I said in the description of a video a coupel of weeks ago that I had set my personal record for time spent editing. Well, this one-- admittedly still a little rough around the edges-- blows that one out of the water. All in, this one is probably 30 minutes of production per minute of final product.
So I hope you all enjoy. If we're not trying new things, we're just making the same old same old. Gotta mix things up every now and again. Though I ma absolutely ready to head back to some bench videos at this point.

I really like the split screen comparison. This is becoming one of my favorite channels!

Once I figure out how to clean up the presentation (most of FCPX still baffles me) I can get some properly good looks at the lines.

Bravo!!! Between Regular Guy and Other Guy, this was a brilliant commentary of a match-off that was bound to happen! It took me a moment to figure the reason for Eddie's name, but not having seen a Strat with that pattern for a while, I can forgive myself... Rock on Eddie!🤘😁

Great job on this one, definitely a lot of edit and voice over work. I was skeptical of other guy but I warmed up to him. I saw the comment on the other video and I appreciate the EVH reference naming him Eddie. The Phoenicians are pretty evenly matched and are closer in performance than I might have expected.

Wow. C.C. To an entirely new level! 1) the new font of the channel is classic 2) I knew as soon as the straight axle came to market it would be part of the fleet 3) A casual competition between the two. That was obviously inevitable and most appreciated! 4) I thought Eddie would win. Being that he’s not as top heavy. 5) Two split screen. Loving it 6) I didn’t know you knew Madlib.. aka.. Lord Quas.. aka … Quasimoto!! Nice that he guested! Great video. Thank you!

Great comparison and competition. Looks like the Phoenix took the win! Could be the tires, but I was hoping to see the newly named Eddie do better! It is hard to beat a Phoenix with portals!

It’s been said that straight axles have a slightly lower center of gravity compared to portals in a n exact set up. I’ve also read that straight axles are more of a challenge for drivers and more scale for some! Would have been interesting to have the same tires on each or swap the wheels/ tires as each vehicles were tested. Still a very interesting comparison ….I’ve done similar tests with my rigs and I’m always intrigued with each performances ! Great editing and course …..

So, unfortunately, this video still doesn’t help me decide which one to get. They both seemed great. If you had to buy just one, will it be straight axle or would it be portal? Love the channel by the way, keep up the great work.

Portal. I'm starting to come around to the straight axle, but I just prefer the portal Phoenix. I mean, I do have three VFD-Twins on portals and just one on straight axles.

New Guy sounds like a "Greg" to me. New Guy Greg. Tusks do look like they're a bit better suited to the course than Landmines. Can't wait to see Argentum v. Eddie in the Spec Tire Shootout!

That was great fun to watch. I'm surprised by the name, Eddie. You'll have to elaborate on that. I can't but think of Cousin Eddie though.... They did very similarly, but really the ride height and overall height were pretty close. Keep up the good work!

The Gazoo-inspired paintjob also has a bit of Frankenstrat look to it-- which I think someone in a previous comment also picked up on, and suggested Eddie. Seems to fall inline with my apparent recent trend of just giving rigs "people names." I had similar feelings about the ride height-- side by side, their bellies are almost perfectly parallel. If not for abject laziness, I would like to bolt the 80mm Incisions from the portal on the straight axle-- which would lower the body significantly. But ugh, so many screws. Well that, and if it works, I would need new shocks for Argentum, and 80mm are few and far between.

Who did you piss off in the Google algorithm program? This is extra well done, funny, had three large vocabulary adjective deployments. Why haven’t more seen this. My taste in stuff is 97-99% spot on lifetime. I think you either ran over a dog or a bus full of babies, and have been black balled.

I remember an interview with Casey Neistat, where he basically said that the algorithm doesn't care about anything except quantity. The more you feed it, the more it will put you in the rotation. If I go two consecutive days without an upload, my "impressions" drops like 80%. The algorithm's theme song is "What Have You Done For Me Lately." So I just keep plugging away at it. Someday!

Excellent video!! I just jumped on the Black Friday deal on the straight axle with machined gears, it'll cost a fair bit to get it imported to the UK but still just about worth the deal. Now torn between having two Phoenix cab trucks or doing something different with one of them. I might stick a TRX4 Sport shell on the portal truck and move the FJ cab to the straight axle. Means I'll have a spare clear shell if I destroy the current one.

I have some sort of issue that prevents me from having two rigs with the same body. I don't know what it is. I bought the straight axle maybe two weeks before the slider came out (and also before they were giving away free machined gearsets) so I had to sell off the body and the wheels/tires. I love that Phoenix body, but theres no way I'm going to have two of 'em.
@tiborbeetles1882
@tiborbeetles1882 Жыл бұрын
@@CrawlerCanyon Yeah I don't really want 2 the same. You don't have a stock TRX4 sport shell do you? Wondering if the body mount holes could be made the same so that it could mount on both a Phoenix and TRX4 chassis and be interchangeable?
@CrawlerCanyon

@@tiborbeetles1882 Traxxas uses the "narrow spaced holes in the front, wide spaced holes in the back" on all of their bodies. So I had to modify it a little to work in the front, and I just drilled new holes in the rear and put stickers over the existing ones-- because as we know, Traxxas pre-drills everything. So it can be done, but it's not a "drop in" sort of thing.

Why does the straight axle have a 305mm wheel base? It's speced at 313 just like the portal.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Жыл бұрын
Fire whatever reason, that Sport body has a 305mm WB. So the rig was shortened to accommodate.

On whom? The two bodies are almost exactly the same weight, and the rear cage on a Phoenix, you might be surprised, weighs almost exactly the same as the cab. The big difference here is portal vs. straight axle.

I feel like we should've been reverse separated at birth because I have a similarly substantial amount of running consciousness diarrhea that flows from my food intake portal daily. So if your ever in the mood for a parasitic fraternal twin just like, comment, and subscribe. P.s. I don't mean that in a weird way like a human centipede or a really questionable tramp stamp...but more like a good looking yet benign kinda semi permanent way. Like in that Spice girls song...p.s.p.s. this was a satirical joke I actually have a healthy fear of thread.
