It’s a shame they didn’t just use the John model in rdr 2 for the playable character instead they morphed Arthur’s model into Johns and made some kind of hybrid.

Unfortunately my friend, epilogue John is not using the original RDR2 john skull or head, so the face comparison will need to be completed more using Johns story model. Also in both games the horses run away when you attempt to mount (annoying asf) wether you're good to them or not

I’m sorry but Johns “aging” and “outfit” aren’t a detail. His epilogue model is a lazy reskinned Arthur with inflated clothes and broken facial animations as well as his hair. There’s nothing detailed about that

@@robogreek3157 In the epilogue his skills were as good as in rdr1. Just he didn’t have the ocassion to use them ad badass as he used them in rdr1. After the ending he became a family man and wasn’t a gunslinger again until rdr1. So his skills were kind of the same. Only in 1899 he was an amateur

It's the same old engine, with some tweaks I used in Xenia Canary: 60 fps, 16x anisotropic filter, disabled motion blur and depth of field, better post processing.

Carts didn't have suspensions. Rather, bent metal pieces to soften harder impacts, so in this scenario RDR2 is far more realistic

I agree with you, man! Also that's why Gta 4 is better than Gta 5. Gta 5 is a game that lacks suspension and physics. Gta 4 and Rdr1 are very similar.

The only thing I see wrong about rdr2 john is that he is taller than he should have been. The shoulders are pretty similar.

Because he uses Arthur’s model. Also wrong his shoulders are Arthur’s. They’re not at all accurate to npc, rdr1 or 1.00 John. His entire model is off and lazily made and broken

@@BeatleHarrison But if you follow the console tutorial you can be able to make his face and clothing look very similar to rdr1, you should keep him underweight and don’t constantly give him food, but the shoulders and that accurate haircut is pretty annoying that they aren’t in game and didn’t do John like he should’ve been done

You know i havent seen any version of rdr1 that really makes me think it looks much better than the original. Oddly enough it probably looks best on switch while playing hand-held. Even a High End gaming PC can't really change the fact the game is 13 years old and it needs to be rebuilt, But it's still a great game and a true masterpiece that gave birth to what i think os the greatest game ever made.. Thanks for putting in the work on the video.

@obsidiantime6310 Since then I started using Ryujinx too! It can run the game at 4K on my PC! The only downside is that it frequently drops below 60 fps. I will test it further and share the results in my next video!

RDR 2 is more photorelastic while RDR 1 is more cartoonish. One is more realistic in its gameplay and feels more grounded while the other is more Hollywood with its gameplay like a old western movie from the 70s but more exaggerated.

I honestly feel it's the other way around, one of the reasons I love rdr1 over 2 is it feels more cinematic than the second game, not to say that the second game is worse, it's just different.

RDR2's graphics are more cartoonish, the artstyle is very distinct and bright. While in RDR1 they aimed at realism with the lighting a lot more

@@lepersonnage371 I wouldn't say that, I can't quite put a pinpoint on it, but rdr2 definitely is not cartoonish as that would mean character proportions and game color and lighting looked wrong and unrealistic, which obviously isn't true since rdr2 is super realistic. I think it has something to do with animations, color and lighting and also environment in rdr1 that make it look cinematic than rdr2. Rdr2 really pushes color, in the snowy biomes its all white and blue, in valentine it's grayish blue etc.. In rdr1 it's all mostly desert, so the entire game keeps a singular atmosphere and it isn't weirdly orange like rdr2s desert it, it doesn't try to oversell the desert environment like rdr2 because the entire game is just desert. The animations are also much more badass in rdr1 vs rdr2, from walking to shooting to getting on a horse, rdr1 nails it. It's clunky sure but it still looks really good.

I read somewhere that RDR1 was supposed to be modeled like an old spaghetti western from the 60's. Where part 2 was supposed to be modeled after more modern westerns. Hence why they chose to not make everything desert in part 2.

RDR1's a little outdated by todays standards, and by that I mostly mean the gameplay and the technology they used to make it, but its still a timeless game and a classic Xbox title. I hope Xenia continues to improve and optimize more so people with lower end PCs like myself can play this beauty!

Rdr1 wasn't even outdated in terms of graphics, physics and mechanics. New games become outdated as soon as they are released. :D That's why old games are much better and higher quality than new games!

You can change his appearance on console pretty well. I mean clothing and haircut. And he looks around 80% like the rdr1 john. Just the face details are missing

Man, first time when I played this game I thought we were going to play as John immediately after Arthur dies, in 1899. That would’ve been awesome, to have an accurate model. Of course they would’ve kept that model if it was the same year. And…I don’t understand. Why didn’t they use his 1899 model, they had to use Arthur’s??

On pre release screenshots they showed a proper John model for the epilogue, but they scrapped it and changed it so some kind of Frankensten between John and Arthur. Luckily mods fixes all of that now
