The cheapest and by far most interesting way of getting around in Guatemala is to take a chicken bus, an old American school bus that was exported, spruced up with some fresh paint / chrome and then used for public transportation in Guatemala. It's what the locals use to get around and one of our favourite Guatemala travel experiences and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
