Matt Busby glory days of Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law and George best, through the Alex Ferguson glory days of Giggs, Beckham, Rooney, Keene, Scholes, Cantona and up until today. Apart from the management quality of Busby and Ferguson, there are two common denominators of these Era’s that today are missing, (1) the number of world class players, and (2) a foundation of quality players sourced and developed through the club’s youth academy. In my view we have the right Manager but the strategy of just going out and buying players is not in itself the solution. The club needs a 5 to 10 year plan to rebuild from the ground up and the inside out, this includes the ownership, the stadium, the financial resources and the youth academy to develop players that would go through a brick wall for United.

Truth be told, the brentford players just needed to turn up and honour the fixture to get the three points.

I find it bizarre that all these guys have slagged off Arsenal for years, rightly in most cases, but they turned it around by getting rid of executive who spent badly and whose intentions were maybe self serving, got rid of problem players, got a young manger with something to prove and stuck with him, stated their intention to focus on youth moving forward and to install a strong work ethic and kindred spirit to produce good attacking football. How is this not getting a mention of a blueprint. Arsenal are now 2 years ahead of United in the ‘big fix’ and it deserves some credit.

Normal training then "special" training in the evening consisting of either further physical stuff, video study, or specialised training focused on weaknesses. No more going home after training and doing whatever they do. If they get sick of it and stop coming then *boom* pay docked. 5 minutes late? Pay docked.

Speaking to friends who are utd fans they blame the bad recruitment, and the glaziers but most of all the current players are just not good enough. They say there is no fight and some can not handle the pressure of playing for man utd. and what is most daming most of the players just don't care I'm not a reds fan but I genuinely feel sorry for those fans.

For all Man Utd fans saying ESPN is just picking on your club... do you not see what everbody else does? it's beyond embarrasing and honestly I feel for you, it's not easy to sit trough a Man Utd game these days

I'm a Liverpool fan and even I pity man United. You guys put it right though. The soul of their players is gone. Best way to fix this, in my opinion, is to give greater chances to the young players that shone so brightly in pre-season. Those players are gems. Best performance I saw from a United player is the Hannibal boy last season against Liverpool. Those young boys have fire in their belly and would do well under Ten Hag.

Also .. I think most the players now know they are not really wanted and are gonna be sold so that’s effecting their effort levels / attitude .
