I'm male, and just came here to say Teal is 100% spot on here. I've been that guy she talks about. I also think it's worth remembering that the void in men that creates this behaviour is the exact same void that leads women to fall for it. In both cases, the answer is the same - to realise that nobody external will ever fulfil you, and you need to fulfil yourself first.

@@travelchannel304 What Teal is really describing here is the desire to 'get what you want, no matter the cost'. This is what the men that she is describing do (they want to get their woman to fall for them so they get the 'keep' her). But the issue at the heart of this behaviour is a lack of true and unconditional love, which can only ever be met by us ourselves. The men Teal describes will do what it takes to woo a woman, because they believe that's the only way they can experience true love. And this can only be fulfilled by fully loving the self. So it's essentially the same shadow (lack of self love/thinking love from someone else will fill the void) for both women and men.
@meghasanyal4861
@meghasanyal4861 10 ай бұрын
Makes sense getting what you want no matter the cost. Both are paying extreme costs to het what they want but no one is going the direction of self love. Can it be also the naivety of a person that they do it because the want is to share the love they have instead of a void? They just don't know the big bad scary world out there and trying to give at all costs? Or probably that giving at all costs is codependency. Not sure just thinking out loud.

Facts! I tell my sisters the same thing. I think a lot of it will manifest itself into guilt. All those lies and deception ruins them from within. At least with women, we process our feelings. Men don’t. Which I understand is because they’re built different. However, it doesn’t help them mentally. Then add the fact that they’re an imposter and lying to themselves. Its a perfect recipe for an early pre-mid life crisis. I’ve had men truly open up to me over the years and I’ve seen what it does to them. That’s why I exercise caution. Sometimes you gotta protect others from yourself, but also protect them from themself by staying away. The sad thing about this is they can take what could’ve been a great relationship and ruin it with self-sabotaging behaviors. It’s unfortunate that they tell women that we don’t know what we want in an attempt to conceal their own ignorance of what they want. I do believe you will get what you put out in the world.

Well said. Men and women have thier owm tactics and ways of power over etc, but we generally do it differently (in saying that, there are outliers on both sides). So pointing at 1 while being silent on the other merely creates disunity and frustration ( true femanism is the prime example I'm how it became such a movement because women were finally sick of being told what they are and how rhey should be). So it seems to me nobody has or wants to learn both sides and as such history is merely repeating but in a different way with a different gender being the target

Now that I crave no basic need, I actually am okay with being single and I really feel enough for myself even when my whole world turns its back on me, such a relief, I also became stronger than I could imagine which enables me to act more freely than I ever could... No longer needy. No longer lonely. And am truly happy for the first time in my life (my childhood was not great so while I was less depressed and was happy more I was also horribly emotionally unstable and had anger issuses. @@anomalousoddity So you’re halfway there, which is not that common for a feminist, but why do you still believe in this concept of “patriarchy?” I just don’t get it. This seemingly magical force has no real world backing in academia, it is not something measurable or ever really concretely defined/studied; it’s mostly used as an easy cop-out explanation for certain social issues in certain social media circles and ideologies. It’s lazy and easy to blame but does little examination. How is there not a matriarchy by the same logic? It’d just be some other form of power that women instead hold. Saying there’s a patriarchy seems to imply men have power and women don’t, which is just not true and I think silly to believe. Women really underestimate how much they drive male actions (and I suppose sometimes vice versa). In fact the whole feminist movement seems to greatly underestimate and still does not understand how much power women have, especially socially, and in different facets of society like motherhood/raising the next generations of children and how powerful that is. Forget even how much they influence men. This “myth of male power” I will call it (which is a great book) seems so pervasive in my opinion probably because men operate much more in the physical, which is more obvious, compared to women. Also the way the sexes operate, on average, I think has something to do with our perception of this. I mean if you can sit here and tell us that men contribute to a system of oppression called the patriarchy, how can you not also believe that women also help uphold and contribute to it, or something, that affects both women and men? I mean it’s gotta be the case and I know it is.

No, she was talking about how men will be whatever they have to "pretend" to be to get what they want out of a specific woman. It's not really who he is. He's just selling her a fantasy to get what he wants. This is probably 99% of male interactions with women. It's because man have two types of attraction. A purely physical attraction that's triggered when women portray themselves as purely physically attractive. And a purer attraction that causes us to view a girl as a potential mother of our children (which is very rarely triggered)...and most men, especially younger men or men who prefer to play the game run when they encounter this type of attraction.
